The billionaire's only desire-Chapter 40: Faroe Islands
Chapter 40: Faroe Islands
Maya’s limp body was thrown from the trunk of a car after hours of confinement. She groaned as the impact of her injured ribs hitting the hard ground sent waves of pain throughout her entire body.
Her breathing became rapid as she tried to catch her breath. She had been in an enclosed space for hours with little oxygen. She attempted to heave up but her wrists and ankles were still bound.
Since the last beatings, she has endured two strikes from Terrence, and her back is marked with dried blood from bruises caused by the belt used to whip her.
Her throat is parched, and her lips are cracked and reddened by dry blood. She cannot remember the last time she was given water or food to eat.
Maya cannot determine how long it has been since she was kidnapped, as her memory is hazy. Her stepfather kept injecting her with sedatives to keep her unconscious.
"Where am I?" Maya called out in a hoarse voice. She looked around in fear, and all she could see was a vast expanse of green grass.
Her stepfather ignored her.
"Get her inside," Fredrick Hathaway, instructed a guy who appeared to be in his early twenties.
"Damn, she is beautiful despite the black eye she is spotting on her face." The guy commented.
"Shut up and get her inside!" Fredrick Hathaway barked at the guy.
"Sorry, boss."
Maya was lifted off the ground and thrown over his shoulder.
Maya wanted to fight to break free, but she felt weak and helpless. She couldn’t even cry anymore because her tears felt frozen. Nor could she scream, as her voice was worn out from her constant cries of pain.
This time, she was dumped in a bed, sparing her from another wave of pain.
"I heard you are called Maya. My name is Shawn," the guy introduced himself.
He sounded friendly, so Maya decided to ask him the question that had been weighing on her mind. "Where am I, Shawn?"
"Welcome to the Faroe Islands!"
"Faroe Islands?" Maya pondered her geographic knowledge, trying to figure out where the hell Faroe Islands were located. Her stepfather wasn’t bluffing when he said he would take her somewhere far away where no one would find her.
"The Faroe Island is part of Denmark," the guy informed her.
Denmark? Her stepfather is keeping her hostage in Europe?
Maya didn’t know whether to cry or laugh. She had always wanted to go on vacation in Northern Europe, but fate is so cruel; she is here as a hostage, not a tourist.
Maya squinted her eyes to look at the calendar hanging on the wall behind the man. She couldn’t decipher the month, as it was written in a strange language—probably Danish.
"What day is it today?" she asked him.
"The 11th," he replied.
That means it has been four days since her stepfather kidnapped her.
And the one month is up. Dalton is returning from London today. He told her he would take her out on a date, and she was looking forward to it so badly.
Maya screams in anguish inside her head. She thought her suffering had ended and that her stepfather and brother could no longer hurt her, but she was wrong. She would never be free from their fists and torture.
"Wow, you are fucking sexy. It’s a shame I don’t have millions of dollars to buy you. " the guy said, winking at her as his gaze lingered over her body.
Maya cringed. He was not Mr. friendly at all; he was just a pervert.
She chose to ignore him, her mind wandering elsewhere.
She is being sold for millions of dollars? She is starting to think what Natalia said regarding the girls working at Venus City may not be true. If her stepfather is capable of selling her to the highest bidder, then perhaps he is even involved in sex trafficking and exploiting all the girls-
Maya suddenly groaned in pain as she felt the sharp sting of a needle.
"No! No!" she was being injected with sedatives again. Maya tried to fight it, to stay conscious, but she drifted further into darkness.

Dalton’s worried, troubled gaze was fixated on his phone screen. He kept reading the text messages Maya had sent him over the past four days, again and again. He didn’t believe any of the words she had texted him.
Something is wrong.
His wariness made him nearly miss a step as he was getting out of the private jet.
Aiden was leaning against the car, waiting for him at the jet terminal, with an anxious expression darkening his face.
"Where is Maya? Take me to her," Dalton demanded, clearly on edge.
Aiden sighed. "I don’t know. I’ve been trying to locate her since she sent me a text message saying she is off to Argentina with her friends."
"I told you to keep an eye on Maya, but she has gone missing under your watch!" Dalton punched Aiden.
"Fuck you, Dalton!" Aiden wanted to punch him back badly, but the respect he had for Dalton outweighed the rage boiling inside him.
"I’m not omnipresent; I can’t be with her all the time. I suggested that we should bug her, putting a tracker on her to make protecting her easier, but you refused. I also proposed that we provide her with a security team for her protection, but you rejected that idea as well, Dalton."
Dalton shakes his head. "I want her to maintain a sense of normalcy in her life, even though I’m in her life. Having bodyguards and tracking her with a bug would disrupt that normality."
Aiden chuckled. "You know she has to say goodbye to her mundane life for good. If your enemies find out she is your girl, they will use her against you. You may be untouchable, but Maya has become your weakness now."
That is what Dalton has been dreading. He has no choice but to get her a top-notch security team.
"We need to find Maya. I believe she is in danger," Dalton said as he climbed into the car and got behind the steering wheel.
"I’m on it, bro," Aiden said as he slipped into the passenger seat. "I checked all flight tickets to Argentina bought recently but none were purchased by Maya. Over the past few days, I’ve also reviewed all the CCTV footage from every airport, including private ones, and I didn’t spot her or her friends." Dark circles were visible under Aiden’s eyes, indicating that he hadn’t slept.
"I tracked Fredrick Hathaway’s movements for the past four days, and it looks suspicious. I connected the dots, and I believe he has Maya."
Dalton slammed his fists on the steering wheel. "I will kill him!"
"I’ll kill him for you," Aiden offered menacingly.
"Where the hell is he keeping Maya?" Dalton hissed.
"Faroe Islands, Denmark. He really thought he was slick, but I’m one hell of a tracker," Aiden bragged. "I traced his clandestine jet movements and found his location."
"Let’s go get her," Dalton said, stepping out of the car, ready to head back to his private jet for an immediate flight to the Faroe Islands.
"Well, there is a problem. I can’t locate the house where he is holding her hostage due to the remoteness of the Faroe Islands."
"We need to find that house!" Dalton exclaimed, running his hands through his thick dark hair in frustration. His heart was heavy with anxiety and fear.
The fear of losing the woman his heart beats for.
