Chapter 107: Retaliation 2

Dalton and Aiden could have been delighted to stay much longer on the rooftop, watching the warehouse burn, but they had one final task to complete. They boarded the helicopter, flying straight to Venus City to completely decimate Vico.

This time, they decided to hide in a van and observe Venus City Gentlemen’s Club from a distance. Aiden was shifting impatiently in the driver’s seat, waiting for Marcello to give them the green light to blow up Venus City.

"What is taking Marcello so long?" Aiden fussed. "The bomb will go off soon."

"Be patient; the girls aren’t dead bodies that he can dispose of or transport in just minutes. They are living, breathing human beings."

Marcello doesn’t only specialize in collecting dead bodies; he is also skilled at transporting people safely without detection. That’s why they seek his help to get the girls out of the Venus City building before it explodes.

"No. I think something is wrong." Aiden pushed open the van door and peered at Venus City through the binoculars.

"There is a gunfight going on. I will go aid Marcello. Stay behind, Dalton. You are not yet fit," Aiden deters Dalton as he was reaching out for the pistol on the dashboard.

Aiden grabbed his gun, jumped out of the van, and ran toward the Venus City building.

Dalton was just as stubborn as Aiden. He put on a bulletproof vest, loaded a bullet into his pistol, and hurled himself out of the van. As he approached the building, he heard groans and gunshots. Aiden was at the center of the chaos, disarming his opponents and firing bullets through the skulls of those who stood in his way. freēwēbnovel.com

Dalton tightened his grip on his gun and thrust it forward, joining the battle as he shot at Vico’s men who were aiming for him.

A loud scream echoed from a corner, startling Dalton. The cries came from a group of girls huddled together behind a large van. Three men, Marcello’s men, were trying to get the girls into the van while they fought off Vico’s men.

It was a bloodbath, with bodies sprawling on the ground like flies as Aiden single-handedly took down Vico’s men.

"Get out of the way, Dalton!" a shout rang out. Dalton turned around and saw a man aiming a gun at him . He froze, rooted to the spot.

"Dalton!" Marcello jumped out of nowhere and stepped in front of Dalton, shielding him. The bullet hit Marcello instead, and he crumpled down, taking Dalton with him.

"Fuck! Dalton!" Aiden screamed in rage as he shot the man who had fired at Dalton from behind.

"I’m fine. Marcello is the one hurt. The bullet hit his arm. "

Dalton stared at Marcello in awe. He took a bullet for him. He risked his life to protect him. Dalton couldn’t fathom why Marcello would do that. They were close friends, but he never imagined Marcello cared enough about him to choose to die for him.

"You shouldn’t have done that, Marcello," Dalton fretted uncomfortably. He owns Marcello, his life, and he doesn’t like being debited to anyone.

Marcello waved his hand dismissively. "I love you, Frà, like my blood brother. I couldn’t watch you die without doing anything to prevent it."

"Boss is down! First aid!" one of Marcello’s shouted. He threw Marcello over his back, and as he trekked toward an SUV, Marcello bellowed in a strained voice. "I will be okay, don’t worry too much about me, Dalton,"

"Are the girls secured, Aiden?" Dalton inquired, refocusing on the mission.

"Yes," Aiden replied. "They were just transported a minute ago. Marcello’s men will take them to a shelter for women and children, and with their help, he will reunite them with their families."

"Good to hear."

"I told you to stay behind. You nearly got yourself killed," Aiden scolded his older brother. "But I can’t believe Marcello did that—wow, he took a bullet for you! That man is in love with you," he joked.

"Indeed," Dalton’s trust in Marcello had exceeded 100%, and he could confidently say that he trusted Marcello with his life.

Dalton looked at the sky; it was dusk, and the sun would soon be soaring high. "When will the bomb go off?"

Aiden grinned with excitement. "Let’s get back to the safety of our vans."

The moment they got into the van, Aiden took out a small device and pressed a button.

A deafening roar filled the atmosphere, followed by a thunderous crash that sent shockwaves through the ground. The mighty Venus City gentlemen’s club building collapsed, bringing down Vico’s Mafia empire with it.

"That wasn’t a bomb?" Dalton shouted over the sounds of the crash.

"It was a bomb, but I included dynamites and emulsions. I thought it would be fun to watch Venus razed to the ground instead of just burned."

"We did it, bro," Aiden said, clapping Dalton’s hand. "We have successfully defeated Vico. The only thing left is to find him and kill him."

"Yes, we need to find him. " Before he comes for Maya.

Aiden smirked at his phone. "The FBI has successfully raided Vico’s nightclubs and restaurants. They have gotten enough evidence to build a strong case against him to get him locked up for life. I was hoping they would capture him so I could kill him before the trial, but that coward has gone into hiding. Damn it!" he cursed. "That was the only reason I tipped off the FBI, but they are useless; he escaped." He worked his jaw. "Vico can run, but he can’t hide. I will find him and torture him until he dies." Fury veins crawled over his forehead.

While Aiden was speaking, Dalton’s mind drifted to Maya. He hadn’t heard from her since yesterday morning. He had been so occupied with the planning and execution of the bombing of Vico’s warehouses that he forgot she hadn’t replied to the messages he sent her at 1 pm yesterday.

He decided to call her. It was almost 6 a.m., so she should be awake by now. However, after five rings, she still hadn’t answered. Something must have happened to her, he panicked

He called his head of security, Steve.

Steve answered on the first ring. "Where is Maya? Did she come home last night?"

"Yes, she did, sir."

Dalton was about to feel relief when Steve added, "She took the wrong dose of her prescribed medication, which caused her to pass out. She was brought home by the body collector, Marcello."

The phone wavers on Dalton’s ear."What is her condition now?"

"She is fine; Dr. Oliver examined her."

Dalton breathed into his palm, feeling relief

But he was upset. Why didn’t Marcello inform him about it?
