The Billionaire Twins Need A New Mommy!-Chapter 704: Infidelity
The Zorken territory, where the Order lived, was surrounded by smaller islands. Most of them were occupied, but the most crowded of all was the main island, where the so-called main town was. π³πΏππππ²ππ»ππππ₯.ππ π
The mansion was located just behind the main island, and one needed a boat to reach it. The only reason the mansion remained hidden was because of the tall trees that surrounded nearly everything. It was the same with the other smaller islands, where some hills stood as natural cover.
And on one of those smaller islands... was Atlas and Henrikβs meeting place.
"Heβs here."
Slaterβs voice echoed in Lolaβs ear, as he had been tasked with watching the small cabin. She nodded and turned to Atlas.
"Slater said Henrik is here," she repeated, dragging the chair beside him. "Baby, I feel a little worried."
"Itβs alright." Atlas looked at her and nodded. "Henrik will not do anything reckless, and he knows that."
"Thatβs not what I mean," she smacked her lips. "Itβs my first time meeting one of the heads of the founding families. Itβs not that I care about what heβd say, but it would be a lie to say I donβt... feel something."
Lolaβs brows twitched when she felt a squeeze on her hand in her lap. Gazing down and seeing his hand, she chuckled and lifted her eyes to him.
"Iβm not scared, but rather... I donβt know. But Iβm definitely not scared or nervous," she clarified with a smile, pressing her thumb against his hand. "But thank you."
He nodded, keeping his hand on hers to calm her. Soon, they heard the cabin entrance creak open slowly.
"Sneaking out is surely quite something," came Henrikβs voice as he closed the door. He removed his hat, only to see Atlas and another person seated at the table.
Henrik knitted his brows and narrowed his blue eyes. "That wasβ"
He didnβt continue, approaching the table where Atlas sat. The closer he got, the more he leaned his head forward, curiosity clear in his eyes until Lolaβs side profile came fully into view.
"Oh." His mouth formed a small "o" when Lola lifted her eyes and met his.
Lola furrowed her brows as soon as their eyes met, a little surprised that Henrik looked younger than she had expected. Well, she didnβt think she had ever asked Atlas about the manβs age, since she had already placed him at a certain age in her mind.
Meanwhile, Atlas maintained a flat expression as he studied Henrikβs eyes, which stayed on Lola a little longer than they should.
"I am here," Atlas said, snapping both Lola and Henrik out of their thoughts.
Henrik blinked and turned to Atlas, smiling teasingly. "Of course, I know you are there. Donβt be jealous." He laughed as he dragged the chair across from him. "Iβm just a little surprised. Iβve met you twice now since you got married, but I havenβt seen the mysterious Mrs. Zorken."
"I was dangerously close to assuming it was just a rumor and that this wife wasnβt a real person," he added with a charming smile. Turning to Lola, he stretched a hand across the table. "Where are my manners? Itβs a pleasure to finally meet you, Madam Zorken. You are much more beautiful than the rumors said. The name is Henrik Bellemonte."
Lola glanced at his hand, which was wrapped in a bandage from what looked like a recent injury.
"The pleasure is mine," she answered without taking his hand, though she still offered him a short smile.
Henrik didnβt pull his hand back immediately. Instead, he let it hover over the table, waiting for Lola to take it. When she didnβt, he chuckled.
"You are just like him," he said, finally withdrawing his hand. "No wonder the two of you clicked."
"Henrik Bellemonte, I did not come here with my wife for you to waste our time," Atlas said, as usual shifting the atmosphere back to the main point. "What is it that you want to tell me that you could not say on the phone?"
"Atlas, itβs not that I planned to waste your time," Henrik replied. "Itβs just that whatever Iβm about to tell you is for your ears only."
"My eyes, my ears, and even my entire being belong to my wife." Atlas planted a hand on the table and pushed himself up without hesitation. "Unless you understand that, I see no point in this meeting."
His action made lines deepen on Lolaβs face.
Huh? She blinked, puzzled. Is he bluffing to leave? Just like that? Nope β heβs really planning to go.
Stopping her face from twitching, Lola also rose to her feet to follow her husband. In the back of her mind, she thought that leaving so soon without even negotiating might truly be a waste of time.
But just as Atlas turned, Henrik huffed and raised his hands in surrender.
"Fine," he clicked his tongue. "Just how short is your patience? It feels like it gets shorter every time I see you."
Atlas stopped, and Lola did too, looking at her husband as he glanced back at Henrik.
Ahh... she mentally nodded. So this is how he deals with people like Henrik. Donβt make him look like he needs them. He probably used this tactic many times before, seeing how quickly Henrik bent.
If she were right, then Atlas had walked out on plenty of powerful people before and proven he could still get things done without their help. Hence, even if he was bluffing now, Henrik wouldnβt dare assume it.
So cool~!
Her eyes twinkled at her husband, only to snap out of her thoughts when Henrik spoke again. Since neither she nor Atlas sat down, the man continued.
"Since I left Ravah, Iβve been thinking about what you said," Henrik began, his expression stern and his eyes fixed only on Atlas. "I assume you already thought I had a suspect, and I was indeed suspicious of my wife. So I conducted a careful investigation."
Henrik paused. "And it turns out, it seems my wife has been cheating on me." He laughed, not really hurt or surprised. His marriage was a pile of dung sprinkled with gold dust β disgusting and unpleasant, yet something they had to maintain.
"But her infidelity wasnβt the point," he added, raising his hand and gesturing to the seat across from him. "Itβs the fact that I found out she had funded a project years ago β one that was shut down later."
Henrik wiggled his brows and tilted his head. "Do you know who shut down the project?" he teased, snorting as the corners of his eyes glinted.
"It was the..." he trailed off, leaning his arm against the table. "...the High Divine Circle. Although thereβs one interesting detail I found."
He smirked.
"This project was shut down on the exact day your name surfaced in the Secret Society."
