The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 754 - 795: Integrating into Local Life
"If you weren’t pregnant, I’d really want..."
His gaze fell on her belly, and he suddenly wore a chilling smile, which frightened Sienna Johnson.
This man was not the child’s biological father; he wasn’t like Adrian Desmond, restraining himself and being extremely careful, fearing he might hurt the child.
"Being in bed with a pregnant woman—just thinking about it is thrilling."
"Playing with a corpse is even more thrilling. Want to try?"
Sienna bravely returned his gaze. At this moment, she was resolved to perish together with the man before her.
The child is my life. Whoever dares to hurt my child, I’ll fight them to the death!
"Sienna, I was just joking earlier. Why did you take it seriously?... I won’t hurt you!" He reached out to her, but Sienna stepped back, rejection and caution in her eyes.
He withdrew his hand, placing both by his sides, looking earnest and honest. "Alright, you don’t like jokes. I won’t joke with you anymore."
Xavier’s expression changed in a flash, so quickly that Sienna couldn’t read him at all. The thought of innocent Rosie Cooper, now dead, brought a dull ache to Sienna’s heart.
"She was so young, and she still had three younger sisters. You shouldn’t have killed her!"
"Adrian’s people can’t be spared!"
Sienna pleaded, "Let me send her off then."
"Alright!"
Xavier knew Sienna didn’t want to see him right then, so he called for Landon to take her to see Rosie Cooper.
When they arrived, the two men who had carried Rosie earlier were digging a hole, planning to bury her unceremoniously. Rosie Cooper had been carelessly tossed into the grass, where mosquitoes and flies were buzzing around her.
Seeing this, Sienna’s tears flowed. She just felt awful, an unbearable ache in her heart.
"Rosie..."
The shrewd Rosie would never respond to her again. Her eyes remained wide open, a bloody hole in her forehead where the blood had now congealed. Sienna walked over, gently closed her eyes, and said solemnly,
"I know you can’t let go of your three younger sisters. I promise you, I will make sure they find good futures, just like ordinary women."
Only then did Rosie Cooper close her eyes, leaving this sinful, dirty world forever.
「...」
Sienna began to gradually adapt to life here, and a month passed unknowingly.
During this month, Adrian hadn’t sent anyone to look for her. It felt as if she might stay here forever.
Sienna’s clinic opened as she wished. At first, not many patients came, but later, the numbers gradually increased.
Sienna, after all, was pregnant. She was afraid of catching diseases from the patients, so she always wore a mask and gloves during consultations.
"Your daughter isn’t sick. She’s just malnourished and needs better nutrition."
Sienna looked at the emaciated little girl, who was around Curly’s age, and sighed.
The little girl clutched a tattered doll missing one arm, looking at Sienna with alarmingly large eyes.
Sienna took a piece of candy from her pocket, unwrapped it, and put it in the little girl’s mouth. The little girl chewed, and then her eyes lit up.
"Sweet!"
The child’s mother wasn’t very talkative; she could only smile at Sienna appreciatively.
The Himakati woman before her had dark skin; she was simple, hardworking, introverted, and shy. She was around Sienna’s age but looked much older due to hunger, labor, and childbirth.
Sienna had seen too many women like this recently, and her heart often ached for them.
She always used to think her life was terrible, but compared to these women, she was truly fortunate, incredibly so.
The child seemed to have rarely eaten candy. Though the piece was small, the child ate slowly, yet finished it quickly. Once done, she stared at Sienna. Sienna took another piece from her pocket and offered it to the child, but the child’s mother stopped her.
"Madam, one is enough."
The child pouted. Although she wanted more, she didn’t say anything.
"It’s fine." Sienna gave her five pieces of candy and said, "You can take them home and share them with your brothers and sisters."
The little girl clutched the candy tightly in her hand. She didn’t know how to say thank you but just smiled at Sienna shyly and sincerely.
The woman carried the child and left.
"Next!" Sulla called out.
Sulla was the translator Xavier had hired for Sienna. She was fluent in the Amwan Language, English, and the Himakati Language. Sienna’s own language skills weren’t bad. After a period of intensive study, she could now hold simple conversations. However, if others spoke too quickly or the content was obscure, she found it hard to understand.
This time, another woman came in. Upon seeing her, Sulla actually ushered her straight out.
Sienna was confused. She watched Sulla indignantly push the person out and then walk back in, wiping her hands.
"Sulla, what’s going on? Why did you send the patient away?"
"She’s not suitable!" Sulla’s thick eyebrows were almost knitted together from frowning.
Sienna gently shook her head and said, "Should patients be treated differently?"
"She’s a prostitute!"
Sienna thought for a moment and said to Sulla, "Let her in."
"How can that be?"
"In my eyes, there’s no distinction of race, gender, identity, or wealth... as long as they are patients, they can be treated."
Sienna insisted, simply looking at Sulla. Though she said nothing more, Sulla felt an invisible pressure.
In the end, Sulla relented and called in the woman she had just sent out. The woman’s face still bore tearstains, and her eyes were full of gratitude when she saw Sienna.
"Thank you, thank you..." The woman’s Himakati Language was not fluent. Sienna observed that she was very beautiful and didn’t look much like a local. "You’re not Himakati, are you?" she asked.
"I’m from Orienta."
Seeing a fellow countrywoman here, Sienna was very surprised. She spoke to her in Mandarin, "I’m also from Orienta."
The woman looked at her in shock. "How did you end up in this godforsaken place?"
Sulla, standing to the side, couldn’t understand a word they were saying. She could only fret anxiously but couldn’t ask them to speak the Himakati Language. This Sienna Johnson didn’t curse or shout, but the subtle chill that emanated from her always made Sulla feel timid.
"Madam, what are you talking about?" Sulla couldn’t help but interrupt.
Sienna glanced at Sulla, her icy gaze instantly dissolving all the bravado Sulla had mustered.
"Madam, you two chat. I’ll go prepare some fruit for you."
Sienna’s diet was very refined. Apart from her normal three meals, fruits and snacks were also essential.
"Sulla, I’d like some pineapple. Cut it into small pieces and soak it in saltwater for a while," Sienna instructed.
