The Astral soul system-Chapter 151: Ms Aurora is pretty

"Um, Zyro?"

Zyro snapped out of his daze as his friends called his name,.

"Oh, yeah. I was just saying I think we hit it off,he honestly seemed pretty nice too"

"Seriously? Didn’t you two have like a blood feud or something?" Diane asked.

"First of all,i have no blood relatives, second,it was just a few fights, besides that was Zen"

"Yeah but he doesn’t know that" Zaria added.

"Guys, seriously, he’s cool now. He apologized and we had a talk, that’s all"

Neo looked at him suspiciously.

"Didn’t Maximilian say there was something else between you two?"

Maximilian suddenly laughed.

"Yeah,he stole Zen’s girlfriend "

Curiously, Zyro tilted his head a bit.

"Girl... friend? I... don’t think so"

Zyro shook his head confidently.

"Well there was definitely something between Zen and that girl "

"I doubt it. I talked to him and he didn’t seem at all fond of her"

’He didn’t have any other thoughts about her either, just facts’

"I asked Gary and apparently he doesn’t know what happened to her either, so i guess that’s the end of that"

The group split up, going to their respective classes, with Jade and Zaria going to weapons,Neo going to the elemental class, Maximilian going to mecha piloting and Xavier and beth heading to the wilderness survival class, while Zyro himself went to hand to hand combat class.

As they were about to split up, Zyro suddenly noticed how odd and random his friends’ choices were.

In Jade and Zaria’s case, Weapons class was actually the second least third least popular class in the school, right behind his hand to hand combat class which was second.

Neo’s ability was in no way elemental and therefore he didn’t even fit in. However it made sense considering he signed up before getting his ability and was just forced to stay there now until his second year in the academy, unless something happened to change that.

Mecha piloting, although being one of the most popular classes was known for its intense difficulty and ridiculously high requirements because of the amount of both theoretical and practical knowledge required was very high. This was probably why Maximilian was almost always with a book when Zyro came into the room, and for a genius and overachiever like Max,it wasn’t out of character.

Now in Xavier and Diane’s case was where it got really bizarre because they were both in the LEAST popular class and the total number of students in wilderness survival class was...(Drumroll)....TWO. Yep, they were the only students in the whole class.

Zyro had originally asked Xavier why he didn’t pick something else considering his ability, saying that hand to hand combat or weapons class would be better and even said that he could teach Xavier the things being taught in the wilderness survival class all by himself but Xavier just laughed it off and replied that it was because of nature. Xavier claimed that his greatest passion in life was to fight fight and fight,he wanted to know what it was like to fight beasts and opponents on different planets, but he couldn’t do that if he didn’t even know how to keep himself alive on other planets , and appearantly the incident with the portal had only reinforced this belief. Xavier had honestly thought of himself as a burden throughout the whole situation since he’d done nothing big but freeload off Max’s equipment and Zen’s experience. Freya agreed with this, telling Zyro that the wilderness survival class was actually one of the most important in the school ,it didn’t just teach basic stuff like making campfires or making shelter but covered literally every bit of knowledge you could possibly need anywhere on any inhabited or uninhibited planet, she described it saying

"If a student who didn’t take the class was dropped naked in a random place on a random planet all alone, uninhabited or otherwise, they had a two percent chance of survival ,a student who had taken the class and graduated with full marks had a ten percent chance. I myself took it as an elective in my second year, alongside mecha piloting, elemental class, and Soul gear class,Yep, that’s right,your Mama’s a genius who took four classes,of course you don’t need it since I trained you and the others myself , but it’s worth the effort and time "

So Xavier was justified, but Diane... not so much.

"I took it so I could nap in silence"

Was the blunt answer she gave when asked. Unfortunately her plan didn’t work since her teacher was apparently as strict as you’d expect from a military drill sergeant and wouldn’t let either of his two students rest for one second.

Then they asked him why he thinks Zen picked the second least popular class and Zyro thought long and hard , answering.

"I think...i think it’s because Miss Aurora’s really pretty"

They all nearly fell over after hearing the confident answer

"Dude!!! I mean,we all agree with you but at least try to hide it" Neo said, laughing his ass off

Zyro didn’t know what they were stressing about. He’d thought it through and it was the only answer he could think of that would make sense considering Zen’s personality. He’d originally even thought Zen picked the soul gear class since that was mostly meditation A.K.A naps.

"What’s wrong? It’s true"

"Is it now?"

Zyro suddenly felt a shiver go down his spine and looked back to see Aurora staring down at him with her cold indifference and a stare that made everyone shut up and listen to her.

"Yep" Zyro answered without missing a beat.

"You are,teach"

Aurora just snorted and turned around before walking off in the direction of her class.

"You’re late,stop wasting time"

She said before her figure faded away.

Zyro suddenly felt Neo grab his neck.

"This guy.... First the hot nurse and now you’re even going for your teacher? How greedy"

Although the words sounded accusatory,Neo was smiling the entire time.

"Alright, enough messing around. See you guys after class"

Maximilian said before walking in the direction of his class

"Tch! No fun. See ya" Neo said, letting go of Zyro and heading off.

"We’re off too. Come on be.. Diane"

Xavier said, quickly correcting his error and dragging the unwilling Diane with him.

"That teacher is an absolute lunatic. He talks to the walls, I’m pretty sure he has them all named"

Diane lamented, trying to pry herself free of Xavier’s grip,once again regretting choosing the class.

Zaria was the only one left and chuckled as they dispersed.

"They are so weird"

"Tells you something about us doesn’t it?"

"Hehe, yeah. Well I’m off,chances are Jade won’t survive long without me"

"Yeah, either she ends up crying over something insignificant or underestimates her strength and breaks someone’s kneecaps"

Zaria chuckled, nodding.

"Both equally terrifying. Anyway,see you later" Zaria said, flashing her yang necklace before running after Jade.

"...."

"Oh they are sooooo in love"

Zyro suddenly heard Sylphie’s voice ringing in his ear.

"I ship it... wait, she’s the daughter of the draconyx family... on the other hand, I’m not sure "

Freya added

Zyro sighed dramatically

"Guys, don’t be weird"

He turned around and headed in the direction Aurora went in

"Lilith,can you please talk some sense into these two?"

"...."

"So i guess you agree with them, huh?"

"Maybe"

Zyro chuckled but didn’t take it seriously.

"Zephyr, please tell me you’re on my side here 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Hmmm"

Hearing Zephyr’s hesitation, Sylphie yelled out in triumph

"Yes, it’s unanimous! The council has decided,you have to ask her out "

"What?"

Zyro couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity. He had a dark god, the queen of vampires,a creature from another world and one of humanity’s greatest terrors debating his love life

"I made no such vote. I have no interest in such pointless matters " Zephyr said.

"What? Come on old man, have a little fun"

Lilith suddenly spoke up.

"Freya,are you okay?"

"Huh? What? Why wouldn’t I be?"

"You went quiet after mentioning the girl’s heritage. This is usually the kind of thing that gets you excited, instead you look...distubed"

Zyro suddenly felt their voices disappear and realized what happened. Lilith and Freya didn’t want him to hear what they were saying.

"Well that was weird. So what do you think? Zaria and you?" Theia asked, appearing on top of his head, crossing her legs

Zyro shook his head

"Not possible, besides how would it even work, with our mental state being what it is"

"Is that all? Cuz you two have a lot in common,you have the same taste in music, you’re both lazy when it comes to studying and that’s just the bare stuff"

"No...it just, doesn’t feel that was. I don’t... know what romance or love is about but I’ve seen some books and although I feel close to her, it’s not that kind of closeness. The feeling reminds me more of Rio, my sister, someone i can trust "

Theia looked at him worriedly.

"Sorry to tell you this but trust is a luxury you shouldn’t give easily. Are you sure she’s worth yours?"

Zyro smiled

"As much as I hate to say it, Zen was right. She’s...naive, childish, easy to manipulate. So I know she trusts me somewhat, and maybe it’s because we have something we share, but..."

His hand went to his necklace as he squeezed it.

"...i feel close to her"

Theia nodded. It wasn’t just the necklace they shared,it was a weakness,a fear.

Zyro walked towards his class his golden eye glimmering in thought.

"Hey, Theia -"

"Zyro!"

He was suddenly interrupted. Looking at who was calling him he smiled, noticing Sable walking towards him with a familiar black bird on her shoulder.

"You got your morning fill?"

Sable nodded.

"Yep, this little guy is quite helpful"

She said, patting the raven and giving it a few scratches much to its delight.

"Honestly, I’m getting pretty concerned with how much I’m enjoying living off mostly blood . I did what you suggested and only ate extra rare meat in small portions and I’m ashamed to say it but i honestly don’t miss regular food"

"Happy to hear i- i mean, that’s...nice. anything special happen lately?"

Zyro said, feeling Lilith’s hawk like stare weighing on him

"See? She’s fine ’ He said, trying to calm down the obsessive vampire.

"No... not since... that night. Hey, don’t change the subject, how do you know so much about what’s going on with me anyway? I’m definitely not a vampire,at least I think so"

"Yup,you haven’t started huffing and acting like a bloodthirsty animal "

Zyro’s mind wandered to the unsightly appearance of vampires in his world and once again was stunned by the difference between those and Lilith. Lilith was similar to the appearance of vampires he saw in books , while in actuality....well...

Vampires usually had grey a grey greasy hide , humped backs, horribly long claws a and a generally animal like appearance. They were animalistic and almost no different from normal beasts whenever blood was involved

Despite the relative intelligence of the creatures in fantasy dungeons, none of them looked fully human, and vampires were no exception. Some of them could barely even speak and even if they could,it was unintelligible to humans.

Not wanting to be rude,he hadn’t asked Lilith about why she and Sable were different, assuming they just evolved like other beasts and humanity just hadn’t met a fully evolved vampire yet, and hopefully they would have to until Sable was fully grown into her new body.

"Oh, just... really good guess"

"Right... I’m not -"

"Hey, have you figured out that mind control thing yet?"

"Oh, no. I keep trying but my eyes just won’t glow like before. Wait...Stop changing the subject!!!"
