The Art of Chaotic Divinity-Chapter 1134: The Little Medical Saint
As he spoke, Ling Feng took out the Vermilion-Eyed Ice Silkworm and motioned for the Feng family patriarch to extend a finger.
The silkworm bit down on the old man's fingertip. The toxins in his body began to flow outward, drawn drop by drop as the Vermilion-Eyed Ice Silkworm devoured them all.
The poison that could make even a Human Emperor writhe in agony was, to the silkworm, a nourishing tonic.
"This... this is..."
The patriarch stared at the small silkworm resting on his palm. His eyelids twitched as realization dawned. "Could this be the legendary Vermilion-Eyed Ice Silkworm?"
"You truly live up to your name as the patriarch of the Feng family. That's right, it is the Vermilion-Eyed Ice Silkworm." Ling Feng smiled faintly as he guided the patriarch's energy with his golden needles, helping his recovery along.
"What a miracle. I never imagined such a creature could still exist in this world. To meet you, young friend Ling, is truly my fortune."
Color returned to the patriarch's face, and his bearing slowly regained the composure of a clan leader. Then something seemed to strike him. He looked at Ling Feng and said, "Young friend, earlier you mentioned being the heir of the Medical Saint. Since your surname is Ling, could you be a descendant of the great Ling Hanyang?"
"Oh?" Ling Feng was taken aback. "You know my grandfather?"
He hadn't expected his grandfather's name to reach even this far, all the way from the Tianbai Empire to the Tiansheng Empire.
"So you are the grandson of the Medical Saint Ling. That explains everything. No wonder your medical skill is unmatched."
The patriarch threw back his head and laughed. "Heaven has not forsaken my Feng family after all."
After about half a quarter of an hour, the Vermilion-Eyed Ice Silkworm had completely absorbed every trace of poison from the patriarch's body. With Ling Feng's Profound Art of Acupuncture and Moxibustion restoring his meridians, the old man's condition stabilized. Though not yet at full strength, he had already regained about sixty percent of his power.
"Little Medical Saint, I owe you my life."
The patriarch took a deep breath, his eyes glinting with cold fury. "Once I've recovered my full strength, tomorrow morning will be the day Qi Hongwu dies!"
Ling Feng raised an eyebrow. The patriarch was clearly a man of resolve, one who would not let hatred cloud his reason.
"Tomorrow will be a hard battle," the patriarch said. "Little Medical Saint, please rest here tonight in the guest courtyard. Once I reclaim my position, I'll host a banquet in your honor."
"There's no need to be so formal. I'm still far from worthy of the title 'Medical Saint.'"
Ling Feng smiled and offered a fist-and-palm salute. "I've used quite a bit of energy treating you, Senior. This courtyard seems peaceful enough. I'll find a room and rest for a while."
"Please, make yourself at home."
The patriarch exhaled deeply. The humiliation of the past few days would be wiped clean tomorrow.
Ling Feng left with Tuoba Yan. Fatty Huang and Lan Yingying exchanged brief farewells with the patriarch before leaving to rest as well, leaving father and daughter alone in the hall.
Once she was sure her father was truly well, Feng Chan finally let out a long breath of relief. "Daddy, you're really all right. That's wonderful!"
"Indeed, we made it through!"
His tone softened, but a moment later, his eyes turned serious. "Chan'er, tell me, how did you come to know this Mr. Ling?"
"He's Brother's friend. They met on the Battlefield of the Gods and Demons. He's from the Tianbai Empire and came here looking for Brother. When he heard about what happened to us, he sought me out. Everything that followed... Daddy already knows."
"So he risked all this just because of his friendship with Yan'er?"
The patriarch frowned. His tone carried no hostility, only cautious doubt. In times like these, even kin could not always be trusted, let alone someone they had met only days ago.
Feng Chan bit her lip. "Father, I swear on my life, Mr. Ling isn't a bad man. He has no hidden motives."
"Rest easy, Chan'er. I don't doubt his intentions. If he meant us harm, he would never have healed me."
The patriarch shook his head slowly. "We'll only know the truth after we rescue Yan'er. Perhaps your brother has indeed found himself a true friend."
He paused, then smiled faintly. "A talent like him... if only he could stay in the Feng family."
"Daddy, please don't think that way. He won't stay with a small family like ours."
Feng Chan's lips pressed together as she recounted how Ling Feng's two demonic pets had defeated a Human Emperor with ease.
The patriarch drew in a sharp breath. "What kind of person is that young man?"
He sighed softly, shaking his head. "What a pity. That quiet girl beside him seems very close to him, and she's as beautiful as you, perhaps even more so. Otherwise..."
"Daddy!" Feng Chan's cheeks flushed. She glared at him, flustered. "Don't say such nonsense!"
"Haha, my dear girl, beauty always admires strength. In all of Fengling County, I doubt anyone else has caught your eye besides him."
The patriarch chuckled and waved a hand. "Enough. A child's fate is their own. If you and he are meant to be, it will happen. If not, there's no forcing it. I'm just glad to have survived this time. Tomorrow... Hehe!"
A cold light flashed in his eyes as he clenched his fists. "Tomorrow will be Qi Hongwu's end!"
Feng Chan nodded firmly. She had long despised Qi Hongwu for what he had done to her father. Even her gentle heart held no mercy for a man like that.
Tomorrow, Qi Hongwu will die!
...
Inside Ling Feng's room.
Tuoba Yan glanced at Ling Feng, her tone sharp with jealousy. "You seem quite concerned about that Second Young Miss of the Feng family. What is it? Planning to stay here as their son-in-law?"
"What are you talking about?"
Ling Feng rolled his eyes, helpless. "I'm doing this to save Feng Yan. The only Blood Jade Spring Flower I know of happens to be in his hands."
"Hmph. Who knows if that's true!"
Tuoba Yan bit her lip and looked away, unconvinced.
Ling Feng could only laugh quietly. "Yan'er, what's gotten into you? Why are you suddenly so worked up?"
"Hmph. None of your business!"
Her cheeks flushed crimson. Realizing how she sounded, she shot him a glare, pushed the door open, and stormed out.
"Uh..."
Ling Feng scratched his head as he watched her leave. "What's that all about..."
