The Alpha's Villainess Wife-Chapter 31: TUD: The Ultimate Discuss
There was no movement at all.
Eve’s expression darkened.
"Don’t make me find you myself," she repeated.
Still nothing.
Turning, she approached one of the expensive wooden chairs in the foyer and grabbed it.
She smashed it to the floor, broke out one of its legs, and began to approach the door that led into the backyard of the mansion.
Her fingers tightened around the stick and the very second she got closer to the door, she turned abruptly to the floor-length curtain, covering the window, and lifted the stick, proceeding to smash against it.
A silhouette brushed out of the curtain so quickly and she paused. Someone was there—she was sure of it, but the thing was she couldn’t see anyone.
"Okay, okay, let’s please calm down!"
The figure slowly morphed into her vision.
Very slender, not really tall, and clad in a black working suit. Her gaze shifted to his locs of hair, as white as snow, and then down to the very blue of his eyes which made the beautiful brown of his skin glow.
"Who are you?" He smelt of a wolf, but not entirely. The scent was...not that pure. "What are you?"
"My name is Yuri." An apologetic smile tugged at his lips and he slightly bowed to her. "I’m half wolf, half vampire. A hybrid."
A hybrid? She had never met one before.
"Why were you watching me?"
"Oh. It’s for your safety," he responded. "The boss was worried you’d be in danger in his absence, so he has me watching you in case anything goes wrong. I’m just here to watch over and protect you."
"I see." She tossed aside the stick and proceeded back to the sofa as if it were no problem at all. "Do you know anything about computers?"
"Computers?" Yuri followed behind her.
"Yes." Eve sat down on the sofa and pulled open the laptop. "I’m trying to access the data inside this USB, but I can’t seem to do it. Can you?"
Yuri blinked and slowly shook his head. "I suppose I could try, b-but I’m not that good."
Eve tapped the spot next to her on the sofa and as he sat down, she handed the device to him.
While he tried working on it, she bow-crossed her legs and intently peered at what he was doing.
"Where did you get this data?"
"Mind your business."
"Yes, ma’am." He nodded.
...
An hour in and Eve cocked a brow at him.
"Twenty-four hours of lockdown before we can try again? Are you serious? I thought you knew what you were doing?"
"Well, I never said I was really good at this..." Yuri mumbled weakly. "Besides, this particular file is heavily guarded. I think only the person who created it can break into it."
"Give me that!" Eve glared and snatched the laptop from him.
"You weren’t able to break into it either."
"Are you talking to me?"
His gaze crossed over to the broken wooden chair and he quickly shook his head. "No, ma’am."
Eve scoffed under her breath and folded her arms, her head thrown back in frustration. "This is driving me crazy."
"Do you know who made the data? You can always negotiate and have him or her open it?" Yuri suggested.
She looked at him. "If I could do that, I wouldn’t waste my time trying to break into it for hours. Trying to find who made it is no different from setting myself up to be killed."
"Then—"
The door pushed open suddenly, grabbing both of their attention. Eve’s gaze fell on Malakai who’d come to a stop, his briefcase in his grip.
She looked at him.
He looked at her.
She blinked at him.
His gaze drifted to Yuri who immediately sprung out of the sofa and deeply bowed to him. He was done for.
"What are you doing?" Malakai was questioning him.
Eve settled her feet on the floor and walked towards him. He tried to smile which was immediately wiped off his face the very second her feet met his little brother.
"You had someone watching me without my knowledge?" she questioned.
Malakai’s face hardened in so much pain and he was near keening on his knees. Veins popped at his neck and he shifted his murderous gaze to Yuri whose jaw was on the floor.
He was pale as if he’d seen a ghost and the slow bobbing of his Adam’s apple as he swallowed was the indication he was frightened.
Either the boss or the madam was going to kill him.
"I’m sorry," he mouthed silently to Malakai, an apologetic look on his face. "I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean to get caught."
"Get. Out," Malakai ordered.
Yuri didn’t stall, leaving the foyer at the speed of light. He didn’t hate he was half a vamp a lot of times.
Malakai tried smiling at Eve.
"Eve, I—"
"I’ll kick you one more time if you say my name," she warned.
"I was only doing it for you," Malakai defended. "I was worried anything could happen to you while I’m at work. I needed someone to watch over you."
"I’m not mad about that. I’m pissed that you didn’t tell me. I don’t like secrets and things like that," she said, turning to head for the sofa. "You could have let me know about him. I nearly smashed him with a stick."
"Huh?"
He quickly turned his head to the side and raised a stunned brow at the broken chair.
"You..."
’I think you should tell your wife about this. You are not going to like it when she finds out about it herself.’
His Adam’s apple bobbed in a thick swallow and he cleared his throat. "Actually, I have one more thing to tell you..."
Eve regarded him curiously while munching on the bag of chips she held. "What?"
"Patro is after TUD, or possibly has already bought them to his side."
She paused and lifted her head to meet his gaze. "Oh."
Malakai scowled. "You are not surprised?"
"No." She shook her head. "When we met him last time, I already figured out that’s what he was going to do. I mean it wouldn’t make sense to try turning the scandal in his favor without buying the biggest publishing firm to his side. After all, having me silent isn’t going to work if TUD keeps writing in my favor."
He walked over to the couch and sat down next to her, his elbows resting against his knees.
"Though what I can’t figure out is how he’s going to do it," she added. "I don’t think paying TUD a large sum of money is going to be enough. You already bought them over first, so I don’t think they would break the deal they already have with you just to please Patro."
"Then what do you think he’ll do?" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Malakai inquired, curious.
"I don’t know," Eve mumbled with a distant gaze. "But it’s going to be something outrageous. Something horrible. Patro always gets what he wants, one way or the other. He’s not a man that you can say no to."
"We’ve got to forget about TUD," she said.
He frowned. "Why?"
"They’re done for and they’re no longer reliable to us."
