The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 96: Another Side To The Spirit Guide 2 ()
Nile’s wolf rose to the surface as a ferocious growl escaped his lips, in a flash, his claws and canines extended and his hands enclosed around the neck of the vulnerable merman.
"What..." The merman struggled to speak as his hands clawed at Nile’s crushing grip.
Nile’s eyes glowed brightly as he snarled, exposing his sharp set of teeth, he leaned down to meet the wide eyed gaze of the merman.
"If Zariah must be in pain because of you... then you are better off dead!" Nile snarled, every decorum of the spirit guide fading off to reveal the warrior wolf within.
One would think this was unlike the ever calm and collected spirit guide of Crimson Moon, Nile Castiel, however those who knew Nile knew he was many things, but when it came to Zariah, he was extremely protective of her.
Nile was after all still a warrior wolf and one of the strongest of the Crimson Moon, the fifth element lord and a pillar of Crimson Moon.
Anything else could be compromised, even his own life, but Zariah was simply not an option.
The more Nile thought, the more angered he was, they had come all this way and when things got tense, the Sea Kingdom had wasted no time to point fingers at the Crimson wolves with no second thoughts.
And now they were left with no options but to save the life of this merman to prove their innocence or risk dragging the Crimson Moon into this fruitless war.
Nile was the only one who had escorted Zariah to the Sea Kingdom, he had been entrusted the duty of protecting her and finding himself helpless to do anything but fulfill his mission aggravated him to no ends.
And then Zariah was blatantly refusing to speak to him.
’Zariah! I know you can hear me, you know we have to talk about this! By the elements, say something or Creator help me this will end now!’ Nile roared through their mindlink.
Nile watched as the pupils of the merman rolled back, for some reason, he had stopped struggling against Nile’s hold for a while but merely stared up at Nile with a pained look in his eyes,
Numerous emotions Nile could not understand was reflected in the silver orbs of the merman as he gasped, struggling to form words but Nile’s bruising grip on his throat did not allow for it.
Nile released a low growl, the vulnerable look in the eyes of the merman gave Nile pause and he could not fathom why his heart ached at the sight.
’Nile! That’s enough! Stop!’ Zariah’s voice sounded in Nile’s head, finally giving him a response.
Nile forced his wolf to calm, loosening his choke hold, yet the merman had already fallen unconscious again.
Nile felt it was even much better he remained unconscious, Nile did not need any annoying presence during this trip, neither was he in the mood to explain to the merman why they had taken him away from the Sea Palace.
’Why? What exactly are you up to Zariah?!’ Nile hissed back at Zariah, sucking in an audible breath.
’Why what?’ Zariah’s voice replied, as though she had no idea what Nile was talking about.
’You know exactly what I’m talking about Zariah.’ Nile insisted,
’So what if I do? Since when did you begin questioning my judgement Nile?’ Zariah’s voice said,
Nile ran a hand through his hair in frustration, knowing Zariah had never been one to appreciate being questioned.
However this was one decision he had to question.
’That’s not the point Alpha, stop avoiding the question.’ Nile thought back.
’You wear us both out to establish a mindlink from such a distance Nile. Yes, I left my magic trace to protect the merman, there is no why to it.’ Zariah replied.
’What do you mean there’s no why to it? How can you put yourself in such a situation just to save some merman, Alpha? If saving this merman is so troublesome, we should just leave him for dead!’ Nile thought back, still raging.
Zariah did not respond for a moment and Nile was beginning to think she had blocked him off again, but after a while, she finally spoke.
’Why do I find it hard to believe you actually mean that? I know you Nile, drop the tough act.’ Zariah finally replied.
’I just don’t see why you have to do this for the merman, Zariah.’ Nile thought in frustration.
’And whatever makes you think I did it for him?’ Zariah thought back, her words giving Nile pause as he understood her meaning.
’I know you Nile, I know your heart. As spirit guide of the Crimson Moon, your love for the creatures of the realm is uncompared, not even I can match up to it.’
’Hence it stands to reason that I know what you would do if you saw the merman in pain, the very same thing I have done...yet I did it not for the merman but to spare you the efforts.’
’Save your magic Nile, you have an army coming after you and they will not stop until they find you. I need you at your strongest in these coming days.’
’I am the King of the Flame Wolves, the pain of the Flame Poison would be to you an excruciating ordeal whereas nothing but a mere inconvenience to me.’
’You cannot protect me from everything Nile, focus on the bigger picture.’ Zariah said in a firm tone.
Nile sighed quietly, truly the torturous pain of the Flame Poison would be hard to withstand yes, but it could never be more than an inconvenience to Zariah.
Compared to Zariah, Nile knew both he and the merman would have a much harder time withstanding the pain of the Flame Poison.
Besides, Zariah could never absorb the entirety of the pain, she could only alleviate a fraction while the merman had to withstand his fair share.
Only in this way could they be assured that the merman would actually survive long enough for him to be saved.
If Nile were to absorb a fraction of the merman’s pain, it would ultimately unsettle his magic and slow him down, jeopardizing the mission also.
’I understand.’ Nile finally relented as he felt Zariah’s presence leave his mind after she hummed in approval.
Nile passed a glare at the unconcious merman, although he did understand, that did not make him any less displeased.
Saving this merman’s life was proving much too troublesome and the Sea Kingdom was equally so ungrateful, Nile hated the fact that he still could not turn a blind eye to their predicament and neither could Zariah.
Since Zariah had decided on this, Nile would abide.
’You had better be worth every second of our effort.’ Nile thought as his glare lingered on the merman for a moment longer before he leaned against the wall once more, his eyes fluttering closed in meditation.
There was still a long journey ahead, Nile would need all the strength he could gather.

Kristen struggled against the darkness tugging at him from all around, no matter how hard he tried, he just could not find a way out.
Darkness was all he could see, pain was all he could feel...an intense, burning pain as though he was being set ablaze on a pyre, sentenced to a fiery death.
’What was this? What was happening to him?’ Kristen wondered as he stared around wildly, searching for even the slightest glimpse of light.
Kristen could not understand, he couldn’t even remember how he had ended up in this situation.
Kristen needed to get out, he needed to get out of here, he couldn’t spend another moment here, not when he had finally found him.
Kristen’s heart beat wildly within his chest as he recalled that moment, that moment where a pair of glowing violet orbs, filled with rage and savagery stared down at him and every thought had flitted away from his mind.
That moment when that hand enclosed around his neck and tingles spread everywhere, shooting from the point of contact to every part of him, setting his heart aflame...a burn that overshadowed the burning pain he had been feeling.
That moment when his pupils dilated, his entire body trembling as every cell and ounce of magic within him screamed in elation,
That moment when he realized that that beautiful violet eyed man was his... that Nile Castiel, spirit guide of Crimson Moon was his.
’Mine!’ Kristen hissed ferociously as he battled his way through the darkness, desperate to get back to that one person the creator had made especially for him, the one person he had waited to for centuries to find.
Yet within his heart, the image of those violet orbs filled with savagery was clear to him and in those eyes, there had not been the slightest bit of recognition whatsoever...
Kristen could not help but wonder why?
Just how had his mate not recognized him?
