Chapter 83: The Floral Domain (Ch.83)

"By decree of our Supreme Queen! Lord Kodin is only allowed to enter the territory of the Floral Domain alone! Every other person is unwelcomed!" A battle fairy announced in a domineering tone.

Darren frowned slightly, exchanging a glance with Allen before he reverted his gaze to the battle fairy.

After a few days of portal travel, they had finally arrived the Floral Domain and although Darren had already anticipated this welcome, he was still greatly displeased by it.

The Fairy Queen was willful, arrogant and unruly and had even dared to appoint herself supreme queen of the supernatural realm, when the peace treaty clearly dictated all supernatural rulers were ranked equal.

Darren did not bother withholding his scoff, if there was anyone who was deserving of the title supreme queen,

Darren felt it could only be Zariah, the Crimson Alpha, since when was it the Fairy Queen’s turn to act so domineering?

Darren believed this was in fact all the fault of the Crimson Moon and although he would never say it out loud, he had always disagreed with their ancestor’s decision to retire from the supernatural world and live reclusively within the Crimson Barrier.

As peaceful as it was within their Crimson Barrier, what happened to their duty to the supernatural realm? How could they be the protectors they had sworn to be?

Now anarchy reigned and there was disorder widespread across the lands, each specie was at the other’s throat,

The supernatural realm had fallen into an abyss of darkness and all the efforts of the Crimson Moon all those centuries ago to pioneer the great alliance were laid to waste,

If they still had not come out this time, Darren wondered what would have been left of the supernatural realm by the time they did come out.

No other had understood this fact, none but Zariah and Darren was grateful that the Crimson Moon finally had an Alpha like his beloved cousin Zariah.

"It seems the Fairy Queen is hell bent on having her way this time, does she truly believe taking me hostage will let her have an upper hand in this war?" Lord Kodin asked in a dark tone,

"It doesn’t matter what she thinks, we will never let you go in alone, My Lord." Gaveth, one of the council vampires hissed fiercely,

"And if that is the only way?" Lord Kodin asked casually?

"Gaveth is right, Zariah left strict instructions that we are not to let Lord Kodin out of our sight at any moment, even if blood must be shed...then so be it. I hope Lord Kodin will not make things difficult for us." Allen said the words on Darren’s mind.

Zariah had left unquestionable orders, if the Fairy Queen dared make any moves against the Lord of the supernatural council, she was to be taught a lesson.

’Strong magic!’ Darren heard his wolf’s voice exclaim in his head and his eyes narrowed slightly just as he felt a new, powerful presence

"That is not up to you to decide Kodin, if you do not wish to be taken hostage by me, you can just leave then." A domineering, yet light, feminine voice interrupted.

The battle fairies who had formed a solid line to block Lord Kodin’s path parted to allow a young and enchantingly beautiful female through, escorted by two rows of fairy maidens and battle fairies.

The female sauntered over to them, her lips curled in a seductive smile and her eyes narrowed, her bare feet moved upon a trail of petals that materialized in mid air and her long white dress trailed behind her.

Her aura screamed of power and majesty and Darren’s nose twitched at the potent flowery scent that was carried on the wind.

Though this enchanting female looked deceptively young, Darren needed no one to tell him that this was precisely the ruler of the Floral Domain, the Fairy Queen.

"It’s the Fairy Queen!" Vima, the female council vampire murmured.

"She looks younger than the last time I saw her. Is she so afraid of wrinkles that she has decided to expend her powers on aging backwards?" Torrent, the council warlock asked in a low tone.

"Quiet!" Lord Kodin snapped as they all watched the grand entrance of the revered Fairy Queen.

"Supreme Queen." The battle fairies greeted in unison, lowering themselves to their knees, their head bowed low.

The Fairy Queen released a low giggle, waving her dainty hands.

"Oh please, forego the formalities my warriors." The fairy queen said magnanimously,

Just as Darren was finding it difficult to believe this graceful and innocent looking female was the cause of almost a half of the supernatural realm’s discords over the past centuries, her gaze turned to them.

The gentle look Darren had first noticed in her eyes disappeared to be replaced by a fierce look.

"Whereas... these guests seem to lack manners, have you not been taught how to pay your respects to a supernatural ruler?" The Fairy Queen asked in a dark, deadly tone.

Darren rolled his eyes and as tempted as he was to speak, he restrained himself, letting Lord Kodin and the council members do the talking until the Crimson Moon was needed.

Lord Kodin stepped forward, lowering his head into a respectful bow.

"Kodin pays respect to Your Grace." Lord Kodin greeted and the rest of the council followed suit, bowing low.

The Fairy Queen’s gaze roved over them for a moment before she waved her hand and a large throne made of vines materialized out of thin air,

The Fairy Queen gracefully took a seat before she finally spoke.

"Now... that is much better, at ease...tell me, to what do I owe the displeasure of your visit?" The Fairy Queen asked,

"First, I did not expect Queen Heveneth would be willing to come out to greet me yourself. After you turned my council away the last time..." Lord Kodin began in a formal tone.

The Fairy Queen threw her head back and laughed freely,

Darren could not believe the entire supernatural realm was under such tension because of her and she still dared to laugh.

"I did not come out for the council... you know I came for you Kodin."

"We did not part on the best of terms a decade ago and so since I heard you are here, certainly I have to come in person." The Fairy Queen replied in a sing-song tone, her lips stretched into a beguiling smile.

Darren quirked a brow at the strangeness of the Fairy Queen’s words.

’Why is she speaking to Lord Kodin in such a fond tone whilst glaring at the rest of us?’ Darren thought to Allen through their mind link.

’Perharps they are old acquaintances? Both have lived very long lives...it is possible their paths have crossed on more comely grounds in the past century.’

’We should remain detached and observe, if anything goes wrong, you act on my cue.’ Allen thought back to Darren.

’Understood.’ Darren replied, keeping his expression unfazed as he watched the exchange.

"It is my honor that Queen Heveneth thinks so highly of me," Lord Kodin replied, still maintaining his formal approach,

"I have always thought highly of you Kodin, I even come out here to hear you out... it’s only sad that you never know how to repay my kindness." The Fairy Queen replied, her voice still coming out in a way that would make one think she was singing rather than talking.

"For discussions as important as this, would you be so kind as to grant us entry into your domain?" Lord Kodin asked,

"I do not deny you entrance at all, however if you will step foot into my territory, then of course you must follow my rules."

"Kodin comes in alone and no one else." The Fairy Queen replied with a bright smile.

"What will you do with my party if I agree to your words?" Lord Kodin asked,

Darren’s head snapped to Lord Kodin, his eyes narrowed.

"Why? They mean nothing to me at all. They can await you outside the barrier or return to wherever they came from, the choice is up to them." The Fairy Queen began,

"Although I would recommend the later...as you might not be leaving my barrier anytime soon." The Fairy Queel added in amusement.

"So you do intend to hold me hostage." Lord Kodin murmured in distaste.

"Not for the war if that is what you are asking... the war will happen with or without you. In whichever case, isn’t it delightful to be held hostage by me?" The Fairy Queen asked, breaking into another round of laughter.

’She is completely nuts.’ Darren thought to Allen, shaking his head in anger, he could not believe this was the same Fairy Queen said to be grieving over her daughter’s disappearance.

To Darren’s view, she seemed to be having the time of her life.

’Agreed.’ Allen concurred without hesitation as they watched the Fairy Queen laugh freely, examining her nails as though all who stood before her were nothing more than a big joke. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

"Queen Heveneth, would it be too much to ask you to let go of past grudges and regard me as just head of the supernatural council for now?" Lord Kodin asked, his tone still calm.

"You wish to know what I would do to envoys who dare to ask me to refrain from avenging my precious Eloneth if I place aside our past... entanglement?" The Fairy Queen asked, her eyes glinting dangerously.

"Well in that case...kill them all!" The Fairy Queen ordered in a sharp tone.
