Chapter 52: Royal Lycan Arena (Ch.52)

The Royal Lycan Arena was a large battle field enclosed inside a large dome, it was the battle ground for the ancient death challenges,

And also were the final stage of the Alpha challenge was carried out.

The wolf shifters were a species that valued strength and honor above all else, right from the ancient days, rank and hierarchy had always been decided by battle challenges.

In the arena, only the strong prevailed and the strong became the law, the only consideration that could restrain strength was strength gained in a dishonorable manner. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Even up till this day, all death challenges approved by the Alpha King were carried out in the Royal Lycan Arena.

The last event to have taken place in the Royal Lycan Arena was the final stage of the Alpha challenge were Askel had stood to accept the challenge of any Alpha who questioned the legitimacy of his succession as Alpha King.

Long before Askel arrived the Royal Lycan Arena, he could already feel the residues of ancient magic, the sky had darkened already at midday and Askel knew the Ethereal wolves would already have felt something was going on in the Ethereal Palace.

As Askel stepped into the dome, the sight he met had his wolf churning in anger and fighting to take control and rip everyone in his sight to shreds,

Prince Treyton stood calmly in the battle Arena across from Lady Floraina who was levitated mid air as she spun her magic to summon the ancient spell,

The battle fairies had erected a magical barrier around the arena that prevented the merfolk from interrupting Lady Floraina’s spell,

Outside the barrier, the battle fairies blocked the path of the Royal Lycan warriors who stood in a battle stance, ready to take action at any moment.

Princess Shariah stood outside the barrier, engaged in a fierce battle with two battle fairies as she attempted to break into the barrier to aide her brother.

The other representatives from the supernatural species were also present, watching the occurrence from a distance but they did not dare interfere.

Askel understood their stance, first, they were in no position to intercede in any situation in Askel’s territory, all decisions were Askel’s to make.

Secondly, they did not dare intercede as no one was yet to fully understand the situation between the full details of the situation between the Floral Domain and the Sea Kingdom.

None of the representatives were willing to act lest it came off as though they were picking a side and they ultimately ended up getting dragged into the feud between the two battling species.

In situations like this, it was always best to maintain neutrality and the only person who had cause and sufficient power to interfere was Askel as this was his territory.

The only other group who could interfere were the supernatural council, however Luther had reported an emergency meeting had been called by the Head of the supernatural council,

The three representatives of the supernatural council had left in a hurry, sending their apologies to Askel and the message from the Head of the supernatural council requesting Askel to pacify the situation till the supernatural council investigated the situation,

Some of the Ethereal Alphas were also present, whilst Luther had reported ordering the Head warrior of the Royal Lycan Pack to prevent the other Ethereal Alphas from interfering.

The less people bearing witness to this chaos, the better it would be for all parties involved.

Askel could not believe a group of unruly representatives had turned his Ethereal Palace into a mini battlefield for them to settle their scores.

This was exactly why Askel had not wanted to make a big affair of his enthronement and open his boundaries to other species.

Not many of the species shared the discipline the wolf shifters valued and the fairies were one of them.

Which was why even hearing of the abduction of Princess Eloneth, Askel doubted the credibility of the Fairy Queen’s words.

It would not be the first time she had raised a false justification to declare war against another specie.

Askel especially found the Fairy Queen distasteful because he himself had been one of her most favored victims,

Askel could not even number the countless times she had ordered an attempt on his life to spur the wolf shifters into declaring war first,

The Fairy Queen had always had an eye on the Ethereal domain for as long as the centuries she had lived, claiming the Ethereal domain had once been a part of the Floral Domain.

Before the dark war, although the wolf shifters were a powerful specie in their own right, the Floral Domain had possessed the largest territory and were the most abundant specie,

They had prided themselves as the rulers of the supernatural realm, however all that had changed after the attack of the forsaken.

The wolf shifters had led the battle against the forsaken and they had won the victory, they had earned the right to be the most respected specie, second only to the great mythical beasts which were the seclusive dragon shifters.

The past was in the past and many generations of the wolf shifters had come and gone, yet the Fairy Queen would not let go of her ambitions.

Perhaps because despite over five generations of the wolf shifters passing by since the dark war, the four hundred year old Fairy Queen was the granddaughter of the Queen Myoter who had ruled the Floral Domain during the great war.

As each specie had entirely different life expectancy, the dragon shifters, fairies, witches, dwarves and merfolk having the longest, the succession history of the supernatural realm was extremely complicated.

In the midst of the chaos, no one had noticed Askel’s arrival, that was until his wolf rose to the surface and a ferocious snarl escaped his lips.

"You come into my lands and think you can throw a parade as you all please?!" Askel growled out, all heads turning to finally recognize his presence.

Askel stormed over to the barrier, intent on putting an end to the madness,

And his gaze narrowed in a deadly glare as the head of the battle fairies blocked his path,

"Alpha King Askel, the Floral Domain holds great respect for the wolf shifters, but the merfolk must give us an explanation today." The tall and lithe warrior declared in a firm tone.

"Step Aside!" Luther snarled, his gaze flashing in rage at the sight of a mere battle fairy blocking the path of the Alpha King.

The head battle fairy was clearly intimidated but held his ground and in the blink of an eye, Luther lunged at the battle fairy and sent him flying across the room with a casual toss.

Askel headed to the barrier where Dechlan and the Royal Lycan warriors were blocked off by the battle fairies.

Dechlan and the Royal Lycan warriors did not make any moves as breaking into the barrier set by the battle fairies was a deadly venture.

"My King." Dechlan and the Royal Lycan warriors greeted,

Askel did not respond, his gaze fixed on the battle fairies surrounding the barrier.

"Princess Shariah...stand down!" Askel ordered the Princess of the merfolk who was still engaged in battle against the battle fairies.

Askel knew if Princess Shariah relented, the other merfolk and battle fairies would too and with Luther restraining the head of the battle fairies, Askel could focus on quelling the situation between Prince Treyton and Lady Shariah.

"King Askel! The fairies have lost their minds! If any harm comes to my brother, the Sea Kingdom will not stand for it!" Princess Shariah raged.

"Stand Down!" Askel snapped in rage, the deep, animalistic voice of his wolf melding with Askel’s rich baritone to form an extremely terrifying sound.

Askel’s dominance poured off him in waves, the oppressive force of it was greater than any Alpha King that had come before him and even the representatives from the other species could not withstand it.

Even before Askel was known to be the Ethereal King long prophesied, his dominance had always been unprecedented across the supernatural realm.

Princess Shariah struggled to oppose Askel’s orders but found herself dropping to a single knee against her will.

Princess Shariah released a furious screech as she struggled against submitting to Askel’s dominance, her scales rising up to the sides of her face and her eyes glowing.

The other representatives, the Ethereal Alphas, the Royal Lycan warriors and everyone were only able to resist Askel’s dominance because it was concentrated on Princess Shariah.

Prince Treyton and Lady Floraina were protected from Askel’s dominant aura as it could not penetrate the barrier erected by the battle fairies.

"Lady Floraina, if you insist to proceed with this, the Floral Domain will be making an enemy of the Ethereal Domain...you should know well enough that I do not show mercy to my enemies... I will only say this once, stand down." Askel warned in a dark, deadly tone.
