The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 49: Hurting ()
"You... failed?" The dark, hollow voice asked in a slow, predatory tone.
Two subordinates knelt in the dark study, one visibly trembled in fear whilst the other looked clearly apprehensive but maintained a calm disposition.
There was the echo of slow, pacing footsteps, moving to and fro in an extremely slow manner across the study.
"Alpha, we are not sure how it happened, the charmer demon spirit was vanquished so quickly." The subordinate who was in a calmer state replied in a low tone.
"Vanquished? By who? The High Oracle was not present at the moon banquet, Was this not the information you have reported to me?" The dark, hollow voice asked.
"Yes Alpha, we believed so too. However according to our sources, the host is alive and well and the aura of the charmer demon spirit is completely dispersed." The subordinate reported.
The dark, hollow voice did not respond for a time, however the pacing movement still echoed throughout the study.
"Truly it is not beyond King Askel to vanquish a charmer demon spirit and the other noble guests present are all powerful figures in their own rights,"
"A charmer demon spirit is powerful indeed, but nothing compared to the elite of the supernatural realm, It was presumptuous of us to assume they would be caught off guard by a charmer demon spirit."
"Yet it would take great efforts for anyone other than the High Oracle to complete disperse the lingering demonic aura of the charmer demon spirit..." The dark, hollow voice murmured his thoughts aloud.
"Are there any detailed reports of the moon banquet?" The dark hollow voice asked again,
"It is difficult for us to look into the situation, ever since the return of King Askel, our sources have swayed in their loyalty and the security of the Ethereal Palace is impregnable, it is difficult for information transactions." The subordinate replied again.
"King Askel...it has only been a year since your return and your mere presence has already begun to foil my plans..." The dark, hollow voice muttered through gritted teeth.
"Rumours have it that King Askel has found his mate on the night of the moon banquet, a she wolf associated with the unknown party. I hear the charmer demon spirit was recognized immediately by the she wolf and vanquished by her subordinate."
These words were spoken by another different voice entirely that did not belong to either of the two subordinates kneeling.
A figure emerged from the shadows, passing a distasteful glance to the two subordinates kneeling before he reverted his attention to the man with the dark, hollow voice.
The new figure lowered himself into a small bow before he righted himself again.
"King Askel has found his mate...he has found his mate, a female with the unknown party is King Askel’s mate. The Ethereal Alpha King now has a queen to rule at his side..." The dark, hollow voice murmured quietly.
The subordinates watched in absolute silence as their Alpha processed the new information which had just been supplied by the new voice.
The expression on the faces of the subordinates revealed that they were greatly displeased by the entrance of the new figure who had now stolen the limelight by providing note worthy information.
"Unfortunately, the moon banquet hosted only the highest ranked Ethereal Alphas and the representatives from the supernatural races, hence I was not opportune to attend."
"Had I been there, I would have ensured to smoothen things in a way that would definitely please you, Alpha." The new voice said in a regretful tone.
"Do no patronize me, I know your ability and I have my own plans as to where is suitable for you to be put to use. Till then...you are not to reveal yourself." The dark, hollow voice said in a warning tone.
"I understand your intentions Alpha, I am prepared and await your order." The new voice replied with a bow.
"I do not know if it is luck or merely heaven’s blessing, to think King Askel would still be able to find his fated in this supernatural realm... despite the truth of what he is..."
"A female associated with the unknown party? I suppose it must be their mysterious leader then. If your reports about the female was accurate, then King Askel has found himself a worthy companion."
"This unknown party is becoming even more note worthy, perhaps it is for the best the charmer demon spirit was unsuccessful."
"A mate? It seems we have finally found the weakness of the Ethereal King. I must know more on this female, I must know everything about her." The dark hollow, voice insisted in an urgent tone.
"We will find a way infiltrate the Ethereal Palace and gather the needed information..." One of the subordinates said with a bow.
The dark, hollow voice chuckled quietly.
"If the Ethereal Palace cannot be infiltrated, we will need to draw them out of it then. The deceased Alpha King has left us sufficient openings, it might be time to begin putting them to use." The dark, hollow voice said.
"You mean?" One of the subordinates asked for clarification.
"The supernatural realm has been quiet for far too long, it is time to make things a little lively...But remember, you must borrow the hands of another, do not reveal yourselves." The dark, hollow voice warned.

"She is ours!" The beast roared in Askel’s mind for the hundredth time.
Askel’s head exploded in pain as he struggled to contain the beast, he heard his wolf whine in pain, neither wolf nor man were strong enough to withstand the ferocity of the beast locked within their mind.
Askel cradled his head, his claws elongating against his will and piercing his skin, blood trailing down the side of his face,
Askel opened his mouth to speak and all the sound that came out was a ferocious growl, his canines pierced painfully into his lips,
"Stop! That’s enough!" Askel yelled to the beast in his mind,
The beast roared in Askel’s mind, taking Askel’s reprimand to be a challenge of it’s dominance.
Askel groaned as waves of pain wracked through his body, the beast attempting to force a shift whilst Askel and his wolf resisted it with all their might.
Askel knew clearly that if the beast successfully took over, it would wreck havoc across the Ethereal domain, leaving carnage in it’s wake like it had done many times before,
And it would not stop until it had gotten what it wanted.
Askel understood the beast’s rage, since they were binded together now, Askel was the beast and the beast was Askel, the two could never be set apart again.
Now, they had found their mate, while Askel had waited an entire decade for her, the beast had waited centuries...
Yet she did not want them, she was going to reject them, Askel was devastated, he felt like he was about to loose his mind,
As he watched her walk away from him, he had never felt so devastated all his life, so alone, and in that moment of weakness, the beast had broken free.
It had been the better half of a day since then and Askel was still in a state of partial shift, he had tried all he could to calm the beast, but the beast would not have it.
All it wanted was it’s mate, Askel wanted her too, but he did not know how to make the beast understand that this was not helping,
If anyone saw them like this, if she saw them like this, she would be horrified and would not think twice to complete her rejection.
Askel wished the beast would just calm down, his mind was in shambles, his emotions were all over the place, he was mentally and physically exhausted, he did not have the will or strength to battle the beast any further.
"You should have marked her when I told you to! You should have not given her the chance to reject us! This is your fault!" The beast roared furiously,
The beast was only acting on it’s primal needs, it had pushed Askel to mark their mate without her consent and that had only succeeded in enraging their mate further,
Yet the beast remained unrepentant, it believed their mate would be compelled to accept their love so long as she bore their mark,
Askel had reminded it time and time again that this was not the barbaric centuries were dominant wolves acquired females like they were trophies,
Their mate was not just any female, she was a warrior wolf, an enforcer wolf to be exact, she was fierce and powerful and commanded respect,
She would never tolerate being treated less, Askel would never forgive himself if he treated her less,
The beast was simply too adamant, it knew the truth clearly, it knew Askel was right yet it turned a deaf ear and chose to rage, whilst knowing it’s rage would only hurt Askel and his wolf and the beast too as all three were now one...
Askel understood the beast was hurting, yet he wished the beast could understand he was not the only one... Askel was hurting too.
