Chapter 39: A Worthy Match (Ch.39)

Askel watched her eyes widen, he saw the array of emotions that flitted across her crimson orbs for a very brief moment before her eyes turned cold.

Although she closed herself up immediately and concealed her emotions from him, the one thing Askel could see clearly was the fact that she was wary of him.

Askel could not understand this reaction, he watched with possessive rage as his mate for whom he had waited all his life took another step back and away from him.

"You..." Askel began in a low, dangerous growl.

"...are yours? I already heard you the first time." She replied.

Her voice was soft yet firm, light yet imposing and carrying a graceful dominance with it.

Her voice left Askel’s heart trembling and his knees weak as surely as her words did, her affirmation soothed Askel’s rage immediately and his wolf growled in approval, retreating back into Askel’s mind in satisfaction.

Askel himself was elated, despite her strange reaction to him, his mate had admitted that she was his and that was all the assurance Askel needed to hear.

"You are beautiful, my precious... gods, you are beautiful..." Askel murmured quietly as he lifted a hand to her face slowly.

Askel could see her eyes narrow as she watched the movement of his hand, however Askel was delighted and deeply grateful when she did not move away,

Having just met his mate after waiting for so long, his wolf desperately needed the skin contact and his first instinct had been to claim her lips yet he feared that would be too forward, especially before so many eyes.

Although Askel himself could not care less if the whole world stared as he loved his mate, but Askel knew he had to consider his beloved mate first, her needs would always come before his and he would rather die than cause her any discomfort.

And so Askel had settled for caressing her face and Askel was grateful to her for allowing him make the skin contact his wolf needed, despite her unease.

As insignificant as a brief caress would be to anyone else, Askel’s hand trembled as they lifted to her face, 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

For Askel, this would be the first of many times his skin would meet his mate’s in a show of his love and adoration and so to him, it was a cherished moment.

Askel heard his mate’s quiet gasp as his palm met her skin and Askel himself let out an inaudible gasp.

What Askel could only describe to be electrifying jolts rushed through his hand from the point his finger tips met her skin and the pleasurable thrills shook him to the core.

Askel smiled adoringly as his mate jerked away from his touch, her eyes wide with surprise.

She quickly recovered though and Askel resisted the urge to pout as her expression reverted to it’s original cold state.

Finally the world around him returned to Askel’s notice and Askel could see clearly that the entire banquet had come to a halt and all eyes were fixed on him and his mate.

Askel could also feel his mother’s sharp gaze from behind and Askel knew what those eyes meant, now that the Alpha King had found his mate, the big question remained if she possessed a status worthy enough to match his.

Although the bond of mates was undeniable, the supernatural world had strayed so far from the original intentions of the Creator that they now considered power, status and prestige necessary traits to be possesed by a mate.

For the Alpha King of the Ethereal domain who was a major leader of the supernatural realm, the supernatural world now wondered if his mate would be worthy enough to sit at his side on the Ethereal throne and don the crown of Ethereal Queen.

Amongst all who wondered, Askel knew his mother was the one most intent as he heard her footsteps approach from behind.

Askel tilted his head and passed his mother a sharp glare, shutting her up before she could speak in her usual grating way and offend his mate.

"My King, would it be too forward for me to ask for an introduction?" Queen Sancia asked through gritted teeth as she was forced to swallow down the biting words she previously had on her tongue.

"Yes, it would." Askel replied absentmindedly, not even sparing his mother a glance.

Askel only had eyes for his beautiful mate, he could not get his fill of taking on her perfection, where did he have the leisure time to bother with others?

"What is your name, beloved?" Askel asked in a low, adoring tone.

She was quiet for moment while Askel knew the whole banquet filled with the greatest powers of the supernatural realm awaited her response with bated breaths.

Askel himself did not care for what the supernatural leaders wanted to hear, he did not care for his mate’s origin, status, prestige or background... none of these were important to Askel.

Askel just desperately wanted to put a name to the perfection that was his mate, he wanted to hear just how her name fit his tongue perfectly because truly it was always meant to be called by him.

"Zariah... Zariah Torin, Head warrior of the Crimson Moon Pack." She introduced in a calm tone.

Askel could hear the gasps of shock spread all across the banquet, even his mother staggered backwards in shock.

What was prestige, status, power or influence compared to the Crimson Moon? They were at the peak of it all, across the supernatural realm, there was no existence more powerful than the Crimson Moon.

The highest ranked warrior of the most revered Crimson Moon Pack was mated to the Alpha King of Ethereal domain.

In all regards, it was a status more than worthy to stand at Askel’s side... this was precisely what could be called a match made in heaven.

"Crimson Moon?!" Lord Kriden exclaimed right before he lowered his head in a deep bow of respect.

Every guest present followed suit as all heads bowed to Askel’s beloved mate in reverence.

To the supernatural realm, the Crimson Moon was an idolized existence.

No matter how low the supernatural realm had fallen, they still clearly remembered the centuries old gratitude to the champions of the Dark war, the Creator’s first blood lycans who had vanquished the forsaken and banished the darkness.

Askel himself was astonished to realize he was mated to a true Crimson wolf, to a first blood lycan, to the very definitions of power and prestige, but what was most important to Askel was their unmatched honor that had won his respect right from his childhood.

However all of this were not significant anymore, only that Askel had finally found his mate.

Askel now understood why he had been unable to find her all this while despite searching through the entire Ethereal domain since his sixteenth summer.

Beyond the Crimson barrier was uncharted territory, unidentified and off limits to all but the Crimson Wolves.

Askel’s heart tightened as he realized had Alpha Moonstone refused his invitation, he never would have gotten to meet his mate in his lifetime.

Askel was now deeply grateful to Alpha Moonstone who had honored the invitation of the Royal Lycans for the first time in decades and even reluctantly grateful to the Creator’s designs.

"It is the deepest honor of Crimson Moon to have once again graced the supernatural realm and most importantly the Ethereal Domain of our kindred."

"After centuries, we have received Alpha Moonstone’s command to honor Alpha King Askel Niolen as Ethereal King and we will offer our hand to ensure the Ethereal domain and the supernatural realm is restored to it’s original glory...You may all rise." She said in a firm, imposing tone.

Askel watched with awe as his mate spoke with such dominance that almost rivalled his, her bearing and disposition was not inferior to that of a true blooded Alpha... this was indeed the level of excellence that could only be possessed by the first blood lycans.

And the moment her imposing gaze returned to Askel, Askel felt humbled to be on the receiving end of such great honor.

"Alpha King Askel Niolen, on behalf of Alpha Moonstone and all of Crimson Moon, I Zariah Torin congratulate you on your ascension to the throne." She said, tilting her head down in a bow.

"Alpha Moonstone’s intentions are deeply appreciated." Askel replied with a small smile playing on his lips.

"Let words of my gratitude be sent to her, for honoring my invitation and dispatching a party to grace my enthronement, but most importantly...for sending me my queen."Askel said in a deep, meaningful tone.

Askel took a step closer to her, covering the distance she had previously created between them as his gaze held hers.

"Let the Ethereal domain know, I have found my mate, my beloved...my other half. Zariah... the one and only Ethereal Queen of wolves... Zariah, my Queen." Askel declared with the full extent of his dominance, his lips stretched in an adoring smile.
