Chapter 161: A Raging Dionne (Ch.161)

Dionne took a step back from the door, she was tempted to barge in and offer a piece of her mind but Dionne barely restrained herself.

Rage surged within her as she turned and stormed down the hall, heading back the way she had come.

All her life, Dionne had been raised knowing that the world beyond the barrier was selfish and self seeking, measuring gains and benefits before honor and justice, they could never be trusted.

And here came the proof, that all Dionne had heard of the world beyond the barrier was exactly true.

"Would a bond with the Crimson Alpha be to their favor?" They had said.

Dionne laughed indignantly, though she found nothing whatsoever.

The mere thought of what she had just heard had Dionne’s hands itching to rip Elder Jared a new mouth but Dionne curbed her violent urges.

She was unwilling to stoop low enough to have to defend Zariah before the council of the Royal Lycan Pack.

Dionne did not head to her own quarters, instead she went straight to Allen’s quarters, her hands clenched into tight fists.

Her thoughts were completely clouded with rage that Dionne could barely notice anything else but her intent.

"Nile... for the Creator’s sake, you have to stop shutting me out." Kristen who had been leaned against Nile’s door pleaded.

Down the hall, Nile had just stepped out of his quarters, perhaps to pay Zariah a visit, Dionne did not truly care for his intentions at this moment.

"Have I not said you must practice restraint, beloved? Worldly attachments..." Nile began but cut himself off when he noticed Dionne.

"Dee?" Nile called to Dionne as she stormed right past him without so much as a glance.

Nile exchanged a glance with Kristen who shook his head to say he also had no idea.

"Dionne?! What in the Creator’s name has got you so angered?" Nile called, hurrying after Dionne in bafflement.

Dionne did not think much when she shoved open Allen’s door without even knocking, storming right up to a surprised looking Allen who sat at his desk, reading through a report.

Dionne walked straight up to Allen’s desk and slammed her hands down on them, a low growl rumbling out of her.

"Dionne, what has gotten into you?" Allen asked slowly, passing a look to Nile.

"Zariah is hurt! We do not even know when she will awaken and they... dare discuss a new mate for their King!" Dionne hissed out, her eyes glowing to reveal the presence of her wolf. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

"Now I am not one to care for propriety or alliances, that is for the rest of you to worry over."

"Zariah is my charge! And I will not tolerate this disrespect! Not even for a second! Deal with it, or I shall! In blood!" Dionne vowed fiercely.

Allen was quiet for a moment, again he exchanged a glance with Nile and they both pondered over Dionne’s report.

"Fine... If you cannot determine what is right to do at this point, then I will! We’re leaving, this instant!" Dionne declared.

"What did you hear, Dee? Calm yourself and tell me." Allen reasoned.

"Would a bond with the Crimson Alpha be to our favor?"

"We must decide if the Royal Lycan Pack shall deliver it’s supremacy at the feet of the Crimson Alpha as she takes the crown of Ethereal Queen..." Dionne repeated the words her rage could allow.

Allen’s gaze narrowed slightly as he rose to his feet. To the Crimson wolves, there was no greater insult than this.

Allen did try to think reasonably, but he could only come to one conclusion.

"Zariah is in no condition to be at the center of a power tussle. The Ethereal Palace will have to sort itself out." Allen decided as he grabbed his coat.

"I am in agreement. Alpha may awaken sooner back home, we should return first... and let her decide what next when she recovers." Nile said without hesitation.

Allen lead the way to Zariah’s quarters and they arrived soon to find Darren and King Askel were both present.

King Askel glanced up at the arrival of the Crimson wolves.

"What is this about?" King Askel asked with a raised brow.

Allen held King Askel’s gaze for a moment before he moved his attention to Darren.

"Dionne, prepare Zariah to be moved. Darren, we leave for Crimson Moon at dawn." Allen passed his instructions in a clear and firm tone.

"What is that to mean?!" King Askel hissed as he got up to his feet, moving so he stood before Zariah, blocking the Crimson wolves from getting closer.

"With all due respect, Your Grace. Step aside." Allen said, taking a warning step forward.

Allen was in no mood to entertain King Askel’s resistance.

"Allen, what is this madness?" King Askel demanded in bafflement.

"Step aside!" Dionne snarled impatiently as she stormed forwards, intending to force her way past King Askel.

A ferocious snarl rumbled out from King Askel, his wolf rising to the surface.

"Not another step!" King Askel warned.

"Allen, Nile... what is this about?" Darren asked warily, staring between his pack and King Askel.

"Just...say something!" King Askel hissed, struggling to restrain his wolf.

"There is a concern being discussed by your council. They seem to believe Alpha Zariah is not a fitting mate to you, King Askel."

"As such, we find it imperative to secure the safety of our Alpha until these concerns are properly seen to." Nile explained, always the one to maintain his calm.

"To be clear...it is you who is not fitting!" Dionne added with a snarl.

King Askel blinked in astonishment, easing his stance.

"What are you talking about?" King Askel asked with a frown.

"You mean to say you are are unaware that at this very moment, your council deliberates on who is to be your new mate?" Allen asked blankly.

"I..." King Askel began to respond but was cut off by a quiet, almost inaudible voice.

"What is this ruckus?" Zariah’s tired grumble sent the entire room into silence.
