Chapter 155: Departing The Floral Domain (Ch.155)

Askel stood before a floor length mirror, taking in his haggard appearance.

His hair had grown out much longer than he preferred it, Askel would always leave his hair just long enough to graze his shoulder.

Askel mostly wore it in a pony tail, but there were still times he would have it braided.

At this time, Askel’s hair had grown beyond the limit he preferred and the trims were now uneven.

Askel’s beard had also grown out, he could see clearly all that was wrong with his appearance but Askel could not find it in himself to care.

All Askel cared about at this time was his beloved mate, truly Zariah would be all Askel cared for for the rest of his days.

But at this time when Zariah’s condition showed no improvements, Askel felt all the more devastated and helpless.

What mattered how he looked? If Askel had his way, he would sit right by Zariah’s side and not move for even a moment till she regained consciousness.

The only thing that moved Askel to see to necessities was the fact that Zariah would want him to be fine and in good health when she did regain consciousness.

"She would want me to be fine even with her condition, it is cruel of her...but I do not mind if she is cruel to me, I do not mind if she places her duty above me or hurts me with her rejection..."

"I just want her back...as long as she is fine, I can deal with anything." Askel whispered in a shaky tone, his heart aching terribly.

"It’s time." Lucas’s voice drew Askel out of his thoughts.

Askel sighed as he buttoned up his inner shirt before he pulled on his outer robes and strapped the cuffs.

Askel ran his hand through his hair, he did not truly care to do anymore than dress.

"Nile will cast the portal, the Crimson wolves are all ready to leave." Lucas continued.

After another week, the affair of the Sea kingdom and the floral domain had been concluded, at least just enough that all other concerns could be left to the supernatural council.

It was time to return to the Ethereal domain now, Askel had already grown unsettled in this floral domain and his patience had worn out.

After all the troubles Zariah had to see to, Askel could finally take her back home...to their home.

The delegates from the Sea kingdom would also return to their domain today, the supernatural council would head to the sea kingdom to assist King Treyton in pacifying the aftermath of the war.

But Askel, Lucas and the Crimson wolves would return to the Ethereal domain now. They had played their parts.

"The mers hope to bid their good-byes to Her Grace, would you allow it?" Lucas asked as Askel headed over to the bed.

Askel said nothing in response, gazing down at Zariah adoringly.

"I’ll take you home now, Mhijani." Askel whispered, brushing away the stray strands of hair that fell over Zariah’s face.

Saying nothing more, Askel carefully lifted Zariah up into his arms, before he headed out of the guest room.

Allen, Nile, Darren and Kristen all waited outside and bid greetings to Askel the moment he stepped out.

Askel hummed in acknowledgement of their greetings as he lead the way down the hall till they got out into the courtyard of the Floral Palace.

The courtyard was quite occupied, the supernatural council, the council of the floral domain and the delegates from the Sea Kingdom all waited outside.

Askel frowned slightly at the sight of the crowd, but he said nothing of it, ignoring the somber looks on the faces of all who were gathered as they stared at Zariah.

Askel hated the look in their eyes, he did not think anyone had the rights to feel sympathetic towards Zariah, not after they had all contributed to putting Zariah in such a condition.

The Floral Domain, the Sea Kingdom and their meaningless war.

The supernatural council and their talks of duty and what not, everyone had a hand in it one way or the other.

"King Askel..." King Treyton began but Askel cut him off.

"You only stand here alive and well because of Zariah...all of you, I do hope you never forget that."

"The Ethereal domain is not as merciful as Crimson moon. Should anything go wrong with Zariah, I will seek an explanation from you all standing here." Askel stated clearly.

"The Sea Kingdom will make amends in anyway you require of us." King Treyton spoke first with no hesitation.

Askel’s gaze moved to settle on King Dinani who inclined his head in a slight bow.

"The Floral Domain will do the same." King Dinani agreed before he nudged his mate forward.

Queen Heveneth had been quietly standing behind her husband and so Askel had not even noticed her, but now, she was right within Askel’s sight and a low growl rumbled out of him.

"King Askel... I truly am sorry for all the trouble I have caused you." Queen Heveneth apologized sincerely.

Askel could hear the sincerity in her tone, but he did not care in the slightest.

"The Ethereal domain will respect the vow of truce, I will not exact my rage on the Floral Domain this time. Yet never... never will our two domains be allied." Askel clarified firmly.

"I understand.... I just hope..." Queen Heveneth began, passing a glance to her daughter.

Askel’s gaze moved to the fairy princess for a moment and then to Darren before he breathed a sigh, knowing what Zariah would want of him.

"She is Darren’s mate now... she will not be harmed in my territory or beyond." Askel stated blankly.

"Thank you." Queen Heveneth breathed in relief as she stepped back.

"Askel, I will see to things here and sort out the ripple effect across the realm. You just take good care of Zari." Lord Kodin spoke up, walking over to Askel and placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"I will have to trouble you then." Askel replied with a nod.

Lord Kodin glanced down at Zariah held in Askel’s arms and he breathed a quiet sigh.

"Do not fret, Askel. She is strong, this one... she always has been, she will be fine." Lord Kodin assured.

Askel nodded in gratitude before he turned to Nile, gesturing for him to cast the portal.

"The sooner we are away from this god forsaken realm, the better." Askel’s wolf, Vance thought to him.

"Agreed." Askel thought back and his beast echoed it’s agreement with a low snarl.
