Chapter 137: To The Coral Seas (Ch.137)

The sea had returned to it’s previous calm, the currents settling into a slow drift as Zariah swam forwards,

The crowd of battle mers parted and thousands of eyes trailed her movement but Zariah paid them no heed, she only had eyes for a pair of golden orbs.

Although weakened by blood loss, King Askel had remained conscious throughout the battle and even now he stared back at Zariah as she swam towards him.

His gaze trailed down the length of her tail before they returned to settle on her eyes,

"You return to me even more of mystery than you left my side, what am I to do with you, Mhíjani?" King Askel muttered, his tone strained as he forced out the words despite his pain.

Zariah arrived beside Gretha, reaching a hand out to take King Askel’s outstretched hand, his larger hand enclosed over hers and although his grip was weak, his thumb rubbed the back of her hand in a bid to ease her concern.

"How is he?" Zariah asked as she turned to Nile who had tended to the wound using his spirit magic and had successfully stopped the bleeding.

"I have halted the bleeding momentarily but the magic of the trident hinders his accelerated healing, I will put him to sleep first, it will help to keep his condition stable."

"To properly tend to it will take a while and I will need more time..." Nile murmured before glancing around the crowd of mers who kept a reasonable distance but looked on, numbering to over two thousand.

"In a more enclosed location... preferably." Nile added and Zariah nodded.

"Do what you will, I trust you." Zariah replied as she gave her permission for Nile to put King Askel to sleep.

"I..." King Askel began to argue but Zariah cut him off.

"I will be right by your side when you awaken Askel...rest now." Zariah assured him and King Askel complied, his eyes drifting closed as Nile put him to sleep.

Zariah sighed as she felt an intense exhaustion tug at her muscles, she had strained her element core and wielded the Crimson Flame for much too long...it would take it’s toll on her.

Zariah knew it would take sometime before she recovered from the energy she had expended today but it was worth it, other than Lord Imain...there had been no casualties in the Northern Seas.

Some battle mers had been injured in the battle, but no innocent life had been sacrificed and to Zariah, this was all that mattered.

"Your scales..." Lord Melven said as Zariah turned to him.

Zariah stared down at her scale, the gleaming red moon shaped scales were the exact color of Zariah’s hair and her brows furrowed slightly as her gaze moved to Lord Melven’s own scales.

Lord Melven’s silvery grey scales were exactly in the same moon shape and Zariah tilted her head to the side.

"There is a connection?" Zariah asked knowingly and Lord Melven nodded, his gaze elated.

Zariah sighed inaudibly, from the moment she had shifted into a mer, she had already figured there would be a tale behind it... things like this did not just happen spontaneously.

"Come with me to the Coral Seas, there is much we must talk about." Lord Melven said in a hopeful tone.

Zariah passed a glance at an unconscious King Askel, although the Coral Seas were a great distance away, that Tide Trident could shorten that distance with a single portal and his treatment would not be delayed.

"Very well... I have had it with the main seas and the Northern Seas are not so welcoming either, we will head to your Coral Sea... then you tell me just what is going on here." Zariah decided.

"Lady Zariah..." Prince Treyton began to protest at her declaration of dislike for the main seas which was completely justified since Zariah had spent most of her time there in their dungeons.

Zariah turned her gaze to him, her brows furrowing when she noticed Princess Shariah at his side.

The Sea King had decided to leave his daughter out of the mix, Zariah could understand him.

The Sea King had just these two children, if the event in the Northern Seas ended in a disaster, at least one of them would still be safe.

Princess Shariah immediately diverted her gaze, perhaps ashamed to meet Zariah’s eyes and Zariah could not even be bothered with her.

"Go to the dome with the guardians left, inspect it’s condition... the Sea King is yet to emerge, the Sea Kingdom might be crowning a new king yet still." Zariah murmured as she stretched the Trident out to Prince Treyton. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"The Trident and your cousin Kristen, all returned to you in one piece... I have kept my word, I will not interfere with the affairs of the Sea Kingdom any further." Zariah added.

Prince Treyton accepted the Tide Trident, a look of gratitude on his face.

"I..." He began but Zariah shook her head.

"It has been an eventful day for the Seven Seas, you are Prince of the Sea and rightful heir to the throne, you will need to restore order. Go to your father, do not linger." Zariah said, gesturing with her head towards the Sea Dome.

Prince Treyton nodded as he infused his magic into the Tide Trident, stretching it out, he summoned a portal that would take them to the Coral Seas.

"Then I will entrust our honored guests to you Lord Melven, once I have confirmed the state within the dome, I will come to the Coral Seas as well." Prince Treyton said.

"As you should." Lord Melven replied with a nod.

Zariah let her gaze wander over the Northern Seas, lingering on the Sea Dome for a moment, the ominous aura exuded off of it unsettled her greatly.

"There is too much about the supernatural realm I have been ignorant of...how am I to protect a world that is strange even to me?" Zariah murmured to herself before she shook her head and crossed into the portal.
