The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 135: He Dies ()
Zariah felt a foreign energy surge through her, an energy she could not even recognized as every other thought flitted away, every cell in her body screaming for Lord Imain’s blood.
Lord Imain lifted the Tide Trident up and the waters began swooshing and swirling around him with rapidly growing currents.
"Alpha, the currents are too treacherous, let the Sea Lords handle this. We will take him down." Lord Melven reasoned, his voice sounded far away to Zariah who did not bother sparing him a glance.
"Lord Melven is right, we will bring him to you." Lord Jole supported, his grip tightening around his sword.
Again, Zariah paid them no heed as she stepped off Gretha’s back but Lord Melven moved to stand before her.
Zariah’s gaze narrowed into a glare, resting on the mer blocking her path. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"Move." Zariah ordered in a dark, domineering tone.
The dominance Zariah exuded was unrivalled and Lord Melven’s eyes widened slightly as he moved to the side on instinct.
Zariah moved past him, her Sea Pod gliding through the sea steadily, heading for the whirlpool Lord Imain had created using the Tide Trident.
The Sea pod stopped before the whirlpool and Zariah watched it’s movement with an indifferent expression,
"Do you really think this is going to keep me away?" Zariah asked in a dark tone as she glared at the whirlpool.
"Come at me if you dare! I will let you have a taste of the power of the sea!" Lord Imain hissed fiercely, his voice emitted in ear piercing sound waves.
Zariah watched the swirling waves, with the Tide Trident in Lord Imain’s hands, he could command the waves as he pleased.
Lord Imain could see his army was no longer on his side, he was taking a drastic measure and with such a powerful weapon in his hands and with the terrain that contradicted her element, Zariah was at a great disadvantage.
Zariah’s brows twitched as she just stared at the currents separating her from her prey, her eyes were lit up with rage as the storm within her grew even more ferocious,
All Zariah could see was red, her mind was clouded with the image of King Askel bleeding out, his gasp of pain replayed in her mind over and over again and her hands clenched into tight fists, so tight her knuckles turned white.
"And if I require your life? Would you still be willing? With no regrets?"
Zariah had asked him these words once, she had actually asked such a question...but now, the answer to her question had played out right before her eyes.
Zariah’s heart constricted painfully as she watched the waves, her fear of this element was strong, she knew if she could fall to anything it would be this... the sea, the water element.
The power of the sea... the power of water, the power that opposed Zariah’s flames, the only force that weakened her.
Zariah had never understood it, why the waters had always been dreadful to her, why she could never be like other flame elementals who could coexist with it.
Even Zariah’s flames could burn brightly in water, but Zariah herself just could not withstand it...it stirred something within her she could not understand, it unsettled her in ways she had never felt before.
It chilled right into her bones as though attempting to consume her, to pull her down into it’s freezing depths and bury her beneath it’s turbulent waves for eternity.
Yet in this moment, Zariah wanted to know, she wanted to understand just why? Why could the water affect her so? What was this element that it dared intimidate her? What was it?
Zariah reached within her and that foreign power surging through within her, she reached to it and forced it out, unleashing a power she had never sensed before but felt clearly in this moment.
Ancient magic exploded out of Zariah in a powerful wave, shooting across the sea and the quaking of the sea bed was enough to tell the Northern barrier had crashed.
Zariah gasped, her back arching as she felt her bones cracking and her skin prickling, her robes ripped off of her and her legs were forced together as though crashing into each other and melding together,
A scream tore out of her lips, sending a torrent of Crimson Flame shooting out of her hands as her legs merged together to form a single appendage.
Zariah’s claws elongated, scales growing rapidly over her skin and fins jutted out from her elbows.
"What is this? What is happening to me?" Zariah wondered as pain tore through her.
Zariah had only felt this kind of bone crushing pain once in her life...in that moment when she had first shifted into her wolf form.
But as much as the pain was alike, it was still much different because Zariah was not shifting into a wolf at all, she couldn’t...not anymore, she had lost her form.
What Zariah was shifting into was something different entirely, a creature of the sea, with blazing red hair and a tail 13ft long, covered in Crimson red scales curved in the shape of the moon and gleaming brightly,
In the blink of an eye, Zariah became something she could not recognize.
"A mer with moon scales! Impossible!" Lord Melven exclaimed from where he hovered, watching Zariah’s transformation along with the entire Northern Seas and many more.
The Northern barrier had crashed the moment Zariah had unleashed the magic within her and the battle mers from the other seas had also arrived the scene, watching in awe.
Zariah glanced down at her tail that now swayed in the waters where her legs should have been, her thoughts torn between horror and her overwhelming rage,
Zariah glanced over her shoulder, her eyes meeting a pair of enchanting golden orbs, and though Zariah could see his pain, he held her gaze, his eyes overflowing with adoration and every other thought... every fear, doubts or concern flitted away from Zariah’s heart.
"No one touches what is mine... not this time, not in this life. He dies... whoever hurts you..dies." Zariah declared knowing King Askel could hear her,
Although he would not understand, just how much Zariah had already lost... she was not willing to lose again.
A small smile settled on his lips and he nodded his approval.
