Chapter 120: Mark My Words (Ch.120)

The man in the black cloak lunged at Queen Heveneth in a flash and Queen Heveneth swung her whip whilst her wings fluttered, lifting her off the ground.

The snow whip cut through the air with blinding speed but the man in the black cloak was faster, dodging out of the way,

The snow whip slammed into an ice pillar and the pillar shattered from the force, splinters of ice flying everywhere

The black cloaked man hissed lowly as he leaped even further away to escape the sharp splinters, delaying his attack for a few seconds.

The moment the ice splinters settled, the black cloaked man lunged again and Queen Heveneth wasted no time pulling back her whip,

The length of it recoiling back towards her and with a quick twist of her wrist, it was flung out again, right at the black cloaked man,

This time, the black cloaked man did not stop but instead leaped over the whip, leaning back so even when the length recoiled, it passed right over him.

It was only the first attack but Queen Heveneth could already see that whoever the black cloaked man was, he would not be an easy opponent.

Queen Heveneth knew she could not let him get too close to her and so chanted a spell, sending a magic attack hurtling at the man in black cloak but once again, he easily dodged out of the way.

The movement of the black cloaked man was a blur, clearly he was a skilled warrior with lithe and agile movements as he easily deflected all of Queen Heveneth’s attacks from her whip and her magic spells.

Queen Heveneth attacked fiercely and unrelentingly, however her frustration and rage only grew the more the black cloaked man escaped her attack.

It seemed as though Queen Heveneth’s attacks only hindered him from approaching her but just like he could not approach, Queen Heveneth also was not gaining any advantage over him.

The two battled, and while Queen Heveneth attacked, the black cloaked man defended, merely dodging away from Queen Heveneth’s attacks.

Queen Heveneth felt her frustration reaching dangerous heights as she called upon her magic,

She absorbed the ice from the surrounding and spread out her hands, the ground trembled as huge ice boulders emerged from beneath the ground on either side of the black cloaked man.

Queen Heveneth then stretched her hand down to the ground,

A cracking sound was heard as the ice broke, large cracks spreading through it all the way to where the black cloaked man stood but Queen Heveneth was left dumbfounded when he could no longer be seen.

"You know the thing about you fairies is...you rely on spells and magic so much that you are extremely lacking in physical strength and speed." Queen Heveneth heard from behind her and she made to turn sharply but found she could not move her limbs.

Queen Heveneth’s eyes widened slightly as she struggled to move her legs but they just would not move.

"You... what have you done to me?!" Queen Heveneth shrieked in rage.

"You were so focused on me, you forgot your dearest mate was also right here. Do you believe you are the only one who can play with magic?" The black cloaked man snarled.

"His grace summons me, I cannot linger. Take care of it, His Grace will await your news." The black cloaked man ordered as Queen Heveneth felt his presence disappear.

"It seems all that is left is you and I." The false Lord Dinani murmured as he trailed a hand over Queen Heveneth’s shoulder.

"Shameless! Get your repulsive claws off me!" Queen Heveneth raged.

"That’s hurtful, you didn’t mind me touching you a while back." The false Dinani teased.

"Do you really think you will get out of my domain alive?! My battle fairies will never let you off! Just wait till I get out of this spell!" Queen Heveneth roared.

The quiet woods was filled with laughter as the false Lord Dinani stepped into Queen Heveneth’s line of sight.

"Since you already know the truth, I won’t hide it from you. You wear my scale necklace and with a snap of my fingers, their venom will ooze out and cause temporary paralysis." The false Lord Dinani relayed.

Queen Heveneth’s gaze darkened as she recalled the necklace Dinani had gifted her merely a few days ago which she presently wore on her neck.

"How dare you cast a demonic spell on me?!" Queen Heveneth raged as she struggled to move her limbs against the spell binding them.

"Which is why you should not have followed me, what kind of woman trails her beloved? What? You don’t trust me? At least if you hadn’t, we would not have to get rid of you so quickly." The false Lord Dinani said with a wide grin.

An intense feeling of disgust crawled up Queen Heveneth’s spine at the mere thought of the horrendous monster that was hiding beneath Dinani’s appearance.

"You are not my Dinani you accursed creature!" Queen Heveneth roared furiously.

"Well your Dinani isn’t here anymore, is he? I am all you have left." The false Dinani replied, still grinning.

Queen Heveneth’s heart dropped, she had been overcome with rage upon figuring out she had been manipulated all this while, too furious to really consider what all of this actually meant for the real Dinani.

"You... what have you done to him?! What have you done?!" Queen Heveneth screamed in devastation as tears streaked down her cheeks,

The liquid freezing over the very moment they slipped out and dropping to the ground like tiny lumps of ice.

"Well what do you think?" The false Dinani asked.

Queen Heveneth shook her head in denial, she would never be willing to believe Dinani was dead.

Dinani was her mate, they were bonded in heart and mind and had been for centuries, if he was dead, Queen Heveneth was certain she would have felt it.

And so Queen Heveneth knew without a doubt that Dinani was alive somewhere, she could not dare believe otherwise.

"Do you really think you can kill me? Do you even know how to kill a fairy? A being of nature?" Queen Heveneth spat.

"Killing you was never my plan. Your magic is powerful, it would be such a waste if you died with it."

"But you will die, because a fairy cannot survive without magic." The false Dinani replied as he lifted a clawed hand to Queen Heveneth’s forehead.

His elongated claws pierced into Queen Heveneth’s forehead and pain unlike anything she had ever felt before tore through her skull.

Queen Heveneth felt as though her skull was being pulled out of her head and her scream of pain shook the quiet winter woods.

Queen Heveneth knew what was happening, she had lived long enough to know that at this very moment, the changeling demon was trying to absorb her magic and harvest it for it’s ownself.

"I shall tell you what shall happen as an act of gratitude for gifting me your magic."

"After you are dead, I will steal your face as well. I have watched you long enough to act out your part perfectly and with your magic in my hands, your Fairy Elders will never even notice it." The changeling demon began as Queen Heveneth screamed in pain.

"When they do not even know you are dead, how will they go after your killer? How will they ever figure out that all along, the true culprit has been right there amongst them?"

"I shall play as both the battle lord and the revered Floral Queen and order for the execution of the Crimson wolves and then I shall order the Floral Domain to war against the Sea Kingdom."

"A war unlike any other so both domains will be completely ruined at the end of it and then His Grace shall reap the benefits. The more deaths... the closer His Grace gets to his goal."

"And should His Grace fail to keep his promise to my tribe, your magic shall provide me the leverage I need." The changeling demon said in a dark, malicious tone.

"You will never get away with this! You will not get away with this!" Queen Heveneth shrieked through her pain.

"Look around you Fairy Queen, the time of the supremacy of beings of light is over. The darkness has come and the supernatural realm will fall... one domain at a time and it begins with yours." The changeling demon spat as it’s grip tightened, it’s claws digging in even deeper into Queen Heveneth’s head.

"The Floral Domain will not fall so easily and the Crimson Moon has returned, whatever your plot is...you will never succeed, mark my words!" Queen Heveneth swore as she felt her magic pulsing within her.

Queen Heveneth felt regretful of many things, even as searing pain tore through her head, she knew there were many things she should have done better,

She had failed her mate, she had failed her daughter, she had failed the Floral Domain and though Queen Heveneth knew there was no going back, no chances to right her wrongs,

Queen Heveneth hoped the other supernatural rulers would be more prepared than she had been to face a danger they never knew existed.

"Mark her words she said... you should have listened." A familiar voice reached Queen Heveneth’s hearing and hope flared within her.
