The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 114: Battling The Sea Monster ()
Nile’s gaze narrowed as he stared right into a pair of large, yellow eyes and he felt the merman stiffen in his arms as he also noticed their unexpected company.
A sea monster, there was actually one of those rare, vicious creatures lurking in this cave and with no knowledge, Nile had walked right into it’s territory.
If there was one thing about sea monsters, they were extremely territorial and blood thirsty, now that it had laid eyes on Nile, there was no escaping it.
For a moment, Nile had to wonder if their days beyond the barrier would continue to be so eventful.
"The Sea Kingdom is certainly full of surprises, I see." Nile asked as he passed the barely conscious merman a glance.
The merman shook his head slightly, his eyes wide with alarm and Nile understood the merman’s attempt to dissuade him.
Nile smiled slightly, his heart warming at the merman’s concern for him.
"I would ask what kind of sea monster this is, but you wouldn’t be able to tell me...it doesn’t matter though, it’s in my way." Nile murmured in an indifferent tone as the cave began trembling.
The merman’s hand shot up to grab Nile’s wrist and from his furrowed brows and the strain reflected on his face, Nile knew it had taken a lot of effort from the merman to move his limbs in his condition.
It was already approaching the final day, the effects of Zariah’s magic trace had receded, nothing could restrain the pain of the flame poison anymore.
From the scorching feeling of the merman’s skin and the heat exuded off of him, it was clear the flame poison was already ravaging through him and he only tried to hide his pain from Nile and put up a neutral expression,
Nile did not even want to imagine just what kind of pain the merman was enduring at this point, made worse by the fact that he could not even cry out since the flame poison had long rendered him unable to speak.
Nile’s heart ached terribly to see the merman in such a condition, yet even in his own state and the fact that he was the one who would die anytime soon, the merman still somehow afforded the luxury to worry for Nile.
The look in the merman’s eyes showed his fear, the sea monster was a deadly foe and he worried Nile would be unable to withstand it.
Nile could not understand why the merman just kept on proving Nile’s initial prejudice against him wrong.
Nile now admitted he had judged this merman wrongly, he was a Prince of the Sea indeed, but he was unlike the rest of his family... he was honorable and worthy of Nile’s respect. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Now, Nile felt guilty about ever considering leaving this merman to die out of his own personal anger,
The grip of the merman on Nile’s wrist tightened and Nile’s stomach did a strange flip within him.
’Why does he affect me so? What is this feeling?’ Nile wondered as he gazed at the merman he held in his arm.
Nile could not understand how every action of this merman had his heart racing and stirred that possessive and protective feeling within him.
But if there was one thing Nile knew for sure, it was the fact that he had to save this merman...he had to save him without fail and at any costs.
Firstly because Zariah had bid him to, and then because the merman was worthy of saving...he was worthy of everything, but most importantly because Nile could not bear to watch him die...not anymore.
If Nile could not save everyone, then he could at least save this one person.
And if he was unable to save even the one before his eyes, how could he call himself the spirit guide?
Nile’s hand scrunched into tight fists around the Tide Trident as Nile felt the waters begin to spin and violent ripples shook the previously still waters, alerting Nile to the movement of the Sea monster.
"Sit a while, would you? I’ll come to you soon." Nile promised the merman in a tender tone.
As difficult as it was for him, Nile tore his gaze away from the merman and let go of the him, watching as the sea pod encasing them both, split,
A part of it guiding the merman safely to seat, leaned up against the wall of the cavern, Nile also sent the Tide Trident to rest beside the merman so he could focus on the battle.
Nile reverted his gaze back to the monster as it surged forwards slowly, it’s movement causing the water to grow increasingly turbulent.
Nile regarded the monster with an indifferent gaze, it was unlike anything Nile had ever seen or heard of,
It seemed to be some sort of killer whale, with a massive size and multiple rows of large sets of teeth, each visibly sharper than blades.
There were tentacles extending from it’s back, numbering to about six, serving as it’s fins with which it stirred through the water and the tentacles undulated as it moved, black slime oozing out of it.
It’s tentacles had spikes lined all over it and the closer the monster approached, the larger the spikes appeared to Nile’s eyes.
Nile stretched a hand out, his staff materializing in his grasp.
The staff had a wide width, just enough so Nile could still wrap his hand around it, it was 10ft in length and it’s surface was rough, with metal like vines and runes twirled around it.
It was crafted from pure Zenite, a rare metal that was deadly to every other creature other than the Crimson Wolves, and it was adorned with the Creator’s runes.
Out of the Crimson Wolves, Nile was the only one who did not wield a sword, he had always been opposed to bladed weapons as he simply was not suited to bloodshed.
However Nile’s staff was much more lethal than a sword could ever be and this staff was only ever revealed when Nile intended to kill.
Although Nile detested bloodshed, when it came down to it and if it was the only choice, Nile was not unwilling... the sea monster before his eyes could not be reasoned with and so it had to be killed.
As the monster surged forwards with great speed, Nile lunged, his lithe form hurtling through the turbulent waves as he thrust his spear forward, twisting his wrist so the head of the spear slammed powerfully into the large monster.
The sea monster swung out two of it’s tentacles to protect himself and Nile shot out a magic attack, slashing right through one of the tentacles whilst he spun out of the way to avoid the other.
Black slime oozed out of the severed tentacle and Nile was glad the sea pod encasing him could keep the slime out, just in case it was poisonous.
The Sea monster’s yellow orbs reflected it’s rage as it’s wide jaws opened up, puffing out air that sent the water spinning around rapidly.
Nile was tossed back by the force of the water, his body soaring backwards and Nile shot a his magic to the bed of the sea cave, the rebound shooting him back up and steadying him.
Nile growled low, his wolf rising to the surface, his dominance challenged by the sea monster as the sea monster’s tentacles shot at him again.
In the blink of an eye, Nile lunged again, fiercely spinning his staff, he slashed through the tentacles in his way, the rough vine like metals swirled round his staff cutting through the tentacles like butter.
As Nile slashed, the tentacles just kept coming and Nile realized with distaste that the Sea monster was regenerating the severed tentacles after a short moment.
Nile knew he needed to get past the tentacles to actually deal severe damage to the Sea monster but the more he slashed, the more tentacles surged for him.
Nile growled, his eyes glowing as he summoned his magic and the runes around his staff glowed a bright silvery glow.
Nile thrust his staff out and the metal vines shot out of it, splitting into multiple metal vines with glinting sharp points.
The Sea monster opened it’s jaws to puff out another bout of air that would send the water spinning but Nile was not having it.
Nile lifted his left hand and cast a sealing spell, a glowing rune forming on his palm before he shot the ruin at the sea monster, the rune spread out into a thin glowing net over the sea monster’s jaws and pulled it shut.
The metal vines pierced into the various tentacles of the sea monster and winded round it and with a slight pull of his staff, the sea monster’s tentacles were torn from it’s body, black slime oozing out everywhere.
An opening had been created to reach the monsters main body but with the Sea monster’s fast regenerative abilities...if Nile could seize this opening or not would depend on his speed.
