Ten Thousand Soul Banner: Deceased, do you have any unfulfilled wishes?-Chapter 970 - 966: Leaving the Village
"Is Potato and the others sneaking some good food in there?" Dou Dou squatted inside the space capsule, resting her chin on her hands.
Chased anxiously by Duoduo, she wanted to hide inside the capsule and have Potato plead for leniency.
But she bumped into the barrier above, barring her from entry.
As a result, she got caught by Duoduo and spanked several times.
However, she was already used to it and didn’t mind; instead, she was curious about why she couldn’t enter the space capsule.
Xiao Yue rolled her eyes at her, didn’t answer the question, but instead turned into a gust of Yin Wind and sat on the roof of the RV.
After all, she was older, and with society being so advanced, she already had a clear understanding of matters between men and women.
"So even Sister Xiao Yue doesn’t know everything."
Seeing Xiao Yue not answering her and instead flying away, Dou Dou immediately muttered loudly.
Unfortunately, this trick didn’t work, and Xiao Yue still ignored her.
Dou Dou then looked toward Duoduo, and under her expectant gaze, Dou Dou shook her head and sighed deeply.
Duoduo’s cheeks instantly turned a bit red.
"What do you mean by shaking and sighing?"
"Because I know it’s useless to ask you; you definitely don’t know either."
"Who... who said that, I know." Duoduo argued.
"Then what are Potato and the others doing inside, and why won’t they let us in?" Dou Dou pointed to the space capsule, her face full of curiosity.
"I know, but I don’t want to tell you, heh..." Duoduo said proudly.
Seeing Duoduo’s genuine expression, Dou Dou widened her eyes in surprise.
"Do you really know?"
"Of course."
"Then can you tell me, please?"
"Nope."
"Sister Duoduo, hehe, you’re the best, the prettiest, the cutest, you love me the most..."
"I don’t love you; you made me mad just now."
"But you already spanked my bottom, so we’re even now."
"Not at all; I’m still angry," Duoduo said.
"Then spank me a few more times." Dou Dou bent down, sticking out her little bottom to Duoduo.
Duoduo: ...
Finding her looking as if she would fart any moment, Duoduo quickly backed away.
-----------------
At dawn, Stone Grinding Village was shrouded in morning mist, the rooftops of the adobe houses were covered in a faint white frost, dewdrops dripped from the branches and leaves of the old locust tree, and the air was fresh with the moist scent of plants.
Shen Siyuan and his group packed their things, while Ruan Hongzhuang and Taozi moved a lot of supplies from the RV and the space capsule.
Biscuits, instant noodles, compressed biscuits, several bags of rice and flour, and even a few bottles of vitamin tablets.
"Let’s leave these things for the villagers; their food is too monotonous."
Ruan Hongzhuang said softly as she piled the supplies at the village entrance.
Although Stone Grinding Village was self-sufficient, their grain and nutrition were ultimately limited, and these modern foods might give their lives a bit of a boost.
Shen Siyuan nodded, turning to look at Xiao Yue and the others running over.
Dou Dou was still clutching a wild fruit given to her by the villagers yesterday, too reluctant to eat it.
"Say goodbye to the villagers; it’s time for us to leave."
Li Laosan and several villagers had rushed over at the news, their faces full of gratitude and a bit of embarrassment upon seeing the supplies piled at the village entrance.
"You’re too kind; we mountain folks aren’t short of food. You should keep these for your journey."
"We have resupplies on the road; these things are nothing to us," Shen Siyuan said with a smile.
"You take them, let the kids have a taste or keep them for emergencies."
The villagers couldn’t refuse and accepted them; Li Laosan rubbed his hands together, saying.
"If you ever pass by here again, be sure to come to the village. We’ll cook corn porridge for you and pick the freshest wild fruits."
"Absolutely," Shen Siyuan promised with a cupped hand gesture.
"Thank you for your hospitality. We’ll trouble you again when we have the chance."
After bidding farewell to the villagers, everyone returned to the RV, and Ruan Hongzhuang sat firmly in the driver’s seat, ready to go.
"All set, how do we get out now?"
"Just a moment," Shen Siyuan replied.
Then his mind sank into the Sea of Consciousness, communicating with the altar above it. There seemed to be an immediate response from the altar halfway up the mountain in Stone Grinding Village as an invisible force spread out from the central Totem Pole.
The world seemed like a faded ink painting. In an instant, the surrounding scenery changed dramatically, causing a strong visual impact.
The mist-shrouded Stone Grinding Village disappeared, replaced by the familiar interior of Qinling Tunnel No. 1.
The tunnel was still dim, only the afterimages of the headlights remaining, and the air was dry and dull, starkly different from the fresh village air.
"We’re back!" Taozi exclaimed excitedly, her voice filled with the joy of survival.
"Watch out!"
Shen Siyuan’s expression suddenly changed, and the Ten Thousand Soul Banner instantly enveloped the entire vehicle.
Immediately, a piercing horn and the sound of tires squealing on pavement came from behind. A large truck was speeding from behind, clearly not expecting a vehicle to suddenly appear in the tunnel. The driver, startled, violently turned the wheel, causing the truck to scrape past the RV, conjuring a gust of wind that kicked up dust from the ground.
Everyone in the vehicle breathed a sigh of relief, especially Ruan Hongzhuang in the driver’s seat, feeling a chill in her limbs.
"Alright, it’s over," Shen Siyuan patted her shoulder reassuringly.
Ruan Hongzhuang finally regained her breath.
"That scared me to death!"
Taozi patted her chest, still feeling the fright.
Thankfully, the rear truck driver reacted quickly, or the consequences would have been unimaginable.
Shen Siyuan frowned, looking toward the departing truck. The tunnel’s surveillance should have caught the scene of their sudden appearance, but he couldn’t worry about that now.
Ruan Hongzhuang immediately restarted the vehicle, driving out of the tunnel.
As the vehicle exited the tunnel, sunlight streamed through the windows, warming everyone and instantly putting them at ease.
Outside the tunnel was the familiar highway, the flow of vehicles constant, and the distant Qinling Mountain Range stretched endlessly, completely different from the village forest yet equally majestic.
"Finally back to the real world!"
Ruan Hongzhuang exhaled deeply, a relaxed smile appearing on her face. It had been incredibly dangerous just now.
The RV slowly moved forward, heading towards Han Zhong.
The RV cruised steadily on the highway, the distant Qinling Mountain Range slowly receding, and sunlight filled the vehicle, warm and bright.
Ruan Hongzhuang turned on the music, and a gentle melody flowed through the car. Tang Tang and Xiao Ya hummed along softly, while Dou Dou and Duoduo played with stones on the side, the atmosphere warm and pleasant.
Shen Siyuan leaned back in his seat, closing his eyes, as the altar in the Sea of Consciousness of Stone Grinding Village slowly rotated, echoing with some place in the void, the space where Stone Grinding Village was located.
The RV continued heading south towards Han Zhong, the wheels leaving a long trail over the road.
"Oh~"
Tang Tang leaned against the car window, shouting and waving her small hand as if greeting someone.
Sitting next to her, Xiao Ya felt curious and leaned over to see, but saw no one besides the endless mountains.
"Who are you waving to?" Xiao Ya asked curiously.
"Han~"
Tang Tang gave a silly smile.
In her view, a bird engulfed in flames was circling outside their car window.
This bird had exited the space with them from Stone Grinding Village, but except for Tang Tang, no one noticed its presence.
If Dou Dou could see it, she might have recognized it as resembling the strange bird pattern she had seen before on the Totem Pole.
