Ten Thousand Soul Banner: Deceased, do you have any unfulfilled wishes?-Chapter 937 - 933: Mischievous Tang
Tang Tang was awakened by the slight sway of the motorhome.
Last night, she followed Dou Dou to chase fireflies in the wheat field, and rolled and frolicked in the space capsule, so exhausted that she fell asleep as soon as she hit the bed. She slept particularly deeply, even her dreams were filled with the aroma of the wheat field and the images of her little friends running.
She opened her eyes groggily, her fingertips unconsciously grazing the soft mattress below her, until the sunlight filtered through the gaps in the motorhome’s curtains, casting a warm spot on the back of her hand, finally dragging her completely out of slumber.
As a mute and deaf person, she can’t hear the birds chirping outside the window, nor the sound of wind blowing through the wheat leaves, yet she can sense temperature changes through touch and capture the movement of light through sight.
Tang Tang rubbed her sleepy eyes, her little head nuzzling against the pillow, glancing around.
She was alone on the motorhome bunk, her mother Mao Sanmei’s spot was empty, the neatly folded quilt still held warmth, clearly having been vacated not long ago.
She was slightly stunned, her gaze gradually clearing.
Fingertips grazed the small embroidered flowers on the bedsheet; memories slowly returned.
The sunlight grew brighter, weaving delicate nets of light through the curtain gaps onto the floor, the air in the compartment gradually becoming stuffy, even breathing carried a hint of warmth, all reminding her that this was not the familiar home but a temporary nest on the journey.
"Oh~" 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
She propped herself up on the mattress, stretching lazily.
The thin blanket slid off her, revealing her round little belly and bare shoulders.
At this moment, there’s a faint "click" from the motorhome door.
Though she couldn’t hear it, the subtle touch of weak vibrations transmitted through the bed frame to Tang Tang’s hand.
She looked toward the door and saw Mao Sanmei walking in with her head down, as she expected.
Tang Tang stayed silent, bare-shouldered, quietly watching her mom walk to the fridge.
Mao Sanmei opened the fridge door, bending down to rummage for something inside.
Seeing her mother’s focused demeanor, Tang Tang quietly lifted the blanket, her bare feet stepping onto the motorhome floor, which had been warmed by the sun. The sensation transmitted from the feet, making her curl her toes involuntarily from comfort.
She tiptoed like a cautious little cat, quietly inching toward Mao Sanmei, her little legs moving lightly and quickly, fearful of being discovered by her mom.
But just as she reached the fridge, a blast of cold air suddenly drifted out, mixed with the cool scent of chilled ingredients, enveloping Tang Tang’s bare body.
Unable to help herself, she shivered, then sneezed twice in quick succession, her little nose instantly reddening, subconsciously rubbing it with her hand.
Mao Sanmei couldn’t hear the sneezes, naturally she didn’t notice Tang Tang.
Only when she closed the fridge door did her peripheral vision catch sight of Tang Tang standing beside her, rubbing her nose.
"Ah~"
Mao Sanmei first lowly exclaimed in surprise, then her eyebrows furrowed.
She lowered her gaze to Tang Tang’s bare shoulders, the early spring morning was already chilly, the fridge’s cold air exacerbating it. Her daughter exposed like this would certainly catch a cold!
Mao Sanmei reached out intending to pull Tang Tang over to dress her at the bunk.
Just then, a small head peeked in the motorhome door; it was Dou Dou.
His eyes sparkled as he peered into the compartment, grinning widely upon spotting Tang Tang, waving to her.
Tang Tang’s eyes lit up upon seeing Dou Dou, forgetting all about getting dressed.
She leaned her body as if a nimble little eel, easily dodging Mao Sanmei’s reaching hand, then maneuvering with a "snake-like move," skirted past her mom’s attempt to block her, bare-shouldered dashed toward the door, letting out an excited "han~" as she went.
"Ah~"
Mao Sanmei anxiously chased a couple of steps forward, reaching out intended to grab but only catching a handful of air.
She watched Tang Tang’s bare back vanish at the doorway, her eyes filled with panic. The morning wind, carrying the wheat field’s chill, rushing out like this would certainly make her freeze!
Dou Dou, seeing Tang Tang heading toward him, immediately retracted his head, stepping back two paces to clear her way.
Tang Tang dashed out like the wind from the motorhome, poised to triumphantly pose and foolishly grin, boasting her "successful escape", yet the next moment, the early spring breeze with its chill blew directly onto her bare body.
The coldness carried the wilderness’s crisp chill, instantly making Tang Tang’s hair stand on end.
Goosebumps emerged densely on her arms and back, her small body shivered uncontrollably; even her lips paled slightly.
The mischievousness quickly vanished without a trace, she turned like a monkey whose tail got burnt, bolting back toward the motorhome door wanting to quickly retreat into the warm compartment.
However, there were three small steps at the motorhome door, she had jumped down swiftly relying on momentum earlier, now frantically scrambling upward, her little legs lacked the strength.
Tang Tang gripped the edge of the step with her hands, her little bottom sticking up as she struggled to climb, her face flushed red, yet she couldn’t ascend, only shiveringly enduring the cold.
Dou Dou, standing by, laughed uproariously, hands on his hips, shaking with laughter.
Luckily, Mao Sanmei chased out by now, she sighed in concern, reaching out swiftly pulling Tang Tang into her arms, enveloping her bare body tightly with her coat exuding warmth, then turning to walk back into the motorhome.
The little one in her embrace continued lightly shivering, nuzzling her little head against Mao Sanmei’s chest, her nose brushing her collar, evidently chilled.
Returning to the compartment, Mao Sanmei placed Tang Tang on the bed, covering her with the quilt to warm her up a bit.
Mao Sanmei felt somewhat annoyed, why couldn’t this little one learn her lesson, this wasn’t the first time.
She raised her hand, thinking to lightly slap Tang Tang’s bottom a couple of times to teach her a lesson.
But as she lifted her hand, she saw Tang Tang tilt her little face, grinning foolishly at her, Mao Sanmei’s heart instantly softened, her raised hand slowly lowering, her anger completely dissipated.
She reached out, gently stroking her daughter’s slightly chilled cheek, helplessly releasing a long "um~", the extended sigh full of indulgence.
Unable to speak, unsure of how to reason with Tang Tang, leaving her feeling a deep sense of frustration.
Yet she soon thought of Shen Siyuan, deciding to discuss with Mr. Shen later, seeking his help in educating Tang Tang.
After all, Mr. Shen was a truly extraordinary person, when he spoke, even she and Tang Tang, the two deaf ones, could hear him.
What she didn’t know was, Shen Siyuan’s "extraordinary" abilities went far beyond this.
Typically, having never heard human language, one shouldn’t comprehend any speech, but Shen Siyuan’s voice acted directly on her consciousness, bypassing auditory processes, transmitting information directly, even enabling her to "understand" unfamiliar vocabulary.
This ability was more incredible than simply "being able to hear".
Tang Tang wore a warm little coat, sitting on the bed, observing her mom busily fussing over her, hugging Mao Sanmei’s arm, resting her little head on her shoulder, letting out another "han~", pointing out the window at the sunlight, as if saying "the sun outside is so bright."
Mao Sanmei smiled, patting her head, the feeling of loss gradually replaced by warmth.
No matter what, she’d protect her daughter well, with Mr. Shen’s help, Tang Tang would surely slowly become sensible.
The sunlight outside grew brighter and brighter, filtering through the curtain gaps, casting a warm glow inside the compartment.
Tang Tang lay by the window, watching the dew in the distant wheat field reflect light, her mouth curling into another foolish grin, the little freeze she suffered earlier already forgotten.
