Tang San smiled. "My goal was always to take Hell Road. I appreciate your kindness, Slaughter King, but please open the entrance. I will go with Hell Emissary amd Blood Pagoda."

His gaze wandered to Ning Feng. "I-I share a-a goal with t-them, " she said and then nodded as Slaughter King raised an eyebrow. "Are you certain, even with them helping you, you are by far the weakest to ever reach this point and a support spirit master by nature, should any of them betray you, you are more certain to die than them." Ning Feng turned to first Tang San and then to Hu Liena, who could not quite control her expression fialing to conceal her surprise at hearing Ning Feng's designation.

She had not known, but always suspected Ning Feng to be a control or maybe even a combat spirit master, mainly due to her physique and the way she fought so unflinchingly. The Slaughter Kings' expression changed. "Have all three of you forgotten where you come from, deciding to join and walk Hell Road together.

Hu Liena smiled coldly. "In this world, there are no eternal enemies, only eternal benefits. What worth does it have for us three to die due to allegiance here? Why not try together? We are very much aware that none of us three will make it alone. Together, Mighty Slaughter King, we stand a chance, so please act according to the City rules."

Halo after Halo of crimson light released from the King. If not for their background, he would have long ruined the three people in front of him. Still even with Tang Sans and Hu Lienas' strength, even if Ning Feng supported them, the three were only ants in front of him and he was almost certain they would fail.

"Since you have made a choice, I will not stop you. If you manage to pass Hell Road, you will achieve great rewards, giving birth to a new generation of Death Gods. Pass along my regards to your elders. But know it will not be easy to pass, it may cost you all of your lives and only end with your bones fertilising the road's edges."

Red smoke rose from around the King, a tremendous Aura forcing the three of them to retreat to remain steady on their feet. The aura the King released was not killing but something much more vicious and colder, something so chilling it froze over one's very own soul if one was not careful. In the blink of an eye, the entire arena was covered in crimson mist.

Now Tang San knew why no one besides the Death Gods and the Slaughter King had seen Hell Road before, because whoever saw it died, their blood, flesh and bones becoming nourishment for the road, an offering.

The cheering onlookers ran, their fear parfuming the air as they gradually grew lifeless, sank together, leaving only their clothes behind as their bodies fell apart to ash, becoming dull. Then the red light formed a barrier swirling around them, covering the entire arena. Shrieks rising from it, wails from the souls of those who had died, and were still dying, clawing out their eyes, mutilating their own skin as they descended into utter madness, decayed at speed visible ot the naked eye.

The change spread more and more, and even though all of them had experienced Massacres and Madness in the streets of Slaughter City, the terrifying scene turned their stomachs; the sight made them sick. Next to Tang San, Ning Feng bowed over and Gagged, as she vomited at the sight, emptying whatever was in her stomach.

Her disgust even surpassed the murderous spirit that grew inside the three of them and grew increasingly difficult to suppress.

The violence made Tang San turn colder and colder as he held on to Ning Feng, keeping her standing, alongside Hu Liena, whose hand stroked out the short hair from her face.

As long as someone was human, had even a shred of humanity inside them, watching this scene, how could they not hate the one responsible?

How could they watch as if it were nothing?

Blood was spilt and then started flowing like a river towards the arena, pooling on the ground, seeping through the stone cracks with strands of power as the Slaughter King said. "To be able to become the offering to open Hell Road is their honour."

"Where i-is the honour i-in t-that." Ning Feng muttered as her eyes flashed red and she emptied her stomach again, the scent of blood so thick it drowned out everything else. And Tang San struggled more and more against the increasing killing intent.

There was no one but the four present still alive. After an unconfining time, lines of grooves full of blood appeared, forming a pattern on the ground that pulsed like a living thing in red. None of them could fully grasp the design, but it rose even more horror inside Tang San.

"I wish you good luck on Hell Road." The Slaughter King said his voice was a shrap and deep rumble.

Swallowed by the red light, they felt the ground beneath their feet vanish, their consciousness sealed, and their killing intent condensed around them like a faint white layer as if to protect them. If not for that intent, they would have been dead and swallowed up.

Spirit power releasing despite their layer of killing intent, Tang San was additionally covered in a secondary layer of faint, hazy blue. Compared to the red, the blue was not intense, but it was filled with life. Tenacious and Vital, it firmly protected Tang San, not only keeping him safe from the red but also from the killing intent.

For a moment, he was released from the enormous pressure and felt more comfortable when a hard jolt went through his body, all sensation returning, and the crimson light around them fading.

They sobered up and looked around. They were on top of a round platform. It was not very large, maybe five square metres when being generous. They rose from their awkward positions, looking straight into each other's eyes. Hu Lienas' body was releasing a faint red mist, her eyes scarlet, and white ripples were growing constantly stronger around her as she was almost spasming in pain, trying to somehow endure. Ning Feng was kneeling, her breathing harsh bursts as she trembled, covered in cold sweat, her eyes flashing between their usual amber and red, the white faint aura around her flickering like a brittle candle as she looked at them with streaks of tears running down her cheeks. But there was close to no consciousness inside them.

"Hu Liena, Feng, wake up." Tang San said softly, as if to raise their attention. He pressed his right hand on Hu Lienas head and grabbed Ning Fengs neck, none of them resisted and then transmitted the faint blue breath of life, the faint blue meshing into their energies until their bodies shuddered and returned to normal, the red in their eyes fading until they were back to their original colour.

Knowing that Hell Road laid as an unkown danger in front of them they needed to work together, if one of them did not make it now their chances would sink and their survival would be even more at risk then before, or at least that was what Tang San told himself when he helped Hu Liena on her feet and then nodded at Ning Feng who was already standing there as if nothing had happened, only her pants giving away she was struggling.

"Thanks." Hu Liena said, her voice hoarse.

"We are in the same boat on this." He replied.

"T-This is g-going to b-be bad." Ning Feng said, and as they all looked around, they could not help but draw cold breaths. Bad was not covering the sight in front of them, and everything here was covered in faint blood, and the bottomless abyss beneath them was...well, bad.
