Taming the Hybrid Mate: Desired by Five Alphas-Chapter 222: Before the school council
Andria’s POV
The door was shut behind us as soon as we got inside.
"I don’t like detention," Becca muttered under her breath.
"It’s been fun so far. I enjoyed the look on Liara’s face when I called her fake royalty," Allison said, chuckling a bit.
"But she isn’t fake royalty, you are just a loudmouth, Allison," I said amidst laughter.
"I get it, she was your friend before now, and you can defend her all you want, but that doesn’t stop the fact that she lacks the discipline a princess should have.
She is like gold-plated in comparison to real gold. Chasing rogues, outcasts at the slightest command by Jackson," Allison said, rolling her eyes.
"You are just jealous. A while ago, before Jackson left you for her, you were also his puppet. And you misjudged my friends and me; let’s not forget that. Liara stood behind me all that time. So sometimes I tend to understand her pain," I said, squinting my eyes at her.
Allison twisted her mouth, playing with her fingernails for a while, guilt overwhelming her face.
"I indeed loved Jackson, but it was because I thought he was the victim. Everyone I thought was the victim wasn’t the victim after all," Allison defended.
"Understandable. That’s why you shouldn’t be so quick to attack her," I said.
"You should stop making excuses for Liara, Ari. The past is already the past. She was good in the past, but she was quick to forget about that version of herself.
I mean, didn’t you hear her say that you were overshadowing her, and she needed breathing space from you?. Personally, I have never liked Liara since her first day in this Academy.
But she started showing acceptable attitudes and interests, and I started enjoying her company, thinking I might have misjudged her," Becca complained with furrowed eyebrows.
"We had a word banter on her first day," I added.
"And the way she wanted a reading section with you, ignoring the fact you were with friends, or the way she brought Michaela to my sick bed without even knowing if I were comfortable.
I tolerated her all this time. But this character she is portraying now shows that she was never our friend. Imagine becoming friends with Tracy’s sister. Isn’t that absurd?"Becca added.
Allison nodded her head, an intense look on her face, as she studied Becca. She looked as if she felt Becca’s pain even more than Becca herself.
"I thought as much. I knew that you were angry the day she brought Michaela to your room at the school’s hospital. But since you never said a word, I would be sounding like a bitter soul if I did it for you," I said, rolling my eyes. " You should learn to speak up."
"I would learn to do that. But at that time, she was considered a friend, so if she came with a friend, there wouldn’t be any problem. So I swallowed my discomfort," Becca said, hissing out loudly.
"At that time, I was friends with no one at school. But I watched everything that happened from a silent corner.
I knew Tracy as a popular princess wannabe, not like a bully. She loved to pick on wolves she felt superior to, so maybe that’s what made her a bully.
But anytime she pulled those stunts, I found it rather playful and fun because she never actually hurt anyone. Maybe intimidated some, but never hurt anyone until you, Aria.
You acted too seriously, biting her back every time, which killed the fun and increased the fun at the same time. I was indifferent to your and Tracy’s altercation until Tracy was expelled, with some charges filed against her.
I felt it was a stunt you pulled to win the post you were already losing. I hated that you had my twin brother’s attention. I hated that you acted like a saint, becoming the most talked-about student in the Academy.
You were not only smart, but you had style too, and all these things made me see you as the bad one, even before Alexa and Tricia came to ask me to join them.
But it was all a misjudgement that I regret," Allison narrated.
"Awwn. You want to make me cry," I said, squeezing my face exaggeratedly in a sad way as if I was about to burst out crying.
"Stop it, Ari. Be serious. She just narrated the truth, and you just turned it into a joke," Becca shunned me.
"Oh, please, Becca, allow me a moment of laughter and relief," I replied to her.
"We are in prison, we can’t laugh," Becca interrupted.
"No, Becca, we are in detention. Prison feels different," Allison corrected.
"Prison...detention, what’s the difference? We aren’t given our freedom, so I can’t see any difference," Becca argued.
Allison opened her mouth to say something, knowing what this little banter could turn into, so I decided to interrupt.
"It’s ok, there’s nothing to argue about here. We are suspended from further association with fellow students, but we move around the school freely.
So yes, we are pretty much in trouble, and we should be thinking of ways to get out of it, and not stirring more chaos."
"I got you, Ari, but this is not a prison," Allison insisted.
"Your problem then," I answered her, and Becca burst out laughing.
Allison frowned for a while, and Becca kept laughing. "Your face is like that of Liara when Sir Kaelric said he would revisit our case," Becca said.
Allison suddenly burst out laughing, recollecting the look on Liara’s face.
Our laughter echoed in the room so that it felt like it could be heard outside the room. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"Hey, hush. They may think we are enjoying detention," I said.
"They can’t think that. Come on, I’m so bored. I need to breathe in fresh air outside this weird-looking room," Allison complained.
"Well, Sir Kaelric promised to look into our case. Hopefully we are released," Becca consoled.
"What if he gives us another punishment instead?" Allison asked.
"I doubt he will give us another punishment after spending time in detention," I said.
"Aria’s mate has spoken," Becca teased.
I rolled my eyes at her, clicking my tongue.
"I feel like playing a game, maybe from where we stopped that night, just the three of us," Allison suggested.
"I’m done with games not organized by the school. I already got into trouble for hosting one," Becca refused.
Allison looked to me for a positive response. I shook my head disapprovingly, and she hung her head low.
"Get me out of this cell," Allison screamed and Becca burst out laughing.
"So finally, you accept that this is a prison," Becca said.
"Whatever...Becca, whatever," Allison replied slightly agitated.
There was a rustling noise at the door suddenly.
"Hold up, Becca. I think someone is at the door," I said with an alarmed tone
"I heard that too," Allison added.
Becca stopped laughing and looked towards the door.
I held my heart on my hands and the door handle turned, and the door opened, revealing a security guard.
"What is it, again?" Becca grumbled.
"Three of you have to follow me now," he announced.
"To where?" Allison asked confused. "How are we to trust our safety in your hands, because we re in detention. Why are we to follow you."
Allison bombarded the security guard with questions, her brows furrowed aggressively at him.
The security guard looked slightly offended, but quickly hid the expression immediately. "The three of you are needed in the school council chamber."
He turned and walked through the door, and we followed behind him.
"Not this again," Becca mumbled as we walked pass the other detention room where Liara and Felicia were detained.
We got to the council room, and the security guard turned and left.
We pushed the door open and walked in. Sir Kaelric sat there, together with the headmistress and some other invited council members.
"Greetings, council members," We greeted as soon as we came inside.
"Come closer," the headmistress beckoned.
We walked towards the center of the room, my heart beating very fast.
"You are the students who threw that party where Alexa was beaten up?" One of the council members asked.
"It was a game night ma," Becca said.
"You didn’t answer my question," the luna retorted calmly.
"Yes, the two of us. Although we were three," Becca answered.
"Isn’t she the third student?" she asked, pointing at Allison.
"No, the third student isn’t here. Her name wasn’t mentioned amongst the offenders. Her name is Mel and she was the idea behind the game night," Becca replied.
She turned to me. "Is that true?"
"Yes, that’s true. Mel organized the game night, Becca was the game master, and I helped with things," I answered.
She turned to the headmistress immediately. "Why isn’t the third student punished?"
The headmistress wore a confused expression. "Mel wasn’t reported to be part of the organizers."
"How many sources did you get the report from?" The Luna asked.
"Just one source. But it seemed reliable, because it was anonymous," the headmistress replied.
"It’s not reliable. How many of you live in that apartment?"
"The three of us. I, Becca and Mel," I replied.
"Who sent out the invitations?"
"Mel sent the invitations. We only sent to those she couldn’t access," I replied.
"I see. That’s easy to find out then. The real orchestrator of everything that had happened isn’t here," the Luna said.
"It isn’t as easy as you think," Sir Kaelric who had been silent for a while now, spoke up.
