Talent Awakening! Every Legendary Summon Grants Me Assassin Attributes-Chapter 55: Into the Dark Castle 3 Becoming carnivore
The two Wretched Fiends stood unmoving while spinning their chained axes in their grasp for a few seconds. Up until one of them suddenly stopped, letting the axe sway in an unstable arc before going completely still.
Then it dropped the chains, letting its weapon fall toward the ground with a loud, resounding thud that echoed through the battlefield.
It lingered for a moment.
And then, its hands were raised high before digging into its own armour, one rough, violent jerk after the other, peeling away every armour plate it had on its upper body.
Clang!
Clang!
The resounding noise from each heavy piece crashing against the ground filled the air, ringing out sharply and repeatedly.
And while this went on, Oliver was forced to watch. Not necessarily because he wanted to, but because he knew the attack pattern of these horrid beasts.
First, they all possessed the same attack pattern, only swinging their axes in unpredictable manners to kill their opponents. But when the first died, leaving just two behind, the next stage of these abominations began.
And this was it. While the second Giant Knight peeled open its armour, if any attack came its way, the other knight would strike at a speed three times faster than it originally did.
At Oliver’s condition, he would be hacked into two before he could even enter attack range.
So it was best to watch and wait for the perfect time to attack.
Just as he remembered.
Soon enough, all of the monstrosity’s upper body armour was gone, leaving behind a fat, hideous image of a giant human body. Its skin looked wet and burnt in places, stretched and uneven, while its face beneath the helmet was twisted into something grotesquely unnatural. And its red eyes oozed with immense bloodlust.
Oliver stiffened, "Here it comes."
He formed his battle stance once again, and the same went for the Dark Crow. Despite still being injured, it persevered, with only half its shadowy body remaining, preparing for the next attack.
Then, it came.
Wham!
The grotesque knight charged forward at Oliver, the ground trembling faintly beneath its weight, its bare hands stretched out to catch him in a deathly bear hug.
This was its next attack pattern—close-range charges.
"[Short burst]"
Oliver lunged out of the way, barely evading the monster’s devastating charge, as his body shuddered from every movement, his earlier wounds growing more unbearable with each second.
Still, Oliver was not out of the situation just yet.
As soon as he evaded, a loud whooshing noise tore through the air as the giant axe of the second horrid knight cleaved toward him, threatening to split him clean in two.
He grunted, raising his daggers between himself and the incoming strike.
The collision was devastating, carrying so much force that it flung Oliver into the air, sparks of golden light bursting outward everywhere as both his daggers were knocked out of his grasp.
He crashed to the ground on his side.
"Arggggh! Damn..." he groaned, pain engulfing his entire body.
Next, he heard massive footsteps edging extremely close to him once again.
There was no time to rest. No time to catch his breath.
So Oliver forced himself up to his—
Slam!
"[Short burst]"
He blitzed out of the way with a shoulder roll as quickly as he could, adrenaline pumping into his system endlessly, as he evaded the colossal fist that plummeted down on the position he had just occupied.
He had escaped this one too close for comfort.
Still, he hurried to get to his feet, knowing the other Giant Knight would soon be upon him, its axe at the ready to cleave through his being.
He rose up to his feet, and...
His life flashed before his eyes.
Just for a brief moment, Oliver’s entire being shuddered in an emotion he did not understand.
The axe head had gotten to just a mere centimeter from his face, ready to hack him brutally into two and end the battle.
However, the Dark Crow dove in once again and saved its master, headbutting the blunt of the axe head with all of its force. So hard that Oliver thought... no, he was sure the skull of the shadowy bird had split in two, if it even had one.
Still, it had saved him.
Causing the axe to shatter into shards of rusted metal, some flying off aimlessly into the air as debris, and others embedding themselves into Oliver’s body as they exploded outward from the destroyed weapon.
"ARRRRRGGGH!" He screamed through gritted teeth, letting a muffled groan escape his lips.
The brief moment of pain quickly turned into something far worse on Oliver’s face. The situation he had been in earlier—the immense pain, the countless injuries, the endurance of it all under battle... all of that would now be considered bliss compared to what he was about to experience.
The rampaging Giant Knight had finally caught him in his moment of agony.
Its massive, abhorrent arms wrapped around Oliver’s body, almost large enough to cover his entire chest down to his waist, as the hideous monster pulled him into a crushing bear hug.
Another unstable shriek escaped Oliver’s lips, as unbearable pain coursed through his entire being. His hands shattered within seconds, and his ribs shuddered violently under the immense pressure of the abomination.
Oliver cried out. He thrashed. He fought back desperately to break free of the monstrosity’s hold.
But nothing worked.
He turned his head over to the Crow, now occupied as it fought the other Giant Knight.
He gritted his teeth, then opened his mouth to call out to the Crow. However, the moment he did, the entire air in his lungs was violently forced out.
His face went pale. His eyes turned red as ribs after ribs began to crack.
He was in a tight position.
And he was going to die any moment from now.
’What to do... damn it... think...’
He screamed to himself from within—or at least, he thought he did. The mind of a dying man was a fog of emotions mixed with desperation.
A thousand thoughts ran through his mind, and with each passing second, he could feel his blood pump faster. His eyes began to lose focus as his vision slowly blurred out, his body turning numb.
Then—
He reacted.
Letting his deep instincts take over, his face snapped toward the tyrant’s face. His mouth opened as he bit into the Giant Knight out of pure desperation.
His teeth ripped off parts of the monster’s grotesque, wet skin, the thick metallic taste of iron flooding his mouth instantly.
Still, he did not stop.
He opened his mouth again. This time not aiming but only, biting, tearing at anything his mouth found.
Again.
And again.
Repeating these actions like a desperate animal trying to break its shackles.
Whether he swallowed the flesh he tore off or spat it out, he had no idea, as his brain had lost all rational thought.
Then a scream escaped the lips of the horrid tyrant, its grasp around Oliver loosening as it was clearly affected by his savage actions.
Still, he did not care.
At this moment, he was nothing more than a mindless creature tearing apart its prey.
It screamed. Repeatedly. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Until its grasp finally weakened... and its massive body collapsed toward the ground, defeated.
However, Oliver did not stop.
Not until air finally rushed back into his lungs, making him lightheaded.
Then he stopped, lingering for a moment as his sight and thinking slowly returned to him.
Moments passed.
And finally, he was able to form coherent thoughts again.
And there he knelt, his body atop the grotesque abomination, covered in both his blood and its own.
And beneath him lay the abomination, its face stripped of skin, one eye missing...
...and its life completely gone.
