Talent Awakening! Every Legendary Summon Grants Me Assassin Attributes-Chapter 49: The Void knight! An unexpected push
The two covered ground fast, leaving behind the graveyard they had created of the Cerberus beasts, and finally coming into view of the Dark Castle.
The Dark Crow scouted the way ahead, just as it usually did, and Oliver followed slowly behind, preparing himself for what came next.
At the gates of the Dark Castle, there stood a knight. One that was formidable, one that was notoriously difficult to go up against.
As Oliver got closer to the Dark Castle, he ordered the Dark Crow to return to him. For the upcoming battle, he was certainly going to need all the help he could get.
As the Crow returned to him... Oliver noticed something was off.
But by the moment he realized it—
Everything had already gone wrong.
Boom!
From behind a massive boulder, a black figure leapt out, moving so fast Oliver barely had time to react as a giant white blur slammed into his arm with terrifying force.
"Ahhhh!" Oliver’s face paled as he summoned Racell, forcing it up to block the blur before it could sink any deeper into his shoulder. The blur, all this time, had been a massive battle axe.
And holding it... was a Dark Knight, gripping it firmly with both hands.
"Gaaaaah!" A scream tore out of Oliver’s throat from the overwhelming pain.
The Dark Crow reacted instantly, diving toward the intruder with its talons stretched out—
SPLURT!
The ground collapsed in on itself from the sheer force of the clash, mounds of grit and dust erupting violently into the air before raining down shortly after in a suffocating haze.
Oliver, at this, retreated back a few steps, dismissing Racell and immediately grabbing onto his impaired shoulder. There was a deep cut running straight through it, nearly severing the arm entirely.
His breathing turned ragged, uneven.
His head oozed blood, the result of the Knight’s retaliation against the Crow’s attack, a fist thrown above Oliver’s head, grazing it slightly, yet carrying enough force to split skin and send blood streaming down his face.
Some of that blood had gotten into Oliver’s eyes.
But he did not dare blink.
Not when he was faced with his most formidable enemy yet.
Before him stood the most bizarre thing he had ever seen, a knight clad in dark, rusted armour, a torn red cape hanging lifelessly from its back. Its eyes were hollow, nothing but a void of blackness staring back at him, making Oliver question if there was anything inside the armour at all.
In its hand was a massive battle axe, drenched in blood...
Oliver’s blood.
The knight held the axe by its hilt with both hands, pulling it free from the scorched land before slowly resting it over its shoulder with unsettling calm.
Then it tilted its head.
Mocking him.
Baiting him.
But Oliver was no fool. He stood his ground, knowing that if he rushed into battle against this hideous monster, he would surely die.
The Crow was right beside him. Though it had lost both its legs, it hovered low, flapping its wings as its shadowy body regenerated rapidly, strands of darkness weaving back into form.
Within seconds, its legs had returned, and it stood once more at optimal strength.
However, Oliver was different.
There was no regeneration for him.
And if he were to die here... that would be the end of his physical body. There would be no returning to the normal world.
He grunted at that conclusion.
’No... I can’t die...’
He remembered this knight, the power it held and the only weakness it possessed: the small openings in its helmet.
However, in his first life, he had infinite regeneration. By sacrificing parts of his own body, he had managed to force his fingers into the eye sockets of the monster and kill it.
It had not been a beautiful sight.
Nonetheless... it had gotten the job done.
This time was different.
Oliver had to defeat this monster with skill alone. No poisonous dagger or bleeding effect was going to save him now.
’If only this bastard hadn’t ambushed me first... he’s usually before the Dark Castle, not hiding behind some large damned boulder.’
The Void Knight lunged forward at Oliver, having grown bored of waiting. It was fast, reaching him in mere seconds, its presence overwhelming with murderous intent.
It stretched out a hand, attempting to grab Oliver by the cloth—
But Oliver reacted.
He retreated backwards, quickly grabbing onto the cold metallic wrist of the monstrous knight, holding it in place with all the strength he could muster.
However, the Knight was not done.
With its other hand, it lifted the human-sized axe off its shoulder and cleaved down toward Oliver’s neck in a brutal arc.
"Hayaack!" Oliver groaned, ducking as fast as he could.
The axe grazed his hair, slicing through strands effortlessly as it passed.
The Dark Crow came to its master’s aid.
Launching itself at the Void Knight, its talons stretched wide, aiming to land its devastating crushing attack—
Yet—
The Void Knight reacted.
Despite both hands being engaged, its leg shot upward with insane speed and precision, slamming into the lower jaw of the summon with shattering force, sending it flying aside like it was a weightless piece of crap.
"Fuck!" Oliver released the knight’s hand and leapt back. Just in time, as the Knight swung its axe once again toward him.
He didn’t go unscathed.
Using his arm as a shield, the axe cut deeply into his forearm, a violent line of red trailing after the strike.
Oliver stabilized his footing.
Summoning Racell into his grasp, he hurled both daggers toward the Void Knight.
An obvious attack.
One the knight easily parried, raising its axe to block with perfect timing.
[Short Burst]
In that instant, Oliver lunged forward, leaping into the air to drive his knee into the face of the Void Knight with explosive force.
However, this seasoned warrior was prepared.
In a blur of motion, it shifted its grip on the axe with impossible speed and swung upward toward Oliver mid-air.
A trade.
It would take the knee—
But Oliver’s leg would be severed in two.
"Shit!" Oliver grunted, his breath leaving him as he summoned the blood-sucking daggers back into his hands, lowering them just in time to take the full brunt of the Demonic Knight’s swing. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
CLANG!
His hands shuddered violently from the impact, the force traveling through his arms like a shockwave, and he was immediately thrown off the Knight.
He landed on the ground a few feet away, staggering before barely regaining his footing.
[Blood-Sucking Daggers have been destroyed]
[You have lost an equipment]
"Fuck!" Oliver raised the broken daggers to his gaze, staring at them in disbelief.
The once crimson blades were now shattered into uneven halves, their tips gone. Reduced to jagged, useless remnants.
’If this was Racell... I would be in tears right about now.’
Thump!
Oliver’s gaze snapped upward to the Void Knight.
The mighty, colossal figure had driven its axe into the ground close to him... and let go of it.
This was... strange.
Oliver watched carefully, his eyes narrowing, as the Void Knight stepped forward and took a stance, balling its fists, its hollow gaze locked onto him with chilling intent.
"Boxing? Hahahahaha!" Oliver laughed. "You honourable fool, I accept your offer."
He dropped the ruined daggers to the ground and raised his fists.
’This is more advantageous to me... but I am not even sure how much. With a weapon, he’s formidable. Without one... I doubt that changes much.’
The Void Knight tilted its head once again, just as it had done earlier.
And then—
It charged.
