System: Replicating The Heavens-Chapter 502: Ch : PLM (16): Transformation of "Replication"
In this universe, there exist geniuses born with extraordinary innate talents. These innate talents are gifts that grant geniuses the potential to achieve feats beyond common imagination.
Alex was one such genius. His inborn ability allowed him to replicate treasures possessed by others. However, this ability was not without limitations. When it came to physical treasures—such as weapons, herbs, cultivation manuals, and similar objects—Alex could replicate them by consuming a sufficient amount of Soul Force. He can even replicate intangible inheritances like special physiques or bloodlines.
But there was still one absolute restriction. He could never replicate another person's comprehension of cultivation techniques, martial arts, Laws, Concepts, or their understanding of the Heavenly Dao.
However, that restriction no longer existed.
After enduring inhuman agony, Alex's soul entered a realm it should never have reached at his current cultivation. His soul ascended to the level of a Profound Immortal. At that exact moment, his innate ability, "Replication", underwent a fundamental transformation. Alex instantly understood that he could now replicate not only others' comprehension of cultivation techniques, martial arts, Laws, Concepts, and their understanding of the Heavenly Dao, but also their perfected insights, accumulated battle experience, and even the refined essence of their will and intent, as long as his soul could withstand the burden of such replication.
This meant that Alex could no longer merely copy external power but inherit the very foundations upon which others had built their strength.
One must understand that no one knows what kinds of life-and-death trials and unimaginable struggles a cultivator endures to obtain even a single moment of insight. Yet now, Alex could copy and inherit those hard-earned realizations as though he himself had experienced every one of those trials and awakenings.
This kind of ability was terrifying.
"Immortal-level Soul, huh?"
Alex muttered as he slowly stood up. His breathing was still ragged, and his consciousness was trembling, but he was still very excited. He can sense that he can achieve what he wants to do next.
Shua~
Alex's surroundings suddenly shifted, and he found himself back in the garden, where Fritz and Alicia were looking at him with undisguised worry. As for Elryn, he stood to the side, silently observing Alex without the slightest change in expression.
Seeing that Alex had awakened, Fritz hurried forward and asked, "Alex, are you alright? Did you succeed? Was that terrifying surge we felt the momentum of your soul's ascension?"
Alex was confused, but only for a few seconds. It didn't take long for him to understand that the moment his soul entered the level of a Profound Immortal, a powerful aura must have exploded from his body, sweeping his surroundings like a hurricane.
"Puff~"
Before Alex could answer, he suddenly felt a terrible pain attack him and spurted out a mouthful of blood. At the same time, cracks actually started appearing on his body.
"This... what is happening?" Alex looked at the cracks that suddenly appeared on his body in confusion.
Fritz's expression changed instantly when he saw the cracks spreading across Alex's body like fragile porcelain on the verge of shattering. His pupils shrank, and without thinking, he stepped forward, spiritual energy surging instinctively as if he could somehow stabilize Alex by force alone.
"Alex!" he shouted hoarsely. "Your body... what's happening to your body?!"
Alicia's soul trembled visibly as well. Even without a physical form, her emotions stirred the surrounding air into faint ripples. Panic flashed across her usually calm face as she stared at the fine fractures crawling over Alex's skin. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"This isn't backlash from the soul strengthening, is it?" Alicia asked urgently. "Elryn, say something! Why is his body breaking apart?"
Alex himself was completely confused. The pain was sharp, violent, and utterly different from the agony he had endured in the void of pure white. That pain had refined his soul; this one felt like his soul wanted to escape the restraints of his physical body; however, if it escapes, it will collapse immediately. Thus, such a situation occurred. He lowered his head, staring at his trembling hands as blood seeped from the cracks.
Elryn finally spoke calmly, as if he were explaining an obvious truth. "Umm... Let me explain. Imagine that Alex's physical body is a tank, vast but still limited. His soul is water."
Originally, the tank was designed to hold a certain amount of water, nothing more. But now, the water has reached the level of an ocean, far exceeding what the tank can contain. If water is forcefully poured in without any outlet, without any way to release the pressure, what do you think will happen?"
Alex, Alicia, and Fritz's faces went pale in an instant. They immediately guessed what must have happened.
"Obviously, the tank will explode," Elryn concluded calmly.
"Alex is only a True Divinity. He hasn't even entered the realm of Saints, yet his soul has already ascended to the rank of Profound Immortals. His body is nowhere near strong enough to contain such a powerful soul. These cracks are merely the warning signs of the inevitable. If nothing is done, his body and soul will collapse very soon."
Everyone had already formed a vague guess in their hearts after hearing half of Elryn's explanation, but when he finally stated that Alex's body and soul were on the verge of collapse, their expressions changed drastically.
"You knew this would happen, didn't you?" Fritz strode toward Elryn, his steps heavy with fury. He almost reached out to grab Elryn by the collar, but in that very instant, an overwhelming sense of danger washed over him. His instincts screamed in warning. He felt that if he dared to act recklessly anymore, he would be reduced to ashes in the blink of an eye.
Fortunately, Fritz listened to that warning and forcibly stopped himself. Still, his rage could not be contained. He clenched his fists and roared, "Since you already knew this would happen, why did you let his soul become so strong?!"
"Heh." Elryn snorted coldly and replied indifferently, "I am merely the owner of a shop. I do not concern myself with the consequences of a purchase. Even if an item were to destroy an entire galaxy, what would that have to do with me? As long as the price is paid, I sell."
His gaze turned sharp and indifferent as he continued, "Alex asked for something, and he paid the price. Obviously, I have him what he wanted. That is an equal exchange. You have no right to question me."
