Chapter 498: Ch 498: PLM (12): The Eternal Dao Embryo

"The Eternal Dao Embryo?"

Everyone frowned in confusion, as they knew nothing about the Eternal Dao Embryo. Unable to contain their curiosity, they looked at Elryn with questioning and puzzled gazes.

Not to mention the fact that Loren was an existence whose strength far surpassed the limit of the universe.

Elryn did not explain what the Eternal Dao Embryo truly was. Instead, his gaze turned distant as he spoke of Loren.

"Loren was one of the entities who fought over the Eternal Dao Embryo. At that time, he encountered another existence whose strength stood on the same level as his own. Between the two of them, there was no clear superiority. Their clash was direct and unavoidable, as both sought control over the same existence."

"Despite unleashing terrifying power, Loren failed. But his opponent didn’t succeed either. Neither of them managed to claim the Eternal Dao Embryo. No matter how violently they clashed, no matter how much strength they poured into their attacks, the result was still a complete failure. They were unable to obtain the Eternal Dao Embryo."

"However, the battle between the two did not go unnoticed. Their conflict attracted the attention of another behemoth. When this third entity entered the battlefield, the situation escalated beyond control. The exchange of power among the three reached a level that exceeded any form of balance or stability."

"As a result of the clash between these three entities, the Eternal Dao Embryo exploded and shattered into pieces. That explosion became the Big Bang, which gave birth to the universe. At the same time, four fragments of extraordinary completeness separated from the explosion, forming what was later known as the Four Supreme Stones."

"Unfortunately, that was not the end. The explosion of the Eternal Dao Embryo injured those three entities heavily. The first one to fight Loren was fell the most heavily injured one. To not let his enemies discover him, that entity silently disappeared."

"The third behemoth who joined the battle later was also gravely wounded, but unlike the first, it did not retreat into hiding. Instead, it vanished into the depths beyond the newborn universe, severing all traces of its presence so that Loren would not discover him."

"Do you know why he didn’t want Loren to discover him?"

Alex and others shook their heads.

Elryn explained, "It was because of him that Loren suffered devastating injuries. He was the one who dealt the heaviest blows to Loren. Because of him, Loren lost his most precious treasure—the ⧼First Chapter of the Chaos Scripture⧽. Because of him, Loren’s most cherished weapon, the ⧼Dark Sovereign Bow⧽, shattered into two pieces. It was also because of him that Loren lost one of his eyes. In short, he was the true reason Loren fell from his peak."

"If not for that explosion, the third behemoth would not have been injured so severely that he needed to sleep for eons just to recover even one percent of his wounds. Because of those injuries, he had no choice but to flee. However, Loren had no intention of letting him escape. Loren took out a hundred drops of his heart’s blood, cursed them, and cast them into the newly born universe where the third behemoth had gone into hiding. His intention was to use his blood to devour the life signatures of the creatures born within that universe. As long as the blood could devour those life signatures, he could slowly accumulate power and nurture a curse strong enough to eventually drag the entire universe along with the third behemoth into his downfall."

Alex’s face turned pale, Fritz swallowed hard, and Alicia’s breath caught in her throat. A heavy silence fell over them. Their hearts pounded with unease, realizing that the curse haunting Alex was born from a vendetta between beings far beyond comprehension.

This kind of feeling was truly suffocating.

Only now did they understand why Elryn previously said that even if they were to sell their souls, they wouldn’t be able to gather enough Boundless Coins to purchase a cure for the Loren’s Curse.

"Why?" Alex asked. "Since Loren’s enemy is the third behemoth, why does he want to destroy the entire universe? Can’t he simply enter the universe like the third behemoth, find him, and kill him?"

"He can’t, or rather, he couldn’t," Elryn replied calmly. "In that battle, Loren was also gravely injured. Such injuries do not heal even after millions of eons. Moreover, he has more than one enemy. How could he risk letting them discover his whereabouts? That is why he, too, went into hiding after leaving his trump cards behind to deal with the third behemoth."

"Of course, Loren never believed that his trump card alone would be enough to kill the third behemoth. As long as his blood could devour the life signatures of a hundred creatures within the universe, he would be able to use those life signatures to invade the universe’s source and destroy its will. Once that happened, locating the third behemoth would be effortless. At that point, with the universe under his control, killing the third behemoth would be the simplest of tasks."

Alex took a deep breath and asked, "How many life signatures had he devoured till now?"

Elryn smiled and replied with a single word, "98." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

"Ninety-eight?"

Fritz and Alicia exclaimed in shock. Didn’t that mean Loren was only two life signatures away from invading the universe and destroying it?

"One of them is me. What about the last one?" Alex remained silent for a moment. Then, after analyzing the situation, he asked calmly.

Elryn was slightly surprised that Alex could still think rationally at such a moment. The fact that he asked this question meant that Alex had no intention of allowing the Loren’s Curse to devour him and claim his life signature. As for how Alex intended to stop it, even Elryn had no idea.

Of course, he was very interested in knowing how Alex planned to get rid of the Loren’s Curse. After all, as Alex was right now, Elryn knew he would never be able to gather over a billion Boundless Coins to buy a cure from the Boundless Shop.

Other than the Boundless Shop, what other options could he have?
