System: Master Your Life-Chapter 557 - 135: One Day with Yu Xinyan_2
This is the complexity of human nature; neither purely good nor purely bad. Everyone has their selfish motives and complex human nature.
"Xu Lin, I’ll come find you then. You’re always the one who makes the journey; it makes me feel a bit embarrassed."
"Just let me know when you want to head over. Also, remember to stay safe when you go out."
"It’s a law-abiding society now, very safe."
"Generally speaking, it might be safe for most people. But you’re pretty, so it’s not entirely safe for you. Keep an eye out, like if a classmate invites you to a bar, tell me first and give me her phone number. I’ll just send her mom a little greeting."
"Oh, I’ll remember what you said. Plus, I don’t drink and wouldn’t go to a bar."
"The bar was just an example. There are plenty of places where bad things can happen. There’s a saying about ’the second location.’ Like if I take you out for dinner, and we’ve agreed to this restaurant, but I didn’t say anything about going to a hotel. After dinner, I persuade you to go to a hotel – that’s the ’second location.’ Understand? There are lots of bad people out there, so stay alert."
"Got it! I will definitely keep that in mind!"
For the next half hour, they chatted, discussing random topics, like interesting things that happened during high school, and amusing people and events Yu Xinyan encountered recently.
Unknowingly, half an hour passed.
Afterwards, Xu Lin fell asleep. Yu Xinyan took a few extra minutes before noticing Xu Lin had dozed off. She couldn’t resist giving him a quick peck and then fell asleep herself soon after.
Tonight, she was well-behaved, no midnight attempts to pull down Xu Lin’s pants.
Not a word was spoken through the night.
By the next morning, both were up by five AM.
Since they had plans to go hiking, it made sense to start early. It was already April, and once the sun fully appears, it heats up quickly enough to make you sweat.
Shortly after five, they arrived at the mountain’s base, their destination.
"Xu Lin, there are so many people!"
Yu Xinyan adjusted the brim of her cap and looked ahead.
She saw a large gathering of people, mostly young adults, especially college students, though the place wasn’t overly crowded.
"Let’s go, we’re heading up!"
"Mhm, mhm."
It took Xu Lin and his company over an hour to reach the summit.
It was just past seven o’clock.
The sun was rising, its brilliant rays casting from afar, connecting the sky and earth, making this moment tempting to capture through photos.
Yu Xinyan felt the same urge.
Yu Xinyan’s particular style when taking pictures was this: she liked documenting Xu Lin. Most of the images on her phone were of Xu Lin’s radiant youth.
In contrast, Rong Xiyi, who also loved photography, tended to capture everything without much differentiation, like many of her peers.
This was the difference between Yu Xinyan and Rong Xiyi.
"Xu Lin, stand still. I want to take your picture, facing me while you stand with your back to the sun."
Across from her, Xu Lin complied, standing with his back to the glorious morning sun.
This rising sun symbolized the beginning of a youth like a melodious song with countless beautiful uncertainties in the future.
In short, everything was only just beginning, and all is yet to be written.
The morning breeze on the mountain top ruffled Xu Lin’s hair a bit.
A month had passed, and Xu Lin’s hair had grown longer.
So his hair danced messily in the wind.
Yu Xinyan seized these moments and took several beautiful pictures of Xu Lin.
"Come over here, I’ll take your picture."
After she finished, Xu Lin called her over.
Following that, Xu Lin also took a dozen or so pictures of Yu Xinyan, and then they asked a passerby to help snap a photo of them together.
"Let’s head down the mountain!"
Xu Lin said, "Hop on my back."
"Oh, oh!"
Yu Xinyan was delighted and promptly clung onto Xu Lin’s back.
"Xu Lin, you’re so good to me!"
"In what way?"
"You simply accompany me, and even carry me down the mountain."
"It’s just convenient to do so, and you’re too slow. I can go down faster."
Xu Lin descended the mountain quickly; it had taken over an hour to climb, but only twenty minutes to go down. If it weren’t for the people on the path, he could’ve been even faster.
It was perfect timing for an early lunch.
"Xu Lin, let’s go on an adventure in the ghost house!"
"Ok."
Soon, Xu Lin and his company arrived inside the ghost house.
The ghost house was quite popular with many couples playing there.
This particular ghost house featured Chinese-style horror, pitch-black darkness giving off a creepy vibe. Some people were intimidated by the eerie setup almost immediately upon entering.
Yu Xinyan was among them, clinging tightly to Xu Lin’s arm, too scared to let go.
"Xu Lin, are you scared?"
"What would I be scared of?"
"Amazing, you’re not scared at all!"
Yu Xinyan felt a rush of security and asked, "What do you think would happen if there were real ghosts in the world?"
"With someone as strong and lively as me, wouldn’t a ghost see me and immediately shatter its courage and tremble? If it dared to show up before me, I’d make it call me daddy, kneeling and crying, saying ’Daddy, spare me, Daddy, I’m your son!’"
Suddenly Yu Xinyan laughed, "Haha, Xu Lin, you’re so adorable!"
"You should say I’m cool. Guys aren’t cute. Am I like a super sweet apple? I could one-punch an entire Time Teenage Group."
"Mhm, mhm, Xu Lin is so cool!" Yu Xinyan giggled.
Wow, seriously!
Here they were; the guy and girl chatting and laughing in this dark, terrifying ghost house. The zombie actor meant to frighten them was almost speechless, wondering if maybe some respect could be shown, given it was a ghost house, and a Chinese-style horror one at that, not the flimsy Western-style horror.
