Chapter 46: Pleasant Morning & Class Evolution

For the next three days, Damon rested in some nearby apartment building and waited for his injuries to heal. He left very rarely, only to grab some essentials like food or water, but other than that, he remained in bed and allowed his body to heal.

On the morning of the fourth day since they left the hospital, the pain finally felt manageable.

"Morning~" A soft voice purred from the other side of the bed.

While looking for a place to rest, the only apartment that seemed usable enough had only one bed. Fortunately, it was a king-sized bed, so there was enough space for both of them to sleep without stepping into anyone’s personal space.

Kitsune, however, didn’t care for things such as personal space. More than that, she was also wearing the nightgown she had found a couple of days ago, one that certainly wasn’t made for sleeping.

And now, seeing him awake, she moved like a snake, appearing beside Damon in an instant and wrapping her slender arms around him before he could get a chance to get up.

"How are your injuries?~" She asked as she moved her leg on top of him.

"They’re... better," he answered, genuinely feeling a lot better than yesterday.

"Mmm, good enough for a morning exercise?" She asked as she suddenly moved on top of him.

She sat up, her short nightgown exposing her long legs. Her silver-white hair swayed gently in front of his face as she tilted her head slightly, staring at him with a look he didn’t quite understand.

Though ever since she arrived at his side, he had spent every minute with her, even now, Damon was often caught off guard by her ethereal beauty. It was unlike anything he had seen before. She looked more like a deity than a simply beautiful girl.

And she understood that very well through his gaze. Her smile widened as she saw his gaze move across her body.

Suddenly, his hands moved to her waist, catching her slightly off guard.

"Even better..." he said, replying to her earlier question, "I’m feeling good enough to head for the citadel."

The moment he finished the sentence, he lifted her in the air and moved her to the side before getting up from the bed.

"Huh?" Kitsune blinked.

Then, her lips turned into a pout as she realised what had just happened.

"You-" she began, but before she could finish her sentence, Damon cut in.

"But before we leave, I think its time to raise some stats"

Immediately, Kitsune’s pout turned into excitement, and Damon didn’t need to be told what she was thinking as he already knew.

"I won’t spend all my points on mana."

Before she could retort, Damon had already summoned his status window.

Damon studied his status screen carefully before he finally reached the bottom of the list.

’11 stat points... I guess it’s been a while since I raised any stats, huh’

The first choice of a stat to raise was obvious. Although it was already his highest stat, raising vitality meant he could use Berserker’s Fury longer, which when active, gave a boost to three of his other stats.

With his mind already made up he added six stat points into vitality, bringing it up to a total of 80 points.

His lowest stat now was the stamina.

Even though he felt inclined to raise a stat that offers more combat power, such as strength, dexterity or mana, he knew very well that stamina was just as important, and so he allocated 4 points into it, not wanting to let it drag him down.

Finally, he was left with one point, which he purposely left behind. He didn’t like to leave uneven numbers, so without much thought, he put that single point into mana, but the moment he did, a sudden notification rang loudly in his head.

[Requirements for *Dark Evolution* Met!]

[Your class is evolving!]

Unlike before, this time the process of Dark Evolution felt different.

The moment the notification appeared, Damon felt it, a pulling sensation behind his eyes, like his consciousness was being drawn toward something he couldn’t see.

His passive ability, Absolute Comprehension, had activated.

But this time, it wasn’t observing Eve’s Gunslinger class or studying a monster’s movements.

This time, it was comprehending evolution itself.

His vision blurred. The apartment around him, Kitsune’s concerned face, the rumpled bed, the morning light through the broken window, all of it faded into darkness.

And then, he saw it.

Threads.

Thousands upon thousands of invisible threads, woven together in intricate patterns that formed the structure of his Dark Sorcerer class. Each thread represented something, a limitation, a boundary, a rule that defined what the class could and couldn’t do.

But some of those threads differed, some of those threads looked almost like...

’Shackles?’

[Your comprehension of *Dark Evolution* has slightly increased!]

The notification barely registered as his mind dove deeper.

None of the threads were random.

They formed patterns, specific configurations that created the framework of ’class’. Level caps. Ability restrictions. Stat affinities. Evolution requirements. All of it was written in these threads, and as he dove deep, Damon could almost make sense of it all.

’So that’s what a class really is...’

[Your comprehension of *Dark Evolution* has slightly increased!]

And now, some of those threads began to break.

One by one, the threads, those that resembled shackles around the "Dark Sorcerer" class, began to snap. Although they were breaking, it wasn’t violent. There was an elegance to it, one that Damon couldn’t understand just yet.

Each broken thread released a small pulse of energy, one that Damon wouldn’t immediately feel unless he was observing it.

Then, the threads that made up the class itself began to expand. The older, weaker threads began to get replaced with threads of different patterns. Damon didn’t know what those patterns meant, but he could tell they were stronger.

[Your comprehension of *Dark Evolution* has significantly increased!]
