Chapter 262: Chapter 262: Warning

Mimi sighed softly, "If you don’t mind, why not come to my place for the night?"

Moira Young’s eyes lit up slightly, but she hesitated, "Is it convenient?"

"What’s inconvenient about it? It’s much better than you wandering the streets alone late at night. It’s so unsafe for a girl like you." Mimi’s eyes were full of concern. Moira was so beautiful, if anything were to happen to her, her life would be ruined.

Mimi’s face was full of sincerity, and Moira, no longer pretentious, nodded in agreement.

"Let’s go home." Mimi chuckled, stepping forward to take Moira Young’s arm.

Carter Porter was dumbfounded by the scene, foolishly tugging at Mimi’s sleeve, "Aren’t we having a late-night snack?"

Mimi clapped her hands, annoyed, "I almost forgot about that. Fine, let’s grab something to eat first and then head home."

Moira Young actually had no appetite but couldn’t resist Carter and Mimi’s enthusiasm. In the end, she ate a few bites perfunctorily.

By the time they arrived at Mimi’s house, it was nearly eleven at night.

Moira Young was exhausted, feeling utterly drained, like a marionette. She did whatever Mimi told her to, as if she had lost the ability to think.

Her absent-minded appearance made Mimi even more curious about what had happened. But since Moira didn’t speak, she felt embarrassed to ask. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

After more than an hour of fussing, they finally finished everything they needed to do.

Moira Young sat on Mimi’s soft, large bed, staring blankly at one spot, looking a bit dazed.

Mimi scratched her head somewhat embarrassed, "Moira, I don’t have an extra guest room. You’ll have to bear with sleeping with me."

Hearing Mimi’s voice, Moira Young chuckled and shook her head, "How could it be an imposition? You’re taking me in; I should be thanking you."

"You’re Carter’s friend, so you’re my friend too. No need to thank me." Mimi said, nonchalantly sitting next to Moira, with eyes twinkling like stars in the sky.

Looking at Mimi’s sincere and adorable smile, Moira Young couldn’t help but smile as well. It’s good, it seems not everyone has a fate as troubled as hers.

Mimi, laughing, suddenly turned serious, "Moira, I don’t know what has happened to you, but life is long, full of all kinds of disappointments. You must try to keep an open mind."

Not knowing how to comfort people, she hoped these words might help Moira to see things a bit clearer.

There was no discernible emotion on Moira Young’s face, her eyes dull. She replied softly, "If I could be open-minded, that would be nice."

She truly couldn’t let it go.

With closed eyes, her mind was filled with Julian Sinclair—his voice and smile, his gentleness and indulgence, and his heartlessness...

"In any case, life has to go on. As others say, a day spent happy or unhappy is still a day, so why not choose to live happily? Don’t you agree?"

After saying that, Mimi felt it made sense and nodded earnestly, thinking whoever said that was truly wise.

Moira Young was amused by her cute expression, and her once melancholy face showed a change.

"Yay? You’re smiling!" Mimi pointed at Moira Young in surprise, clapping at her blooming smile, "See, you think what I said makes sense too, right?"

Moira Young remained noncommittal, as if it did make a bit of sense.

Thanks to Mimi’s persistent encouragement, Moira’s mood indeed improved quite a bit,

She suddenly felt a little envious of Mimi, who had a warm family and a loving boyfriend, and though not particularly wealthy, lived happily.

Thinking of this, Moira’s eyelids grew heavy, and she didn’t know how long she slept.

When she woke up, Mimi was already dressed up and sitting on the small couch reading.

Seeing Moira awake, she quickly stood up and walked over, "Moira, you’re up? Are you hungry?"

Moira Young was about to say no when an embarrassing rumble came from her stomach, leaving her no choice but to nod.

"I’m not much of a cook. How about we order takeaway?" Mimi feared Moira would mind, so she didn’t dare order ahead, wanting to ask Moira what she wanted when she woke up.

"Sure." Moira Young certainly had no objections. She was now eating and living there without charge, hardly in a position to be picky.

Half an hour later, the two of them were eating piping hot takeaway. Meanwhile, in the hospital, a certain man was on the verge of a breakdown.

"Where is she?" Julian Sinclair’s handsome face was grim, a storm brewing in his dark eyes, ready to erupt at any moment.

"President Sinclair, we haven’t found her yet." A trembling voice came from the other end of the phone.

"If you can’t find her, don’t bother coming back!" Julian Sinclair hung up, his expression so grim it was frightening.

Returning to the ward, his face grew even grimmer at the sight of Fiona Rhodes.

Fiona, however, seemed unaware, blinking her big eyes pitifully and pouting, "Julian, my ankle hurts. Can you take a look at it for me?"

Julian Sinclair stood there, unmoving, not even sparing a glance at Fiona.

His reaction displeased Fiona, who insisted, "Julian, please take a look for me."

"Fiona Rhodes, haven’t you had enough of your antics?" Julian Sinclair’s face turned cold, clearly impatient.

Startled by his sudden outburst, Fiona quickly returned to her fragile demeanor, "What are you talking about? I’m not making a fuss, my foot just hurts..."

"I tolerated you for the sake of the Rhodes family, but I hope you can recognize your place and not push your luck."

Julian showed no kindness to Fiona and didn’t wait for her to respond before pouring cold water on her, "Did you really think your little tricks could fool me?"

"I..." Fiona was at a loss for words, unable to say anything despite trying hard.

Julian glared at her with warning eyes and, after a moment, turned and left the ward.

Watching Julian’s departing figure, Fiona gritted her teeth in anger.

"Moira Young!!! I won’t let you get away with this!" She blamed all the disdain and threats she faced on Moira Young.

As long as Fiona Rhodes was alive, she’d never let Moira Young have an easy life!

Julian Sinclair never visited Fiona Rhodes again after leaving. Fiona had only sprained her foot and demanded hospitalization for sympathy. Without Julian visiting her, staying longer was pointless, so she checked herself out.

On the third day after Moira Young left, Julian Sinclair finally heard from her and, learning she was staying at Mimi’s, never asked again.

For the next half month, Julian immersed himself in work at the company, almost never returning home, eating and sleeping at the office.

Every night, he worked overtime until four or five in the morning, then slept for an hour or two before starting work again.

Steward Liu watched this with a heavy heart, knowing that no matter how strong Julian’s body was, it couldn’t withstand such reckless nights.
