Chapter 239: Chapter 239: Game

"No way! You have to join us!"

Faced with Heath’s relentless insistence, along with Carter and Mimi jumping on the bandwagon, Morton had no choice but to sit down. "Alright then, I’ll play with you guys for a bit."

"Great, the more people, the more fun!" Mimi excitedly pulled dice out of her bag.

Carter and Heath exchanged a baffled look, wondering how she always had everything.

Heath asked with his eyes, "You had no idea?"

Carter responded with his eyes, "I only met her a few days ago, damn it."

"Ahem, Mimi, do you have any other treasures in that bag of yours?" Heath stretched his neck, trying to peek inside.

"That’s it, I just thought everyone would eat together, so I prepared these," Mimi said, placing the dice on the table.

"Okay, guess odd or even. If you guess wrong, then we’ll play rock-paper-scissors, and the loser gets punished," Mimi explained the rules.

Moira Young was clueless when it came to these games. She never played them. During past class reunions, she would sit in the corner alone, not participating in any activities. Now that she was starting to play these games again, she still didn’t quite get it.

"Alright, let’s play it like that," Heath said, rubbing his hands together, ready to guess.

Mimi shook the dice container a few times, saying, "Guess!"

"Odd!"

"Odd!"

"Even," Morton said calmly.

Moira hesitated for a moment, "Um... I’ll guess even too."

"I guess odd," Mimi said, then opened the container, revealing the combined result of the two dice was odd. "It’s odd! Moira and Morton guessed wrong!"

Moira was still in a daze, and Morton chuckled, "So, I guess it’s rock-paper-scissors with Moira?"

"Yes, the loser has to be punished."

Morton and Moira played rock-paper-scissors, and Morton lost.

Heath grinned mischievously, as if he had been waiting for this moment, "Do you choose truth or dare?"

Morton looked at him helplessly, "In front of you, do I dare choose dare?"

Moira couldn’t help but laugh. Seeing Moira’s cheerfulness, Heath got even more excited.

"Then go with truth."

Morton nodded, "Okay, truth then."

Heath squinted his eyes, as if interrogating, but in a comedic way, "What exactly is your relationship with that Japanese salesgirl?"

Moira had no idea what kinds of questions could be asked in truth games before, but now that she heard Heath’s question, she suddenly became interested.

"How do you say it in Chinese? Just friends who grew up together," Morton explained.

"Childhood sweethearts?" Mimi quickly interjected.

"Maybe," Morton was vaguely familiar with the term "childhood sweethearts," not realizing it typically describes a romantic relationship. He thought it just meant childhood friends.

"Oh—" Heath said with an understanding tone, "so that’s how it is!"

"No wonder," Moira couldn’t help but add. When she met that girl that day, she felt she wasn’t ordinary.

The game continued, and this time it was Heath’s turn to roll the dice.

After everyone guessed, the final result showed only one person guessed wrong, and that was Heath who threw the dice.

"No way, is my luck really that bad?" Heath couldn’t believe it himself.

Carter seized the opportunity, "Heath, choose dare. I’m your buddy, I’ll definitely give you an easy one."

Heath looked grateful, "Alright, you’re the best, I’ll take dare."

"Although I could give you an easy one, my girlfriend has the final say on these things," Carter suddenly chimed in.

Heath lost it, "You’re playing me?"

"No, you just didn’t let me finish," Carter retorted.

Moira laughed with twinkling eyes. She always knew Carter and Heath had a funny dynamic, but perhaps due to the influence of a little alcohol, it seemed even more entertaining this time.

Carter and Heath were almost about to fight, with Mimi pulling Carter back and Morton holding onto Heath, while Moira sat at the side like a referee, blankly watching.

"You little trickster! Just wait and see how I get you!" Heath threatened, glaring fiercely at Carter.

Mimi wasn’t happy upon hearing this, "Heath, your dare is to find the heaviest person in this place and give him a hug."

Moira took a look around. The heaviest person currently in the store seemed to be one of the young men sitting in the corner, looking to be about two hundred pounds.

However, they were customers, and approaching them out of the blue like this might not be a good idea.

Morton didn’t find it convenient to say it himself, but Moira understood. She suggested, "Let’s narrow it down a bit; maybe find the heaviest staff member and hug them for five seconds."

"Damn, Moira, when did you get so good at this?" Heath and Carter couldn’t believe it.

But at the same time, Carter gave Mimi a look, indicating that since this was Morton’s place, it’s probably best not to involve the customers.

"Morton, who’s the heaviest in your store? Let him know that being hugged by Heath for five seconds is his honor!" Heath was getting ready to stand up and complete his dare.

Morton pointed to the kitchen, "The dishwashing lady is the heaviest. She really likes you, she’ll be thrilled."

Heath couldn’t help but chuckle, "Alright, a deal is a deal. I’ll go do it now!"

Having said that, he headed to the kitchen to complete the punishment.

Playing through the game repeatedly, the time always seemed to fly by. Oddly enough, Moira hadn’t lost even once, so she happily enjoyed the show.

Moira’s phone showed several missed calls, all from the driver. She didn’t want to answer them.

It was already quite late, nearly all the customers in Morton’s store had left, leaving just them, tipsy from drinking.

"One last round, then we’ll all go home," said Mimi, who had a good tolerance for alcohol compared to everyone else, seeming unaffected.

She rolled the dice, "Odd or even!"

Carter was almost too tired to play, "I guess even."

"Odd, I’ll just guess the opposite of you," Heath said, raising his chin defiantly.

Morton remained calm and polite, "Odd."

"I’ll guess odd too," Moira said.

The result of this round was that Carter guessed wrong, while everyone else guessed correctly.

Carter was too tired to handle any more dares, after the last rounds wore him out, so he said, "I’ll choose truth, I really can’t handle any more dares."

"Then I’ll ask you," Mimi turned to face him.

"Carter, did you get drunk tonight with the intention of sleeping with me?"

The air suddenly froze, and everyone held their breath.

Heath involuntarily swallowed, thinking how sharp this girl was to have detected his intentions.

Carter was extremely nervous inside, he was about to make up a lie to get away with it, but then suddenly got distracted by a noise at the door.

Everyone turned towards the entrance, thinking someone new had arrived.

Only Moira recognized that it was Julian Sinclair’s driver. Her heart skipped a beat; Julian must have come.

The driver approached Moira respectfully and said, "Miss, I’m here to take you home."
