Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 195: Teaching Support Volunteering
Elena’s face turned a bit red, and she awkwardly smiled at Mr. Lee, "He really heard it wrong..."
Mr. Lee politely smiled and said, "Alright, let me take everyone to eat."
Moira Young followed at the back of the group, and when she reached the cafeteria, she hadn’t even seen what it looked like before a few girls couldn’t stand it anymore and walked out.
Moira took a few steps inside and only then saw that the environment here seemed a bit...
A bit dirty.
Last night’s meal was at least prepared by the staff, so they could somewhat accept it, but this time it was truly unacceptable.
Honestly, Moira couldn’t accept it either, but seeing these girls leaving one after another, she gritted her teeth and went in.
Crystal and Elena were still there. Elena probably felt that the scene earlier was too embarrassing for her, so she wanted to make up for it somehow.
Crystal sold herself as fragile and kind, so she definitely wouldn’t leave.
Moira caught up and walked to Mr. Lee’s side.
"The conditions here are limited, but the school has specially prepared new bowls and chopsticks for you, which haven’t been used," Mr. Lee said, having seen many people from big cities, he understood their feelings at this moment.
Being unable to accept dirtiness doesn’t mean they aren’t compassionate, Mr. Lee understood and empathized.
Elena, Crystal, and Moira sat together with Mr. Lee, carrying their meals, and sat on the worn-out wooden posts.
"Mr. Lee, do you know Sean?" During the meal, Moira sat diagonally across from Mr. Lee and suddenly remembered that Sean should also be studying here.
Mr. Lee always remembered a quiet girl who stood alone at the back of the group. He had an impression of her, but he thought she had already left because she couldn’t accept the environment here.
She smiled and replied, "Of course, I know him. Sean is one of the top students here, and his family is among the better-off around here. His parents work away from home for long periods, saving money to strengthen the house for Sean and his grandmother."
Moira thought of last night’s bowl of meat and couldn’t help but ask, "Mr. Lee, do you not eat meat often here?"
"Generally, we only have it during the New Year, or if there’s a major celebration." 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Only then did Moira understand, her nose tingling with emotion, that last night’s serving of meat was probably meant to be saved for the New Year, but it was brought out early for her.
"Ah—!" Suddenly, Crystal let out a panicked scream, almost throwing her chopsticks!
This was immediately followed by a bout of dry heaving.
Moira looked in Crystal’s direction and saw a small living creature. Moira couldn’t hold back and started gagging too, covering her mouth.
Mr. Lee, unfazed, picked it up with chopsticks and threw it on the ground.
"How about I take you to the office for some water?" Mr. Lee knew they definitely couldn’t eat anymore, so he suggested they just stop.
Before leaving, he specifically told the surrounding children, "There are still four meals here; split them up."
With that, the children rushed forward, with one older one taking on the task of distributing the food.
As Moira left, she glanced back and saw the joyful sparkles in the children’s eyes.
When Mr. Lee led the three of them to the office, several girls who had already left before followed them in too.
They all sat and rested in the office until the children finished their meals and returned to the classroom.
The class bell rang, and Mr. Lee assigned groups to everyone.
Perhaps because Elena, Crystal, and Moira were together at lunch, Mr. Lee grouped the three of them together, while everyone else was in pairs.
There were four groups in total, each going to different classes.
Elena and Crystal linked arms, appearing very close.
Upon entering the classroom, since all three were inexperienced, they felt a little awkward. Fortunately, Crystal was great at drawing, so she led the students in a drawing session.
Moira stood to the side, observing. When some children couldn’t keep up, Moira stepped in to help, teaching them hands-on.
"Teacher, you’re so pretty." As Moira seriously held this little girl’s hand, teaching her, the girl looked up at Moira, smiling like a little flower.
Moira was momentarily stunned, then smiled and patted her head, "You’re pretty too."
This girl’s name was Trudy. Her desk-mate was absent, and as Moira looked around the classroom, Trudy’s was the only empty desk. So she asked, "Trudy, who usually sits next to you?"
"Holden Hale," Trudy said, then took out Holden’s book, with his name written on it.
"So this is Sean’s seat." Moira looked at Sean’s book briefly, noting the densely packed words, though many were smudged, possibly because the pencil was too thick.
"Teacher, do you know Sean?"
"Yes, I stayed at his house last night."
Trudy thought for a moment and asked, "Teacher, why isn’t Sean here today?"
Moira didn’t want to mention Sean’s grandmother’s injury, so she replied, "He had something to do, so he took the day off."
Trudy picked up her pen and continued drawing, muttering, "Sean has never taken a day off."
Moira didn’t know what to say, so she pretended not to hear and went to help the students behind who couldn’t draw.
Perhaps because Elena, Crystal, and Moira, as three pretty girls, lacked authority, within just a few minutes, the classroom turned into a marketplace, with a few boys roughhousing.
Seeing things were getting out of control, Moira thought of an idea. She went to the teacher’s desk and clapped twice, "Everyone be quiet, I have little gifts to give out!"
Hearing the word "gifts," the whole class immediately quieted down and sat up straight.
"Whoever performs best today will receive a small gift from the teacher." Moira took out the pens she brought, including two mechanical pencils, with the rest being ballpoint pens. These pens were from well-known brands and wrote differently from ordinary pens.
"There are two mechanical pencils and five black ballpoint pens, so I’ll choose seven students who perform the best in class to receive them." As Moira held up the pens to show everyone, all the children’s eyes were glued to them.
They had never seen such finely crafted pens; even the teachers’ pens were just ordinary black ones. They all wanted them very much.
"Alright, everyone continue drawing!" Elena didn’t want Moira to become the center of attention, so she clapped her hands to get everyone back to drawing.
The afternoon went by both quickly and slowly, leaving everyone exhausted, their voices gone hoarse from shouting.
Moira selected seven well-behaved and outstanding children and handed out the pens. Seeing the happiness on their faces, she felt a sense of accomplishment.
However, she had brought so little this time without preparation, so she resolved to buy many more supplies to send them when she returned.
With five minutes until the program group assembled, Moira found Mr. Lee and handed him the books she brought.
Mr. Lee thanked her repeatedly.
