Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 182: The Boss
The entrance of Glen Bar.
Moira Young paid the taxi driver but hesitated to get out.
The driver grew impatient, "Miss, are you getting out or not? I have a lot more orders to take."
Moira was lost in thought, and being spoken to like that startled her, making her jump.
Even though she knew she couldn’t delay the driver’s work, she was too afraid to leave the car.
Her hands were tightly pressing against her pockets, inside of which was pepper powder, her palms sweating with tension.
"Hey, can you hurry up and get out? If not, I’ll just keep driving!" The driver’s phone kept ringing with more ride requests.
Moira gathered her courage and tried not to think about anything, then opened the car door.
She hesitated at the bar entrance.
Glen sent another text, "You have five minutes, and if you don’t come, just wait to see tomorrow’s headlines!"
Moira swallowed hard, staying on high alert, and finally walked inside.
Glen was waiting in the lobby, and as soon as he saw Moira, his tense face broke into a smile, "I knew you’d come."
"Why did you call me here?" Moira looked around; there weren’t many people.
"It’s simple, a few big bosses will come later, and all you need to do is drink with them." Glen checked the time, "They should be here in about ten minutes."
"Why should I listen to you?" Moira couldn’t possibly be willing to drink with strangers.
"Because I have a video of you, do I need to remind you again and again?" Glen always felt a bit guilty mentioning the video because he didn’t actually have any video of Moira on his phone.
Tonight’s big bosses were some big shots in his WeChat group, looking for something new, which is why Glen called Moira over.
In terms of novelty and allure, Moira was top of the list.
Moira watched him warily.
"Don’t look at me like that. All the female artists at LE have come through this. Aren’t they all fine now? It’s not like it’s a life-risking task. Don’t be afraid, and if you keep those bosses happy, you’ll definitely benefit." Glen lifted a glass of wine and drank it in one gulp.
Moira suddenly remembered seeing Vivi and others at the company the other day. Although Glen’s words couldn’t be fully trusted, they were close enough.
Ten minutes later, Glen kept checking his watch, but the bosses hadn’t arrived.
He checked their WeChat group only to find that they weren’t coming due to other commitments.
Glen thought to himself, maybe it’s better this way; his leg had been injured by Heath Sterling a few days ago. After finally getting discharged, he wanted to have some fun.
Since he hadn’t yet had a chance with Moira, he might as well take it today.
"Come with me." Glen told Moira to follow him.
Moira hesitated, unwilling to move, "Where to?"
"You’ll know once you get there." Glen took out his phone and tapped the screen, indicating he had the video on his phone.
Moira instinctively wanted to cover her pocket but held back for fear of being found out.
She followed Glen to the office she found utterly repulsive and terrifying. The moment she entered, she felt as if she’d inhaled something hallucinogenic; perhaps it was psychological.
Moira tried to breathe as discreetly as possible.
Glen locked the room door from behind, causing Moira to panic and reach into her pocket containing the pepper powder.
"You don’t have to accompany those bosses for a drink anymore; just keep me, your scandalous boyfriend, company tonight!" Glen laughed, "You haven’t checked your phone in the last few days, have you? The headlines are about you visiting me in the hospital, and you quietly acknowledged our relationship."
"Since you’ve acknowledged it, why not make it official? What do you think?"
Moira had felt something was off when she went there that day, and now she realized it was all part of his plan.
Moira heightened her alertness, taking steps back.
Glen raised an eyebrow, "Retreat as much as you want; there’s nowhere to go. It’s just the two of us in this room, and no one’s coming in."
He looked at her like a flustered kitten, seeing her as a bit tricky but ultimately thinking she was just a girl and easy to subdue.
"Just be good; I’ll be gentle." Glen reached out to grab Moira.
Moira immediately grabbed a handful of pepper powder from her pocket and threw it harshly in Glen’s face!
As Glen was trying to comprehend the situation, Moira covered her nose and mouth, grabbed another handful, and aimed it at his eyes.
"Ah—!" Glen screamed, clutching his eyes in agony!
Moira snatched his phone and sprinted to the door, flinging it open and darting out.
"Catch her! Quick—!" Glen yelled in both pain and anger, urging his men to seize her!
Moira ran as if her life depended on it, wildly, while the surrounding waitstaff merely circled her. Even they were just employees, not thugs, so they dared not actually harm her.
"Stop her!" Glen shouted in fury. The pain in his eyes felt like it was tearing him apart, and the more it hurt, the angrier he became.
Running as if blind to everything, Moira collided with something obstructing her path, not even looking up, and crashed right into it!
The person embraced her tightly!
At that moment!
Moira felt Julian Sinclair’s presence!
She abruptly looked up, seeing Julian’s eyes filled with ice-cold fury as they scanned the room. Tears welled up instantly, and she instinctively clung to him.
"Uncle..." Moira was utterly terrified. Only in Julian’s embrace could she smell the scent of safety.
Julian’s muscles tensed momentarily, the sudden utterance of ’Uncle’ like the spring sun shining into the darkness of his heart. For a brief moment, he vaguely remembered when Moira first called him Uncle.
But it was only a fleeting moment.
Glen was beside himself, rinsing his eyes with bottled water, but the more he washed, the more it hurt. He was unaware of the new player now present in his bar.
"Did you catch her? Did you catch her!" Glen nearly roared, his eye injury minor compared to the loss of his phone to Moira’s hands!
If the phone’s contents leaked, he’d be finished!
"Bo-boss... there’s someone..." One waiter was so intimidated by Julian’s aura that he stuttered.
"Stop with the nonsense!" Glen kicked towards the sound source, but the person dodged, leaving Glen kicking air.
Then, he lost his balance and fell to the ground.
Julian had no interest in Glen’s antics, merely waving a hand casually, and a man in black approached.
"Take him away." Julian stated coldly, carrying Moira in his arms with a stony face as he delivered these two words.
Immediately, the man in black sealed Glen’s mouth, bound him, and took him away.
