Chapter 179: Chapter 179: Prison Break

"Oh my! I’m perfectly fine now, it’s nothing." Heath was already preparing to get out of bed.

Moira Young had no idea what to say to stop him.

If Heath leaves the hospital now, Moira is essentially their accomplice. She remembered what Heath’s dad said, today she was just here to visit him, and had no other intentions.

"Come on, quick! Before my mom gets back, let’s hurry and leave!" Heath got out of bed and walked effortlessly.

Carter Porter handed him a jacket to put on.

"Did you drive?" Heath asked.

Carter awkwardly scratched his head, his features slightly twisted, "My car got impounded by the traffic police..."

"What! What did you do?" Heath looked at him in disdain.

"It’s all because of Thea Thorne, that night you got hospitalized, she insisted I take her to find Moira Young, and I got distracted and hit over 200 mph..."

"..." Heath blinked disdainfully at him, speechless.

"How on earth are we going to leave now!" Heath was frustrated.

"Can’t we just grab a cab? It’s convenient..." Carter voiced his suggestion with little confidence...

"Are you dumb? If we grab a cab right outside the hospital, we’re bound to run into my mom! Can’t you use your brain? No wonder Thea always complains about you being stupid, you really are!" Heath texted quickly, "I asked a friend to come to the underground parking, let’s head to the parking lot first."

Carter nodded, "Alright, good idea."

Moira Young sighed beside them, "Heath, can we not just leave like this, especially without your parents knowing, it’ll easily cause conflict."

"What conflict? No matter what, they can’t restrict my personal freedom! Silly Moira, don’t overthink it. Once we’re out of this hospital, no one will know we exist." Heath began analyzing for Moira, "I’ll just call my mom later, it’s not like I’m disappearing into thin air. Think about it, after leaving, I can hide away, recuperate well and do whatever I want, instead of being watched at the hospital every day, isn’t that better?"

"You recover faster with a happy mood, doesn’t that make sense?"

Moira was originally a hundred percent against it, but hearing Heath’s reasoning, suddenly found it logical, and inexplicably didn’t stop him.

Heath nodded with satisfaction, then gave Moira a glance, "Today’s my day to escape, let’s get wild!"

Moira found it amusing but contained herself, maintaining a serious expression.

Heath imitated a cartoon character continually raising his eyebrows, making Carter feel disgusted, "Bro, can’t you act normal like me?"

Heath glared at him, excitedly declaring, "Let’s go—!"

But just as he took a few steps, his leg suddenly gave way, and he fell flat on the ground.

"Heath!" Moira Young and Carter Porter rushed to help him, genuinely frightened.

Heath waved them off nonchalantly, "I’m fine, just not used to walking after days in bed."

"It’ll be fine with practice... It’ll be fine..." Heath said, unsure in tone, which Moira Young and Carter Porter failed to notice in his expression.

The words seemed intended for himself.

Ever since his leg had surgery, complications arose post-operation. Though Heath’s parents assured him it was nothing serious, Heath was clearer than anyone on the condition of his leg.

Maybe...

Walking might not be possible in the future...

Pain and sadness flickered across Heath’s eyes but vanished quickly, then he continued smiling, "Let’s hurry or it’ll be troublesome if the escape fails!"

Heath casually shook off Moira Young and Carter Porter’s hands. He found a new resolve that he’d definitely show Moira Young his leg was fine, no matter what.

"Those few steps getting out of bed were fine, why’d you fall just like that? Are you really okay?" Carter asked.

Heath retorted, impatiently, "You idiot, a man never says he can’t!"

Carter and Heath suddenly shared a wicked grin.

Moira Young awkwardly stood, half understanding.

Heath zipped the jacket up, practically covering half of his face, then Carter and Moira escorted him to the underground parking.

Heath’s friend seemed to enjoy racing as well, arriving quickly and already waiting in the underground garage.

As Heath and Carter climbed into the car, Moira suddenly sensed something was amiss. She checked herself and realized her bag was missing.

Moira retraced her steps and figured she left it on the bed when Heath fell. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Her phone was inside, she definitely had to retrieve it.

"Moira, get in the car!" Heath shouted when he saw her not moving.

"I left my bag upstairs, I need to go back and get it." Moira prepared to head back.

Heath wanted to suggest Carter go back for her as it might be safer, but Moira was too quick, disappearing before he could finish briefing Carter.

Calculating the time, Heath figured she wouldn’t run into his mom and didn’t give it much thought, waiting in the car.

Moira hurried back to the ward, and as soon as she entered, she saw Heath’s mom rummaging through her bag.

Moira petrified, uncertain whether to advance or retreat. His mom pulled out Moira’s phone, about to open it.

Moira instinctively stopped her, "Auntie!"

His mom turned, her expression darkening upon seeing Moira, "I thought it belonged to Kiki, turns out it’s yours?"

"I... I’ll grab my things and leave..." Moira felt a bit intimidated, she stepped forward to take her bag, then cautiously reclaimed her phone from Heath’s mom’s hand.

"Auntie, I’ll be going..." Moira bit her lip, gearing to dash off.

"Stop!" His mom wasn’t foolish, there was no way she’d let her leave!

"Tell me, where’s Heath?" She found him missing upon return, initially thinking he went to the bathroom, but he wasn’t there either. Seeing Moira, understanding dawned.

Moira wavered, shaking her head. She certainly wouldn’t spill Heath and Carter’s scheme...

"Did you incite Heath’s discharge? Did you!" His mom frowned, her disdain for Moira deeply rooted.

Moira was startled by her attitude, feeling wronged yet unable to explain, knowing she did partake in Heath’s discharge.

"Are you mute? I’m asking you!" His mom was impatient and blunt, speaking harshly. Seeing Moira like chewy candy, unfazed by scolding and still unresponsive, she grew increasingly annoyed.
