Chapter 146: Chapter 146: Entertainer

China.

Aleridia.

Since Morton needed to spend a few more days at home with his parents, only Heath Sterling, Carter Porter, and Moira Young returned. They didn’t bring much when they went, but they carried back loads of stuff.

They first dropped Moira Young home, ensuring she was safe before the remaining two headed home themselves.

Moira Young had lots of fun over the past few days, but she was also quite tired. She preferred being physically exhausted over constantly thinking about those damned people every day.

She knelt on the ground to unpack, and when she took the books out of her suitcase, a peace charm from Clearwater Shrine fell out, which she accidentally stepped on.

She didn’t know what had gotten into her the previous days, feeling inseparable from this peace charm, but now she thought she must have been possessed to even get one, especially for Julian Sinclair.

Moira Young picked it up and promptly tossed it aside.

After tidying up, she wearily washed up and went to sleep.

She woke up at noon the next day.

Moira Young remembered she had class today, so she rushed to school. Luckily, she wasn’t late, and fortunately, it wasn’t her homeroom teacher’s class today.

Otherwise, missing so many days, she would be in big trouble.

After a while in class, Heath Sterling sent a text asking if Moira Young had made it to class.

Moira thought Heath must be exhausted, as he not only handled his own suitcase yesterday but also took care of hers, so she texted back telling him to get some more sleep.

But it wasn’t long before Heath Sterling appeared in front of her, looking sleepy.

"Someone called me today, claiming to be a manager from some entertainment company and wanting me to join as a talent," Heath said nonchalantly, yawning. "Moira, do you want to give it a try?"

"Was it someone we met at the amusement park that day?" Moira Young asked.

"Now that you mention it, I think so, but I really can’t remember the name."

"I don’t want to be a celebrity," Moira Young said plainly; she didn’t enjoy being in the spotlight.

Heath yawned again, "I want to give it a try. Won’t you join me?"

"How did they get your number?"

"He said he saw me on the sports channel. I think he wasn’t lying. After all, with a face as handsome as mine, you see it once and it’s unforgettable," Heath raised an eyebrow, completely smug.

"If you want to go, then go," Moira Young chuckled.

"That’s not enough; we should go together. If not, then I’m not going," Heath playfully foisted himself onto Moira, "Please come with me, you might even like it there. We’re just trying it out anyway, not taking it seriously as a career."

"Moira, just imagine what it feels like to be idolized, to have everyone at your beck and call!" Heath was already lost in his fantasy of becoming famous.

"Heath, you’re a national-level racer. You’ll go on to compete in international races representing Chinese racers—you don’t really need to become a star, it might interfere with your racing career," Moira analyzed carefully for him, "At the moment, you love racing the most and you’re doing an amazing job, which has already earned you the admiration and envy of many."

Heath’s eyes shifted playfully, and he asked with a grin, "So are you envious of me, or impressed? Or is it something else?"

"I really admire your accomplishments at our age; achieving things others wouldn’t even dare to dream of," Moira’s words were heartfelt, and she genuinely thought highly of Heath.

Class was dismissed.

Carter Porter appeared out of nowhere, clapping Heath on the shoulder, and said to Moira, "Let’s go eat together!"

Moira packed her things, "Sure, what should we eat?"

"Let’s have roast duck, I’ve been craving it," Heath suggested, but honestly, he didn’t care what they ate as long as they were together.

"Roast duck sounds great! You’re treating!" Carter jumped in.

Heath rolled his eyes, "Fine, I’ll treat."

"I’ll treat instead," Moira offered, remembering she owed Heath a meal.

Heath didn’t refuse, raising an eyebrow.

At the restaurant, each of the three ordered whatever they liked as usual.

While waiting for the food, Carter became curious and asked Heath, "What did the agent who called yesterday say? How did you reply? Are you going?"

Heath instinctively glanced at Moira, and Carter followed suit.

"I haven’t decided yet."

"Being an artist is great! You can make so much money just by acting in a drama. Heath, with your looks, it’d be a waste not to be a celebrity." After saying this, Carter glanced at Moira again and sighed, "Both of you are suited for stardom, while I’ll be stuck quietly toiling away..."

"Moira, you should go with Heath. You can look out for each other since it’s just for fun anyway."

Heath initially wasn’t too interested in being a celebrity, but recently he’s been feeling like he has the potential to be one. Otherwise, such an exquisite face would be wasted.

Moira was quite hesitant; she hadn’t expected even Carter to suggest she go.

But was she really suited for this industry...

"Don’t hesitate! If I had the looks, I’d definitely go with Heath."

Moira suddenly felt that becoming a celebrity might be a good way to establish herself in Aleridia. Even though she had some money in the bank, it didn’t guarantee lifelong financial security.

More importantly, she needed something to keep herself busy.

"Alright, I’ll go with you," Moira finally agreed.

Heath was excited to the point of almost cheering, "Three o’clock tomorrow afternoon, perfect since it’s Saturday. I’ll pick you up, and we’ll go together."

"What about me? Consider taking me along?" Carter nudged closer.

Heath jabbed him with an elbow, "You? You’re only fit to stay home and play with your Marvel heroes."

After a bit, the roast duck was served. Though it wasn’t the first time Moira had eaten it, it had been so long she almost forgot the taste.

Tasting it again, it felt quite different than before, though she couldn’t pinpoint exactly why.

After the meal, Heath walked Moira home and reiterated the plan to pick her up for the interview the next afternoon.

Moira nodded repeatedly, her smile full of helplessness, "I know, I know..."

Hearing her confirmation, Heath finally nodded in satisfaction and left.

The next day.

Moira didn’t put on any makeup, wearing the same style of clothes as usual. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

When Heath came to pick her up, he was dressed in very trendy clothes and shoes, reportedly costing up to four hundred thousand now.

Moira had always admired Heath’s style, always looking so cool and handsome. It’d be hard for any girl to tear their eyes away.

Heath was indeed suited for being a celebrity. Among the current young male artists, there really wasn’t anyone who looked better than Heath.

When they reached the entertainment company’s entrance, Heath’s car was so flashy that it turned quite a few heads their way.
