Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 108: Falling Into the Water
"You got drunk and fell asleep." Julian Sinclair took the thick coat Mrs. Miller handed him, "Are you full?"
Moira Young nodded numbly and finished the milk in her cup.
Julian Sinclair helped her put on the coat, "I’ll take you home."
On the way, Moira Young’s head still felt heavy. She dozed off for a bit more, and Julian Sinclair only woke her up when they reached Arden University’s gate.
"I don’t have any classes this afternoon. My class ends at eleven thirty in the morning. Are you coming to pick me up?" Moira Young was just about to get out of the car, but Julian Sinclair pulled her back and zipped up her coat for her.
"Okay."
Moira Young never thought that Julian Sinclair zipping up her coat was a heartwarming gesture. She felt it was just the norm, but now a warm current flowed through her heart, improving her mood significantly.
"I’m off to class." The smile on Moira Young’s lips was hard to hide. She felt a little shy, and turned to run into the school. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Because she arrived a bit early, the classroom was still empty.
Moira Young found a pile of books on her desk. On closer inspection, they were the books she had moved to Heath Sterling’s house earlier.
She was a bit startled; Heath Sterling delivered them so early? Where is he?
"Stop looking, Heath Sterling has already left." A cool-looking girl chewing gum appeared at the classroom door, leaning against the door frame with sharp eyes.
Moira Young felt she looked familiar, like she’d seen her somewhere before. It took a while for her to remember this was Cora Linton, who had caused her trouble in her first class when school started.
Moira Young pretended not to see her and sat down to organize her books.
There was no one else behind Cora Linton, just her alone.
She walked into the classroom, "When Heath Sterling left just now, he was in a bad mood. I asked him why, but he wouldn’t say. Do you know?"
Moira Young refused to answer.
"Never mind. Heath Sterling asked me to tell you to wait by the pond at noon." Cora Linton kicked Moira Young’s desk, "Don’t be late."
After saying that, she took out the gum from her mouth and stuck it on Moira Young’s book, her tone sarcastic, "A gift for you."
Moira Young was shocked by the gesture. Cora Linton was such a beautiful girl, dressed stylishly and coolly too. Even if she was the type to just get by like Heath Sterling, she didn’t expect her to do something so uncivilized...
After Cora Linton left, Moira Young scrunched up her face in disgust.
Really... so gross...
She took out a tissue, mustered a lot of courage, and finally wrapped the gum with the tissue and threw it away.
The bell for class rang shortly after, but the number of students in the classroom was pitifully few.
Today was the homeroom teacher’s class, yet so many dared to skip. Moira Young was worried for them.
After sternly calling the roll, the homeroom teacher found at least half didn’t respond and lost his temper, "Everyone here, listen up. Pass my message to your roommates: how long have you just started, and you’re already skipping classes like others? Do you still want credits? Do you still want to graduate?"
"From now on, because of this group that didn’t attend class, none of you are allowed to take leave for a month!"
"Don’t tell me your brother is getting married or your sister is having a baby; it won’t work! No exceptions!"
The students sighed and groaned in protest, though none dared to speak out and could only hang their heads in defeat.
Moira Young sat dumbfounded in the back corner, staring at the homeroom teacher. Why at this point could they not take leave...
She had to go to Vesperia...
Because of this, Moira Young couldn’t concentrate at all during the morning classes. All she thought about was finding a reason to ask the homeroom teacher for leave. Most importantly, Julian Sinclair reminded her about it this morning; she couldn’t mess up now...
The morning classes ended quickly; it was already eleven thirty.
Moira Young discreetly followed the homeroom teacher until he went into his office, and, seeing no one else around, knocked, "Sir, this is Moira Young."
"Come in."
She pushed the door open, walked to the desk, "Sir... I..."
"What is it?" The homeroom teacher had a good impression of Moira Young, a quiet and good student. Although he had learned at the start of the school year that she hadn’t gotten in with her grades, she normally took her classes seriously, so he was still fond of her.
"Sir, I have to go to Vesperia this Friday, so I’d like to request leave..." Moira Young bit her lower lip, her heart pounding.
"Didn’t I just say in class? No leaves for any reason." The teacher put away his materials, preparing to eat, "Just started and already thinking of going abroad for fun? Is your mind on studying?"
"Enough, no exceptions." The homeroom teacher didn’t give Moira Young a chance to speak, leaving directly.
Moira Young stood there, disheartened, her little mouth pouting, feeling like crying.
She thought of waiting for him to finish lunch and coming back; maybe then she’d persuade him to agree.
After a while, she suddenly remembered Cora Linton had said in the morning that Heath Sterling asked to meet at the pond at twelve. She frowned, how could she forget that!
It was already eleven fifty-five, and Moira Young hurriedly ran all the way to the pond.
The pond area was a popular dating spot, but only at night because of the beautiful little lights. During the day, few people came here.
Out of breath, Moira Young finally reached the spot, her legs a bit weak from the long run, having no regular exercise.
"You’re late." Cora Linton appeared out of nowhere.
Moira Young glanced behind her, "Where’s Heath Sterling?"
"Heath Sterling? How should I know?" Cora Linton approached, exuding a chilling aura.
"Did you trick me to come here? What do you want?" Moira Young’s pretty eyes filled with hostility. Faced with Cora Linton’s advancing step, she instinctively stepped back, trying to maintain a safe distance.
"Guess—" Cora Linton tilted her head, suddenly grinning widely, then tried to slap Moira Young.
Moira Young immediately resisted, but didn’t expect Cora Linton to be much stronger.
"Smack!" A fierce slap landed on Moira Young’s cheek, burning hot! Tears instantly sprang from the pain and humiliation. She whipped her head back, wanting to return the slap, but—
Just then, Cora Linton pushed her hard!
Moira Young was pushed into the pond!
The cold, dark feeling engulfed her, the pond water like a demon viciously covering her nose and mouth, her brain felt shattered.
She couldn’t swim!
Moira Young struggled to call for help, gulped down several mouthfuls of water, feeling helpless and desperate!
"Help—someone fell into the water!" Cora Linton shouted hypocritically.
"Someone help—the water—" she called.
As Moira Young’s consciousness blurred, feeling herself close to death and too weak to struggle, suddenly a force pulled her out.
When she woke up, there were people gathered around; seeing she was alright, they dispersed.
Except for Cora Linton, who crossed her arms, smugly said, "This is just a small lesson. I can kill you in fifty ways and walk away clean. Stay away from Heath Sterling, or you’ll die an ugly death."
With that, she turned and left.
Moira Young stared blankly at the pond where she had just fallen in, her drenched hair still dripping water. Her eyes empty, her thoughts cold.
Slowly, she sat up. Whether from the cold or fear, she was trembling all over.
Moira Young wrapped her arms around herself, gradually clearing her mind. Her nose tingled, and tears flowed down along with the water on her body.
Only the tears were warm; everything else was cold.
Moira Young kept telling herself to be strong. She feared not Cora Linton, but another close brush with death.
