Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Police Station

Mrs. Sterling suddenly thought of something, clapped her hands as if she had uncovered a secret: "Officer, it must have been Julian Sinclair who adopted her. When Arthur Whitman’s scandal broke, it was Julian Sinclair who leaked it, so he must be using her."

The last sentence struck deep pain in Moira Young’s heart. Her eyes reddened, and she said to Mrs. Sterling, "I respect you as an elder, and as Heath Sterling’s mother, so I don’t want to tell the police that it was you who put the wallet into my bag. I don’t know why you keep coming after me. I’ve explained my relationship with Heath as much as I could—"

"Mom?" Heath’s voice came from behind, looking incredulously at the two in front of him.

The girl who saw Moira Young in a store earlier had called Heath, and Heath figured Moira must have gone to the second store. Upon arrival, he realized they’d been taken to the police station.

"Heath, you’re here just in time, take a good look at her true colors." Mrs. Sterling didn’t care how Heath got there; she pulled him over and pointed at the bag Moira Young was carrying, "Heath, this bag she’s got, didn’t you buy it for her?"

Heath looked at his mother in confusion, "What are you talking about!"

"Don’t pretend. Mom is doing this for your own good, so you could see through her sooner. Think carefully, ever since it was revealed she’s Arthur Whitman’s daughter, hasn’t she been constantly clinging to you? When you eat out, isn’t it you who pays? When you shop, isn’t it you who pays?"

Mrs. Sterling whispered in his ear, "Silly child, think about it. She’s living with the Sinclair family, you can’t afford to support her!"

"Are you a witness?" The officer didn’t want to listen to them anymore.

"I’m not." Heath stated firmly, "I do not believe Moira Young would steal anything, nor do I believe my mom would deliberately harm others."

Moira Young lowered her head, feeling very uncomfortable. She agreed to meet with Mrs. Sterling today because she didn’t want to involve Heath, yet the situation had developed into such a state.

"Alright, since you all know each other, discuss settling this privately then."

"Thank you, Officer." Heath bowed slightly, a serious expression on his face.

"No!" Mrs. Sterling immediately intervened, her face turning sour, her tone unpleasant, "I don’t agree to settle privately."

"What exactly do you want to do?" Heath knew his mother’s temper well; although she was a dignified Mrs. Sterling, she always carried a touch of the commoner, which he disliked the most.

The most crucial part was that she was targeting Moira Young, so Heath was even more unwilling.

"Heath, am I your mother or is she your mother? Why are you siding with outsiders?" Mrs. Sterling said through gritted teeth, frustrated beyond belief.

Heath was getting impatient, "Mom, can’t you watch your words and the occasion?"

Mrs. Sterling looked in disbelief, almost on the edge of tears, "Are you disgusted with your mother... for the sake of... for the sake of an outsider you’re being harsh on your mother here..."

"She’s my friend. Why do you have to make things difficult for her?"

"Stop arguing, please." Moira Young stood up from her seat, unable to listen any longer. The mother and son were quarreling non-stop because of her, and Heath wedged in the middle must have been in pain far beyond her imagination.

She didn’t want to involve others because of her own issues.

"Would acknowledging that I stole the wallet make you happy?" Moira Young said emotionlessly as she looked at Mrs. Sterling. There was a tsunami within her heart as she stood there steadfastly without any unnecessary actions.

In fact, ultimately, Moira Young was willing to put the thief’s hat on herself for Heath’s sake. She felt apologetic toward him for returning to the Sinclair family while trying to accept him.

"If that’s the case, then I’m willing to admit, the wallet is—"

"Miss, you don’t need to be soft-hearted, because putting on this hat would be a lifelong thing." Suddenly, Butler Liu appeared, approaching respectfully, slightly bowing, "The young master instructed me to come and take you back."

Moira Young stared dumbfounded at Butler Liu; how... how did Julian Sinclair get involved again...

"I remember you, you’re the butler by Julian Sinclair’s side, right?" Mrs. Sterling was surprised at Butler Liu’s arrival.

She turned to look at Heath, her eyes betraying a sense of being kept in the dark.

"Mrs. Sterling, Mr. Sterling typically addresses our young master as Seven." Butler Liu’s expression remained unchanged, even slightly smiling. But his words were like a gunshot, hitting the mark.

Mrs. Sterling felt embarrassed. Two years ago, she had already clearly defined Julian Sinclair’s status, someone even Mr. Sterling might not have the chance to meet, because he’s not qualified.

"Heath, what’s really going on?" Mrs. Sterling pulled Heath over, asking in a whisper. She thought Heath must know something.

"Don’t ask! Now that things have gotten so ugly, have you thought about my dad’s reputation if it gets out?" Heath felt increasingly embarrassed, his tone and voice involuntarily rising a bit, his face looking sour.

"What do you mean by that? Do you think your mother deliberately framed her?" Mrs. Sterling looked at her son in shock, feeling betrayed by her own flesh and blood, who was speaking for someone else!

"I don’t want to know what’s going on. Anyway, I believe Moira wouldn’t steal anything. She’s not that kind of person, and she has no reason to steal anything. Mom, you’re the one who asked Moira to come out, right? Do you think I don’t know your intentions?"

Heath’s face lost all its usual sunshine and unruliness, replaced instead by shadows, "Let’s go home, stop embarrassing yourself."

Mrs. Sterling was indeed angered, her chest heaving as she struggled to breathe, her legs weak nearly causing her to fall, fortunately, Heath supported her.

Seeing this, Moira Young instinctively wanted to go forward to help but managed to control herself.

"Miss, the young master is still waiting at the entrance." Butler Liu had no interest in watching Mrs. Sterling faint and bent down to whisper in Moira Young’s ear.

Moira Young nodded: "Okay, I’ll go out now."

Feeling uneasy about Heath’s situation, as he surely would face reproach when returning home, she glanced at him worriedly but couldn’t say anything. She could only quietly walk past him.

After exiting the police station with Butler Liu, they crossed the street to see Julian Sinclair’s car. Butler Liu opened the car door for her to get in.

The more Moira Young thought about it, the more uncomfortable she felt, especially after seeing Julian Sinclair. She almost couldn’t hold back her tears, but she tried her best to suppress her sadness, proving to him that she’d become independent and strong since leaving his side.

Julian Sinclair sat in the car, looking at Moira Young, who kept her head down and remained silent. A flash of murderous intent crossed his gaze.

Two years ago, the Sterling family bullied Moira, and now they were targeting her again. He really didn’t want to let them off anymore.

"Come here." Julian Sinclair extended his hand.

Moira Young had been maintaining a strong front, but upon hearing Julian Sinclair’s voice, she couldn’t hold it any longer. She wanted to throw caution aside and rush into his arms to pour out her grievances.

"Come." Julian Sinclair took her hand, gently pulling her to his side, "Why foolishly allow yourself to be bullied?"

"Don’t forget, I’ll always be behind you, so no matter what happens, you don’t need to endure silently."
