Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Hostility

Wu Yue nodded seriously. "It’s true."

’Even though I don’t recognize it, the system would never be wrong.’

"You must be Yue." As they were talking, an unfamiliar female suddenly walked over, looking at Wu Yue with an expression of utter contempt.

Wu Yue: "..."

’Who is this lady? Do I know you?’

She stood up and smiled faintly at the female, who looked a bit more delicate than the others. "Hello, I’m Wu Yue."

The female sneered. "A female like you... tsk, tsk. If it weren’t for that Beast Crystal, you never would have been able to join the great Snow Tiger Tribe.

It’s bad enough you can’t gather, but you’re even here tricking your fellow tribe members."

Her tone was severe. "You’re not a witch, yet you dare to teach the tribe members about herbs? That’s blasphemy against the great witch and the Beast God."

Perhaps because the female’s voice was so loud, everyone gathering nearby heard her, and the looks they gave Wu Yue turned hostile.

Beside her, Qingcao still clutched the stalk of hemostatic grass, her expression awkward.

Wu Yue pressed her lips together. As she met the gazes of those around her, her eyes darkened slightly.

’I know if I don’t say something right now, this charge of blasphemy against the witch and the Beast God will stick.’

’In an age like this, if I’m branded with such a crime, I’ll truly become a public enemy.’

’Forget the Snow Tiger Tribe; there probably won’t be a place for me on the entire continent.’

At this thought, her mind seemed to clear in an instant, and her gaze grew serious as she looked at the female who had just spoken.

"I may not be the great witch, and neither is my Amu, but it’s true that this hemostatic grass can stop bleeding."

The female’s unruly eyebrows shot up, and she opened her mouth to retort, but Wu Yue quickly cut her off. "My Amu may not be a witch, but she studied at a witch’s side. Everyone in my former tribe knows this. What’s more, I swear to the Beast God that everything I’ve said is true."

Wu Yue’s final words shocked and convinced the surrounding Beastmen more than anything else she had said.

The Beast God was just and stern; if this female named Yue was lying, she would surely be punished.

But now, she was still standing there, perfectly fine...

After a moment of shock, the expression of the female standing opposite Wu Yue twisted with resentment. "Since you swore to the Beast God, I’ll let it go this time."

With that, she turned and left, taking the few females behind her with her.

Seeing that the matter was resolved, the surrounding tribe members also dispersed and went back to their gathering.

Leaving only a bewildered Wu Yue and an awkward-looking Qingcao.

"Qingcao, who was that female just now?"

She tried to recall everything that had happened since she came to the Snow Tiger Tribe; she had basically spent the entire time in her cave, recovering from her illness.

She had never even seen that female before, yet the other woman was clearly hostile toward her.

Qingcao breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Yue was still talking to her. "That’s the Clan Leader’s child. Yue, did you offend her somehow?"

Wu Yue shook her head. "That’s what I can’t figure out. I’ve never seen her before."

Also...

Wu Yue looked at Qingcao. "Is she a Beastman, too?"

Qingcao shook her head in confusion. "She’s a Pure Human. Wu Yue, couldn’t you tell?"

Wu Yue’s heart tightened, and she gave a dry laugh. "My old tribe only had Pure Humans, so I’m not very familiar with Beastmen and Half beastmen."
