"What?" Garran asked. Are you not satisfied?"
"Satisfied? This skill is incredible!"
The vendor remained silent. Reidar was new to the apocalypse, since it came around a year ago, but he was already level 557, which also meant he didn't know quite a lot of things, and everything must have appeared incredible to him.
The truth was that the skills and gear weren't great at all. Survivors at this level had far better equipment and abilities on other planets under the Allied Worlds' control.
That was because they crafted their own items and skills, tailored to their fighting style. Reidar didn't have the profession levels to do the same. Even if he did, crafting was still new on Earth, and knowledge about it was scarce. Much of it hadn't been shared—or even discovered yet.
Though for Reidar, the skill was OP. It was just that he didn't really like undead summons. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"I'm glad you like it, but I should remind you—you really need to work on your proficiencies."
The vendor was reading something.
"Did you open my status?"
"I am," the man said. "I noticed that you've managed to increase your professions a little since the last time we met, which is good progress, but the proficiencies seem to be kind of stuck at their current levels and aren't advancing much. When I look at your current status, I can see that you only have two main proficiencies at the moment, which are Advanced Spellcraft Mastery, sitting at 33% completion, and Warrior's Sovereignty, at 41% completion."
He paused. "This raises a question that I have to ask: How did you even manage to get a melee fighter proficiency like Warrior's Sovereignty if your build is that of a mage?"
Reidar shrugged. "I guess it was because of my early days."
The vendor nodded in acknowledgment. "The main problem I'm seeing here is that you only have two proficiencies in total. Well, to be more precise, you have two additional proficiencies that are related to the Velia Region, but those are limited in scope and only work when you're actually within that region. Given your current situation, you should consider investing in some proficiency books so that you can get some new and more broadly applicable proficiencies."
He paused.
"Plus, I should mention that there's another issue with your skills that I've seen. When I look at your skill list, I can see that almost all of them are sitting at a proficiency level of 99%. This is concerning because you have brought none of them up to a 100% proficiency level yet. I'm curious to know why."
"It's not like I didn't try," Reidar said. "It's just that they do not move from 99%."
"That means you are using too many skills. Try using one at a time."
Reidar nodded. "I will… It's just that I didn't have much time until now." The vendor sighed hearing that.
"That's because you are leveling up at an excessively rapid pace. It is like being directly appointed as a knight without having gone through the traditional, step-by-step training regimen that builds a proper foundation. This advancement has disturbed and thwarted your fundamentals to some extent."
Reidar sighed.
"I will take care of this as soon as possible. For now, I have stuff to do, and I can't focus on this."
"I warned you, though… As you are right now, you are very unbalanced."
"I will keep this in mind," Reidar said. Then he learned the skill and wore the new equipment.
The Pyroclasm set replaced his Ignis equipment piece by piece, and with each item, he felt the attribute bonuses stack. His A.C.U.M.E.N. increased, pushing his mana pool higher, while his resistances shifted to favor fire-element protection.
When he finished, he checked his status.1
