Supreme Summoner Overlord: Rise of the Endless Legion-Chapter 424: The new gear (1)

Four days passed.

Reidar stayed hidden in the forest, moving his camp twice since more often than not he saw church patrols around or changing their patrolling routes.

The Vorathid Sky-Hunters had been working non-stop, scouting the area, tracking monster movements, and keeping an eye on the church's activities in Sweetwater.

The vendor delivered as promised.

On the morning of the fourth day—seven days since arriving in Sweetwater—Reidar returned to the vendor. He stood in the back room of the store, examining the gear and skills the Thalassari had managed to acquire.

"This is what I could find," Garran said, pointing at the equipment laid out on a wooden table. "It wasn't easy. The internal market had very few options at your level, and most of what I found came from private sellers who took some convincing."

Reidar looked at the items. Despite what Garran said, he got his hands on a set called the Pyroclasm set, and it was a full collection that included a wand, crown, robes, boots, gloves, walking shoes, vambraces, a cloak, a belt, an amulet, and two rings.

<How the hell did he find a complete set if it was so hard? Maybe I should reevaluate his skills.>

Finding individual pieces of high-tier equipment was difficult enough, but finding a matching set with synergizing bonuses was almost impossible at this level, based on what the guy said. The vendor must have pulled many favors to find this, and of course, the survival points Reidar gave him must have been partly used to bribe people.

"A set," Reidar said. "I wasn't expecting that."

"Neither was I," Garran said. "The previous owner was a mage who died recently. His party sold the gear to cover its debts. It was sitting in an auction house on Vel'Th—let's just say a planet—for three years because no one could afford the asking price."

Reidar picked up the wand and examined it. The item was made of a dark metal, and fire-element runes or something like that were carved along its length.

"There's a problem," Reidar said. "This is a hybrid set."

Garran nodded. "I know. It's designed for a summoner-mage build, which means it sits between a pure mage and a summoner. The bonuses favor direct damage spells and elemental manipulation rather than summon enhancement, but there are also some passive skills that favor summons."

Reidar frowned. A pure summoner set would have offered bonuses to summon strength, summon duration, and mana efficiency for summoning skills. This set gave him different bonuses, among which was elemental resistance, and while those skills were useful, they weren't what he needed most.

"The fire resistance is good," Garran said. "The set provides excellent protection against heat- and flame-based attacks. It might save your life one day."

"I doubt it would work against monsters here. Besides, fire isn't the only element out there, but I guess having it is better than not having it. "

Still, Reidar couldn't afford to be picky. The Pyroclasm set was several tiers higher than his current Ignis equipment, and even if the bonuses weren't perfectly optimized for his build, the raw stat increases alone would make a significant difference.

"I'll take it," Reidar said. "What about the skills?"

There, Garran grimaced and shifted his weight from one foot to the other.

"I found just one."

"One?" Reidar repeated in disbelief.

"Well… yes… I told you. Finding equipment for your level isn't straightforward. We were lucky with the set, but few summoners are willing to share their skills. What I got was among the weakest skills from the guy I bought the scroll from, and even so, most of the money you gave me went to this skill alone."

"Geez, the weakest skill cost almost all my survival points? What does the strong stuff run for—a kidney and my firstborn?"

The vendor nodded for the price but ignored Reidar's comment, handing Reidar the scroll to learn the skill.
