Supreme Paragon Reborn: Humanity's Rise To Galactic Supremacy-Chapter 357: Clash Of Behemoths
The Indomitable Alliance had reached the semifinals of the tournament. However, one important question remained: would the Golden Vanguard or the Sacred Order face them in the next round?
Whoever it might be, it was sure to be a grueling battle for Michael’s faction. Both had amassed such vast histories that they commanded tens of thousands of members throughout the solar system.
The saving grace, at least, was that due to their size and the important functions they held across the system, calling all of their members back to Earth just to take part in the tournament was virtually impossible.
At least the Indomitable Alliance wouldn’t clash with them at full power.
Michael rested on a couch with Scarlett and Isabella, who were exhausted from the earlier training as they eagerly observed the clash between the two behemoths of factions.
"Brother?" Scarlett tugged at his attire weakly. "Who do you want to win? You would be facing them in the semifinals after all."
Michael’s eyes remained glued to the screen as he answered.
"Both of them would be very hard to defeat. The Golden Vanguard possesses many Absolute Lords, each one not to be trifled with. Fortunately, their Supreme Lords seem too busy to take part in the tournament, so there is that."
He paused briefly.
"Honestly, part of me wishes the Sacred Order would win. But since Supreme Lord Nicole is in their ranks, I would rather avoid a real confrontation with her. Not only because I fail to see a way to beat her, but also because we... I owe her a lot. Fighting with the intent to kill someone close isn’t a pleasant feeling."
Suddenly, Isabella’s motherly instincts flared.
"Hmm? Someone close? Now that is an intriguing way to describe the most famous Lord there is..."
Isabella’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly in suspicion.
"Is there more to it?"
Michael shook his head. "Not really."
Evidently, his mother wasn’t convinced.
"Still, I wish to meet her someday. Do you think that it will be possible?"
Michael’s lips parted, about to refuse the very idea. Being a Supreme Lord, Nicole was naturally incredibly busy...
But then realization hit him. Originally, Michael lost his mother long before she was able to meet the woman he almost had a child with.
It could be reasoned that it was all in the past. Yet it felt wrong on a deeply personal level for the two to never make contact.
"I will invite her to check on the progress of our faction. That will be your chance." He smiled. "Why? Could it be that you are her fan?"
Truthfully, Isabella had simply been teasing her son, nothing more. Yet the fact that he was actually ready to humor her filled her with a warm feeling.
"I was just curious, nothing more." She said, dropping the matter.
Back at the clash between the Golden Vanguard and the Sacred Order, things seemed to have reached boiling point.
Supreme Lord Nicole led the frontline, battling the Absolute Lord sisters Eliza and Elina, in addition to one of Victoria’s cousins, Freya, of the same realm as the two.
What’s more, the three Absolute Lords weren’t alone, accompanied by many other troops, all from the Lord realm.
Anyone weaker than a Radiant Lord was abstaining from entering the central clash simply because their presence wouldn’t change a single thing.
Met with such fearsome resistance, no one would have blamed Nicole if she were to get overwhelmed.
Yet she didn’t. For that was the power of a Supreme Lord.
Regardless of how many bodies they threw her way, she remained unfazed. The Absolute Lords were barely able to dodge her most lethal attacks, while the weaker Lords who didn’t share their experience began to meet their demise one by one.
"Given how much people praise you, I thought they were exaggerating!" Elina bellowed with a smile. "You can color me surprised when I find out that they, in fact, have been underestimating you all this time!"
Eliza hissed. "If you have the strength to sing praises, spend it on fighting, not chatting!"
Amused, Nicole tilted her head to the side, her crimson hair dancing in the wind, her eyes seemingly peering into their very souls. The side of her cheek was smeared with a little blood, giving her a more eerie look.
Naturally, the blood wasn’t hers... She had yet to bleed during the entire clash.
Because of her otherworldly jade beauty paired with her dangerous aura, the live broadcast chat began to drift in its usual direction whenever she appeared on screen.
[Degenerate: Woof! Woof!]
[Girls Power: What the hell is wrong with you?! Can’t you keep it together in front of the opposite gender?! If not, go touch grass and talk to women!]
[Rational Thinker: I reckon talking to grass and touching women instead would be more insightful.]
[Lonely Philosopher: Grand Sage, your wisdom truly knows no bounds! Please enlighten this humble junior with thee foresight!]
Back at the grand battle, Nicole chose to humor the sister Lords. Her lips parted, speaking in a calm voice.
"I must say the same to you. Most would have lost their fighting spirit by now."
By all accounts and measures, the Sacred Order was on track to emerging victorious. The decision to not send any Supreme Lords to counter Nicole’s might was surely going to lead the Golden Vanguard to their first defeat.
However, that only held true if Nicole had, in fact, been appointed the leadership position.
Given that she was the strongest, everyone would have assumed that was the case...
Until Transcendent Lord Athena, a strikingly mesmerizing woman with golden hair and eyes, considered one of the most honorable members of the Sacred Order, met her match, leading to the end of the battle.
"What is the meaning of this?!" The usually cold personality of Eliza shattered for a few moments.
"If you were appointed the leader, your faction would have won!" She reasoned, eyes locked onto Nicole. "Why didn’t you take the role but instead assigned it to someone weaker than you?!"
Nicole giggled.
"I assure you there is no need to be overly dramatic. It wasn’t because I underestimated you or anything. It’s a simple favor I am doing for your leader... King Arthur."
Eliza narrowed her eyes. This was the first time she was hearing about this.
Sensing her confusion, Nicole elaborated.
"Let’s just say that he wished to see his granddaughter, Victoria, stand against you all."
She paused briefly.
"Not to mention, the end result of this whole tournament honestly doesn’t concern me in the slightest." A breathtaking yet menacing smile spread across her lips.
"Let’s not forget that this is a simple imitation of faction wars with no real death... Though don’t be fooled... I will not be going easy if we were to fight with real consequences." Nicole teased playfully, leaving the Lord sisters stunned in bewilderment.
With the conclusion of the battle, the Indomitable Alliance was set to face the Golden Vanguard in the semifinals. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Michael was left conflicted by the end result. On one hand, he wouldn’t have to worry about facing Nicole...
On the other, it meant he had to find a way to beat the Absolute Lords of the Golden Vanguard, all on the same level as Nemesis, who had been quite a challenging foe until the very end.
"Quite a predicament..." Michael mused out loud.
