Supreme Paragon Reborn: Humanity's Rise To Galactic Supremacy-Chapter 238: Second Haunting Memory Of A Supreme Paragon (5)
"Clever bastards." Michael’s voice was void of any emotions, his gaze sweeping across the whole meteor.
It was vast... enormous even. To the point, he was genuinely impressed that the aliens had managed to sneak it so close to humanity’s domain and remain undetected.
Unlike the meteors Michael had fought until now, this one was different. Buildings and proper facilities were erected as Gros’fag, regardless of their tier, were living peacefully, almost like they weren’t at war.
"This must be their main place of residence. Honestly, I wouldn’t be shocked if the entire race were living here. The meteor is large, after all." Michael mused, his steps steady.
It was partly luck and partly cleverness that he managed to follow the Titan to their base.
There hadn’t been enough time to call for reinforcements, and now, at the center of the Gros’fag’s domain, Michael quickly realized that all his means of communication had been severed.
He wouldn’t have it any other way.
Faster than a beat, he pounced, targeting the closest aliens his eyes landed on.
Boom!
In less than a second, his rampage had begun. Before initiating the attack, he made sure to consider how the enemy forces were dispersed, striking at the spot that would hurt them most.
"Enemy!"
"We have been found!"
"Don’t let the human get away with this!"
Cries and pleas echoed across the valley, but Michael paid them no attention amid his slaughter.
In the far distance, the strongest forces of the Gros’fag race were gathered, all observing the man with caution.
"Could this be the Emperor?" One of the Monarchs asked.
Until now, nobody had laid eyes on the Emperor and lived to tell the tale. It was a reasonable assumption, considering that no other human soldier would be confident enough to attack their base alone.
The Titan shook its head.
"No... At least I don’t think so."
Its monstrous gaze easily peered into Michael’s soul. No matter how much it studied the man, all it saw was a simple Peak Grandmaster, a human who had not yet reached the Lord realm.
However, that was by no means a reason for celebration. The very nature of the question arising in the Titan’s mind made that clear.
’What am I missing?’
No matter the angle from which it looked at him, the situation was bizarre. A simple Grandmaster following its trail? Attacking their base head-on? Not even bothering to call for reinforcements?
Another Monarch spoke.
"Certainly a trap... Almighty, please let me deal with this man!"
"..."
Momentarily the Titan was caught in a debate within itself.
If Michael’s appearance was a trap, then he surely had some kind of trump card. Perhaps he was acting as bait. But then why did no one sense any humans aside from him?
That was far from the only thing to worry about, as the Titan’s instincts were stirred on high alert.
A feral, raw energy coursed through its soul. Moving forward was a mistake... One misstep could end its reign.
Beings of such immense power never ignored their instincts. It was precisely those instincts that had allowed them to endure for so long.
Eventually the Almighty came to a decision.
"We can’t let the human massacre our kind."
Swoosh!
Faster than a heartbeat they moved, appearing before Michael.
The troops encircling Michael retreated slightly in response to their arrival. Despite their heavy wounds, they sneered, eager to witness the human’s downfall.
By now, Michael’s figure was obscured by the alien’s blood, yet his eyes blazed with determination as they locked onto the Titan and the Monarchs beside it.
A dry chuckle escaped his lips.
"I see... So you are the one."
Unfazed, the Titan lifted one of its four arms and with a single flick, caused a blast of powerful wind to sweep outward.
"I have put a barrier around the whole meteor."
The monster spoke.
"From now on, until my death, this veil will not lift. Whatever plan you may have prepared is meaningless. You are trapped here."
Michael didn’t respond, his lips curling into a horrifying smile.
Wordlessly, his figure blurred. Tensing his body to its limit, he pounced forward, eager to put an end to the Titan’s life.
"He is coming!"
The nearby lower tier aliens bellowed in fear. The Almighty had observed Michael and his movements for about an hour before arriving. During that time, Michael had slaughtered thousands. Now, just the sight of him advancing with a wide smile horrified them beyond belief.
"Pathetic."
But the Titan remained unimpressed. A single wave of its hand hurled Michael backward, the surrounding earth fracturing like a spiderweb. Thick smoke rose into the sky, cutting off the lower tier aliens’ view.
Slowly, as the dust settled, their faces drained, stunned by the effortless, devastating strike their leader had unleashed.
"All hail the Almighty!"
They chanted in unison, knees bent as they bowed in submission.
Yet their leader paid them no mind. Its central eye fixed on the man who had so foolishly come to attack them unprepared.
Michael’s body spasmed before growing limp, lying lifeless on the ground. A severe wound sliced through his neck, beheading him on the spot. His severed head stood beside it, eyes dimmed with no trace of life. A puddle of blood slowly spread beneath.
’Was this really it?’ The Titan tilted its head in wonder.
At that very moment, the one they had feared, whether a trap or the Emperor himself, had fallen by a single swing of the Titan’s arm, lying broken on the ground.
"I must have overestimated him..." The Titan sighed, gazing at the sky in dejection.
"Why did I bother putting up the barrier? It’ll take weeks to vanish, and I can’t control it..."
Somberly, the Almighty glanced at its subordinates.
"Looks like we were concerned for nothing. This isn’t the Emperor, just a foolish madman. Whatever goal he had has been for naught. Never mind the barrier, it may slow us down slightly, but it won’t stop us." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
The monster halted mid-speech, realizing the Monarchs weren’t paying attention.
"What is it?"
The question drew the Monarchs’ gazes. One of them blinked rapidly, extending a limb forward.
"Are humans... supposed to be able to do that?"
With a frown, the Almighty turned, searching for the human’s remains.
The beheaded head lay beside the puddle of blood, yet the body was nowhere near it. Instead, it had risen to its feet, standing before the Titan unfazed.
"...Huh?"
