"How could those people know our location?" Chu Lingjun asked, her expression puzzled.
They had used spatial teleportation to swiftly escape the World King Palace members. By all rights, even if their enemies were tracking them, they shouldn’t have been able to converge on this location with such precision.
Long Chen couldn’t figure it out either, but there was no time to ponder. The powerful presences were already drawing closer.
Long Chen and Chu Lingjun exchanged a silent glance. They simultaneously concealed their auras to avoid alerting the members of the World King Palace.
High above the mountain, several members of the World King Palace hovered in place.
The man at the Ninth Level of the War King Realm radiated an imposing aura, his eyes gleaming sharply. He was Shao Zirui, one of Liu Teng’s most capable subordinates.
He examined the Divine Sense Mark left by Liu Teng and found that it grew exceptionally bright upon reaching this location.
He gazed down at the mountain before them. "According to the mark, they must be hiding in this mountain."
Hearing this, the four World King Palace members behind him immediately fixed their gazes on the mountain. They all concentrated, trying to sense Long Chen and Chu Lingjun’s auras, but none of them could detect a thing. Even Shao Zirui came up empty-handed.
Shao Zirui’s gaze swept across the mountain as he shouted coldly, "Listen up! I’ll give you one chance.
"Come out and turn yourselves in, and maybe I’ll let you suffer a little less.
"Otherwise, the only path for you is death!
"And before you die, I will make your life a living hell—an existence of unbearable pain!"
His words thundered through the area. Startled birds burst from the forest, flying in all directions, yet there was still no sign of Long Chen or Chu Lingjun.
Shao Zirui’s eyes narrowed. "Search!" he ordered the four World King Palace members behind him. "Scour this entire mountain. You must find them!"
"Yes, sir!" At Shao Zirui’s command, the four members immediately responded and spread out, beginning to comb the mountain for any sign of Long Chen and Chu Lingjun.
Meanwhile, Long Chen and Chu Lingjun remained cautiously hidden, doing their utmost to avoid discovery. The situation was extremely unfavorable for them. Long Chen could no longer use Dragon Blood Boiling, and their opponents not only outnumbered them but were all powerful experts of the War King Realm. Worse, their leader was an expert at the Ninth Level of the War King Realm. If they were discovered, their chances of survival were slim.
Watching the figures circling overhead, Long Chen and Chu Lingjun crept stealthily in the opposite direction, remaining ever vigilant. Fortunately, their nimble movements and the cover of the dense forest kept them hidden for the time being.
When the thorough search yielded no results, Shao Zirui gradually lost his patience.
"Come back!" he commanded with a wave of his hand, recalling the other World King Palace members.
One of the men braced himself and reported, "Sir, we haven’t found any trace of the man and woman."
"Useless!" Shao Zirui snarled, his voice like ice as he shot them a fierce glare. "What good are you if you can’t even find two people?"
Hearing this, the four members hung their heads in silence, not daring to utter a single word.
Shao Zirui’s gaze turned frigid. "Activate the Fiery Fire Array!" he ordered the four. "We’ll burn this entire mountain to the ground. I refuse to believe they won’t show themselves then!"
At his command, the four members of the World King Palace immediately scattered, taking up positions around the mountain. Muttering incantations, they formed seals with their hands in unison. Several crimson Rune Inscriptions materialized before them.
From his position at the center, Shao Zirui waved his hand, projecting a massive Qi Force barrier that enveloped the entire mountain. With that done, Shao Zirui formed a sword finger and pointed it toward the sky. An array vortex immediately began to coalesce above. Seeing this, the four War King Realm members channeled all of their accumulated power into the vortex.
Shao Zirui slammed his palm down through the air and roared, "Fiery Fire Array, ignite!"
At his cry, a massive column of fire roared down toward the mountain, instantly filling the air with an acrid, burning scent. It descended like a great fire dragon, threatening to engulf the entire mountain.
