Chapter 158: Chapter 158: The Change of the Integral Pillar!

"He’s dead! He’s dead! That lingering ghost is finally dead!"

Su Miaoyu laughed heartily, ecstatic. After joining the Martial Ancestor, she had finally dealt with this thorn in her side after so long. She let out a long sigh of relief, feeling much lighter. Lately, she had felt a great deal of pressure because of Long Chen. She knew very well that if she didn’t deal with him promptly, endless troubles would befall her.

"Congratulations, Senior Sister Su!" the underling immediately offered upon seeing Su Miaoyu’s joy.

The other man, however, was dumbfounded.

What is going on?

He quickly realized they had misunderstood him. "You’ve got it wrong," he said immediately. "The one who died wasn’t Long Chen. It was the people we sent."

Hearing this, the laughter stopped abruptly.

Su Miaoyu’s expression froze. Her gloomy eyes, looking as if they could devour a person alive, fixed on the man. She asked in a low, dangerous voice, "What did you say?"

A chill ran down the man’s spine. A dreadful fear surged through his heart, terrifying him. He could only brace himself and repeat, "Long Chen... h-he’s not dead."

Su Miaoyu was furious.

Noticing her expression, the underling immediately shouted sternly, "You idiot, do you know what you’re saying? We sent three experts at the Ninth Layer of the War Ancestor Realm and five experts at the Fifth Layer of the War Ancestor Realm. Are you telling me they couldn’t handle a single Second-class Disciple?"

The man responded meekly, "When I got there, I only found their bodies. Long Chen was nowhere to be seen."

The underling was speechless, unsure what to say as he kept his eyes fixed on Su Miaoyu.

Her fists were clenched so tightly that her nails dug into her palms, but she seemed oblivious to the pain. It was a clear sign of how immense her rage was.

"Useless!" she cursed. "A bunch of useless trash!"

Su Miaoyu snapped at the underling, "Is this what you called a foolproof plan?"

"S-Senior Sister Su, I had no idea things would turn out this way," the underling stammered, so frightened he could barely speak properly.

Suddenly, an idea came to him, and he offered his analysis. "Senior Sister Su, in my opinion, the kid must have had help from a powerful expert! That’s how he managed to escape by a stroke of luck! Otherwise, with his strength, there’s no way he could have handled all of them alone."

Hearing this, Su Miaoyu’s eyes narrowed slightly as she sank into thought.

She murmured, "Could it be Chu Lingjun?"

"Unlikely," the underling said, shaking his head. "With Sister Chu’s strength as number one on the Martial Roll, killing those people would be as easy as flipping her hand, but she wouldn’t slaughter fellow sect members without cause. Senior Sister Su, it seems this Long Chen has hidden his true capabilities. He’s far more complex than we thought."

"I don’t care who is helping him from the shadows. His life is mine to take!" Su Miaoyu declared with a cold snort.

"You sent people to assassinate Long Chen?"

An indifferent voice came from behind her. Su Miaoyu turned to see Shangguan Pojun.

A smile immediately blossomed on her face. "Brother Po Jun..."

"I know you’re anxious for Long Chen to die." Shangguan Pojun cut her off before she could finish. "I’d also like to crush him on the spot myself, but this is the Demon Pursuit Conference. We must be careful not to give anyone leverage against us. Otherwise, my recent closed-door cultivation will have been for nothing. Do you understand?"

Hearing this, Su Miaoyu nodded immediately. "I know how important this Demon Pursuit Conference is to you. Don’t worry, I won’t cause you any trouble."

Shangguan Pojun patted her shoulder. "I promise you, once this Demon Pursuit Conference is over, I will personally take his life."

"Good." A flash of discontent crossed Su Miaoyu’s face, but she still managed to force a smile. "I believe you."

Then, she quickly changed the subject. "Weren’t you hunting disciples from the Heavenly Demon Sect? Why are you back so soon?"

Shangguan Pojun waved his hand lightly, and a large number of tokens appeared before them—nearly a hundred in total.

Many of the Disciples of the Earth Court were astounded. Their eyes went wide as saucers!

He killed that many disciples of the Heavenly Demon Sect in just ten minutes?

"The cowards from the Heavenly Demon Sect now hide from me like turtles in their shells. Otherwise, I would have killed even more," Shangguan Pojun said, his voice brimming with confidence and pride.

"Brother Po Jun, you’re incredible!" Su Miaoyu moved closer to Shangguan Pojun, throwing herself into his arms. "I’ve also collected quite a few tokens. Both of our names will surely be on the final rankings for this Demon Pursuit Conference."

Shangguan Pojun, his spirits high, nodded in agreement. "Let’s go get more points. The three from the Sword Ancestor and Chu Lingjun are our biggest threats. We can’t afford to slack off."

「Meanwhile, outside the spatial passageway.」

Li Sheng and the others were all watching the changes on the Integral Stone Pillars. Seeing the pillars of the Sword Ancestor disciples rising incessantly, An Zhun, Li Man, and Feng Xin couldn’t stop smiling.

Among them, the Integral Stone Pillars of Ma Cheng and the other two top Sword Ancestor disciples were rising particularly fast! Besides those three, the pillars for the other Sword Ancestor disciples also showed varying degrees of progress.

As for the Martial Ancestor side, the pillars for Chu Lingjun, Shangguan Pojun, and Tuoba Beast were also rising quickly, keeping pace with the top three from the Sword Ancestor. Overall, however, it was clear that the Sword Ancestor held a significant advantage.

In fact, the Integral Stone Pillars of many Martial Ancestor disciples hadn’t moved at all. Long Chen’s, for example, hadn’t shifted since the very beginning.

Triumph was written all over An Zhun’s face as he looked at Chu Zhentian and the others with scorn.

"Brother Chu, what’s going on with your Martial Ancestor? Your performance in this Demon Pursuit Conference is even worse than the last. If this keeps up, the Martial Ancestor might as well not bother showing up for the next one. Just leave it all to us from the Sword Ancestor."

Upon hearing this, the expressions of Chu Zhentian and the others turned grave. It was an undeniable fact that the overall strength of the Sword Ancestor was greater than that of the Martial Ancestor. Now, all their hopes were pinned on Chu Lingjun, Shangguan Pojun, and Tuoba Beast.

"Don’t celebrate too early," Chu Zhentian said nonchalantly. "What if a disciple from our Martial Ancestor ends up taking first place?"

"That’s impossible!" An Zhun and his companions retorted, full of confidence.

While everyone else’s attention was on the prodigies of the two sects, Chen Yao’s gaze remained fixed on Long Chen’s Integral Stone Pillar.

What on earth is Long Chen doing?
