Supreme BeastTamer: I Can Copy and Upgrade Skills 10x!-Chapter 678: Reclaiming the Western Region
Chapter 678: Reclaiming the Western Region
The battlefield had fallen silent again.
That kind of silence that wasn’t peace—but pressure.
Prince Adrian stepped forward from the dissipating mist, each footstep crunching against the scorched earth, his smile calm... but cold.
Water blades spun lazily around his arms, almost like living extensions of his will.
Kira’s heart skipped, and the others backed up on instinct.
"You three," Adrian said, flicking his wrist.
SHING! SHING!
In the blink of an eye, the blades vanished—and reformed into long spears.
Before anyone could react, he threw them.
BOOM! BOOM!
Two of the spears exploded on impact, slamming into the bulky demon and the masked one. The ground beneath them erupted, swallowing both in water pressure and magic shock.
"Arghhh!!"
"Dammit!!"
"He’s not even giving us time to breathe!"
The female demoness screamed as she barely rolled away from the third spear, which burst beside her in a geyser of slicing streams.
But Adrian wasn’t done. With a single step, he vanished.
"—?!!"
A punch landed on the masked demon’s gut from above, slamming him straight into the dirt.
CRACK!
The earth beneath him split open.
"Gahhhh!"
Another water chain lashed out like a viper, yanking the emerald-haired demoness straight into the path of an elbow strike that broke her nose on impact.
Kira’s eyes widened. He was taking them out one by one.
She didn’t think—her body moved. Her giant blade slashed horizontally, sending out another crimson wave aimed directly at Adrian’s chest.
But it never landed.
The moment her attack came close—
CLANG!
A water shield erupted from his shoulder, taking the hit without even flinching. Then he disappeared.
Her instincts screamed danger, and she leapt back. However, it was too late.
A spinning water kick slammed into her ribs, sending her tumbling across the cracked battlefield, rolling until her body slammed into a pile of dead demons.
"Ugh..." She coughed blood.
Suddenly, while trying to get back on her feet, the red-skinned girl heard a piercing cry ring out from the other side of the battlefield.
Her eyes immediately snapped toward the sound—and widened in disbelief.
The winged demon she had sent after the princess was on the ground, squirming—engulfed in an intense, burning white flame.
"Argggghhhhhhhh!"
Standing over him was the very girl he was supposed to kill.
’That... holy attack.’ Kira’s eyes glinted with concern when she saw this.
Although she was not a demon, she had stayed with them for the past months, and during that time she had learned that demons were extremely vulnerable to holy attacks.
The princess... happened to be a priest. Not just a priest, but one rumored to have a close connection with her patron god.
Hence, in a battlefield like this, she was a true menace.
In fact, in Kira’s eyes, the biggest threat present wasn’t Adrian—rather, it was Princess Ria Vermilion.
She clenched her fist, watching her carefully planned mission fail right before her eyes due to the surprise interference of the prince and his army.
"All of you... you’re just like my brother—always underestimating me. Just because I’m a priestess doesn’t mean I’m weak." Her voice boomed across the field. "Today, I shall prove all my doubters wrong!!"
Suddenly, Ria’s eyes still glowing, a strange insignia appeared within them, and she began to chant loudly.
The clouds above swirled unnaturally. Everyone looked up.
Adrian looked up too, squinting slightly.
The princess still stood where she was, her hands glowing faintly with a light-blue aura. Her lips moved silently as her soldiers formed a perfect circle around her.
One by one, magic circles appeared in the sky.
First five. Then ten. Then twenty.
"What’s this?" one of the demons muttered, his voice trembling.
Even Kira looked confused, then her eyes widened as she felt a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach.
No matter what, she couldn’t afford to let the princess finish activating her skill. If not, she felt her forces would suffer significant damage.
She tried to move, but soon felt several water chains bind both her legs and arms.
"I know that look..." Adrian said. "I won’t let you do whatever you’re planning."
She bit her lips, and for the first time, a look of pure frustration appeared in her eyes.
"Hendrix, stop her!" she shouted.
"On it!" he nodded and was about to use one of his clone skills when Jack’s fist smashed into his face, causing the white-haired boy to stagger back.
"Finally!" Jack exclaimed in satisfaction. This was the first time since the fight started that he had landed a solid hit, and he felt quite satisfied.
Hendrix’s expression twisted in fury. He was about to retaliate with one of his most powerful skills—
But right at that moment, the princess’s eyes snapped open.
And she pointed her finger forward.
"—Rainfall of the Forgotten Sea."
The twenty magic circles above suddenly ignited.
And from each one...
Spears of compressed holy magic rained down. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
Thousands. No, tens of thousands.
Each one glowing faintly with blue divine light, sharp enough to slice through steel.
They didn’t fall like arrows.
They pierced through the air like god-forged lances.
"RUUUUN!!"
"EVERYONE FALL BACK!!"
But it was too late. The battlefield turned into a blender.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The demons screamed as the sky tore them apart.
Each spear that landed exploded into another burst of slicing rain, tearing apart entire formations.
Even Kira could do nothing but try to dodge while attempting to slash at the holy lances.
The human army stared in awe. Even Adrian took a step back as he watched the storm unfold.
’She’s actually capable.’ he thought inwardly, his eyes glinting in disbelief—then his expression changed to one of pride.
Five minutes passed, and demon bodies littered the ground. Most of the demon elites were gone—or greatly injured.
The princess collapsed to one knee, panting heavily. Her soldiers quickly rushed to her side, checking for injuries.
"...She’s fine," one of them reported. "She just exhausted her mana."
Adrian finally looked around and gave a small nod of approval.
Then his eyes turned toward the remaining enemies still alive—Kira and maybe two others.
Of course, some of the demons and members of the Flaming Rose, despite Ria’s destructive attack, weren’t entirely wiped out, but their numbers had reduced greatly. They were clearly spent and appeared exhausted.
’I failed.’ Kira clenched her fist. ’And the worst part? It wasn’t even at his hands—but a group of random people.’
As for Hendrix, there were clearly other plans in his mind. His sharp gaze scanned his surroundings, trying to find an escape route.
He knew that despite his strength, remaining here could only endanger his life. Besides, the person he was after wasn’t even here, so there was technically no point staying.
For a while, there was a temporary standstill. The demons looked hesitant to attack, while the humans looked like wild savages ready to pounce at any time.
"Do you still wish to fight, demons?" Adrian’s loud voice rang out. "Surrender, and I’ll make your death painless. But continue fighting, and I, Prince Adrian Vermilion, promise you... you shall suffer a fate even worse than death."
Kneeling just a couple of meters away, Kira clenched the hilt of her sword tightly, a defiant look in her eyes.
Of course, she wouldn’t surrender! She would rather fight to the death than return to her father—with shame.
She raised her head, eyes locked onto Adrian’s pair, as she said slowly—
"It’s not ov—"
But she couldn’t complete her sentence, as a deep, guttural roar echoed from the sky.
The sound made even the most bloodthirsty demons freeze.
The humans and remaining demons looked up, squinting.
Then—
FWOOOOM!
A massive gust of wind descended as something huge pierced the clouds.
No, not something.
Several somethings.
It was the dragons. Not one, not two—but six massive dragons burst through the airspace above the battlefield. Their scales glistened in different hues—frost, earth, fire, lightning, shadow, and water.
Ria’s eyes glinted when she saw this, and she couldn’t help but burst into a fit of laughter. She glanced beside her and saw the stunned look on her brother’s face.
"D-Dragons! They’re real! They’re really here." The prince’s body was literally trembling with excitement and fascination at the majestic sight of the winged creatures.
Riding on the back of the lead dragon—a dark purple one with obsidian wings—was a familiar figure.
Seeing Nyx with her signature cold look, a wave of relief flashed through both Akira and Jack’s faces.
"Reinforcements from Cromwell Barony!" her voice echoed. "We’ll take over from here on!"
When Kira saw the presence of the powerful dragons and the state of her half-destroyed, disorganized army, all will to fight seemed to disappear from her face.
She had lost the fight, and the humans had successfully recaptured the whole of the western region.
It was the humans’ first significant pushback since this war started.
