Sarama only occasionally stays here. She hasn’t hired any servants, but people come to clean every day. Once the cleaning is done, they leave and don’t stay on the island. The island truly is beautiful, or perhaps it’s that the surrounding scenery is impossibly stunning. The surrounding sea is a brilliant blue and crystal clear, teeming with a variety of fish. If one wishes, they can suit up and dive in; the sea floor depth varies, with the shallow waters around the island only a few meters deep but reaching over ten meters farther out.

The visibility is remarkable, and Sarama’s home is equipped with complete diving gear.

Li Yifei, respecting her interest, accompanied her into the water. When Su Lio caught sight of Li Yifei stripped down to his swim trunks again, she quickly turned away. Li Yifei then plunged into the water, staying under for two minutes before surfacing and shouting, "Catch this!"

Everyone watched as Li Yifei tossed several items onto the shore; to their amazement, he had caught several large crabs. The women were surprised, and a few minutes later, Li Yifei surfaced again with several fish.

Sarama quickly fetched a basin to hold the fish and crabs, saying, "We’ve got dinner sorted."

Xu Shanshan, unable to contain her excitement, jumped straight in without bothering to change into swimwear.

In half an hour, the two had caught enough fish and other seafood for a meal. The women on the shore enthusiastically helped gather the catch into the basin.

That evening, they cooked the seafood they caught, with Li Yifei as the head chef and the women assisting him, preparing a sumptuous dinner.

After being well-fed, Li Yifei’s phone rang. Glancing at the number, he gestured to the women and walked back into the villa to answer the call.

He answered with a simple "Hello," and the voice on the other end burst into laughter before saying, "Kid, can you still recognize my voice?"

Li Yifei’s face immediately broke into a smile as he replied, "Of course I can, old leader. What brings you to call me today?"

The caller was an old leader from Li Yifei’s military days, someone of high rank but rumored to be retired. He had taken care of Li Yifei back in the day, so his attitude was amiable. The other laughed warmly and said, "You rascal, even though you’ve left the unit, I’ve kept an eye on you. You’re not doing too badly, staying within the limits."

This was praise, and Li Yifei nodded slightly, pleased to receive a compliment from his old leader. However, he remained silent, waiting for the leader to continue.

The old leader paused, noticing Li Yifei’s silence, and said, "You, you’re getting shrewder. Fine, I won’t beat around the bush. I’m calling because I need your help."

"Old leader, if you need my help, I technically can’t refuse, but I’ve been dismissed from the army; there are some things I can’t do," Li Yifei responded. The moment he received the call, he guessed the purpose; someone from the Northern Military District had reached out to the old leader.

"What? Are you still holding a grudge because I didn’t protect you back then?" the old leader immediately raised his voice.

"Not at all, I’m just being honest."

"Who made you mess up back then? Otherwise, there’s no way they would have let go of a promising soldier like you. But, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise; you’re much better off now than in the army. I’ve heard that you’re quite revered locally, but I’m telling you, many people are watching you."

"If you put it that way... I’ll admit it. But everything I’ve achieved now is entirely due to my efforts," Li Yifei replied.

"Enough with the back-and-forth. You know my character; the people over there messed up. They can’t handle the rescue, so they came to me for help. Since you’re in that area, lend a hand," the old leader commanded, leaving no room for refusal.

Li Yifei rolled his eyes and sighed internally. It seemed this damned task was unavoidable. Of course, he could directly refuse, and the old leader probably wouldn’t insist too much; after all, he was no longer part of the military. Still, if Li Yifei refused, the country would send others into that impenetrable nation... and it might be better for him to go instead.

Chapter 1987: Accepting the Task

Li Yifei didn’t want to put his comrades in danger. If others were sent, they might not match his capability, increasing the risk.

So, he agreed, saying, "Old leader, I’m only helping for your sake; I have no ties with those people."

"Of course, it’s for my sake, but after all, they’re comrades; people need rescuing," replied the old leader.

"I’m agreeing, but old leader, they’re so evasive and won’t tell me the truth. If you want me to accept the task, you have to lay it out for me!"

"These people, despite the high secrecy level, since they’re asking for your help, how can they not be honest about the situation? They are indeed incompetent," the old leader criticized, allowing Li Yifei to feel somewhat appeased. Finally, he explained the situation to Li Yifei.
