Chapter 1905: Chapter 1970: Assault

Li Yifei reached the designated location. He had already delayed for five days, so today he had to launch the assault and eliminate everyone here. Yifei needed to rush back to Dubai immediately to treat Su Lio; otherwise, she might also encounter problems.

His subordinates would continue to lie in wait here, waiting to locate other forces of Muhan’s Revenge Organization before launching another assault.

This base of Muhan’s Revenge Organization was established on a mountaintop. It was called a mountain, but it was really just higher than the surrounding hills. There were many traditional communal houses on the mountain, and on one side of the slope was a training field for these people. Several tall machine gun towers and gun emplacements were visible, indicating the organization had a rich arsenal. Forcefully storming it wasn’t wise, but fortunately, the organization’s patrols were not very strict. Li Yifei had three armored vehicles parked a distance away, prepared to launch the attack at night.

Their manpower was obviously less than that of the mountain’s enemies, but their weaponry was more sophisticated. After regrouping with Sophia, Li Yifei listened to her report. The people on the mountain already knew about Ayla’s death. On one hand, they were riled up, wanting to avenge Ayla and find the killer to tear them apart; on the other hand, there was an internal power struggle. Sophia even infiltrated the mountain and saw two large factions confronting each other, fighting for control of the camp, which is why the defenses were so lax.

"Let them fight. Tonight we’ll teach them a lesson." Li Yifei smirked and said, "Given the situation, we’ll alter our plan."

Originally, Li Yifei planned to suppress the enemy using their superior weaponry, unleashing an artillery barrage on the people on the mountain to create chaos, then launch an assault from all sides. However, since the enemy was already in disarray, Li Yifei decided to change tactics.

At dusk, Li Yifei led one team, Sophia led another, Ayurhan led a third, and a mercenary led the fourth team, with each team having about ten people. The remaining personnel were on standby for support, equipped with heavy weaponry for long-range support.

These four teams silently advanced after dark. Li Yifei and Sophia planned to flank the mountain from the other side, which was the enemy’s frontal camp, while the other two teams had an easier task.

Thus, Li Yifei and Sophia’s teams needed to move quickly, circling around and quietly eliminating the sentry posts below the mountain. While advancing, Li Yifei suddenly halted, gesturing for everyone to find cover or lie down; then, he burst forward with ghost-like speed, covering several dozen meters in a few quick bounds, something the others were used to, viewing Golden Eagle as a war god of sorts.

Li Yifei had discovered an enemy checkpoint, cleverly concealed underground with only an observation slit above ground, making it nearly impossible to spot. Inside, the sentries were alert. One of them noticed a vague shadow at a distance and quickly assembled a machine gun, preparing to use it, whispering to the others inside about his observation.

"I think I saw someone up ahead..." he said, but couldn’t see beyond as the team had already taken cover or lay prone. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"Maybe it was a wild wolf or something, you’re seeing things," a companion said after a glance, seeing nothing.

"I distinctly saw a group..." he mumbled in doubt.

As they were muttering, they suddenly felt debris falling from the overhead cover, but it was just earth above them. As confusion set in, the entire cover collapsed, crashing down on them. Before they could cry out, one of them felt a powerful hand clasp his throat, snapping his neck in a moment.

The others realized they were under attack and tried to ready their weapons, but it was too late; Li Yifei had swiftly eliminated the four sentries without a sound, much less raising an alarm.

Such hidden checkpoints would have posed a threat if not for Li Yifei’s discovery, so he quickly warned the other three groups to stay alert. Li Yifei wasn’t concerned about Sophia’s group but was wary of the other two.

Fortunately, there were few such hidden checkpoints. Sophia’s team found one, while the others faced regular sentry posts, which they quickly overpowered.

Continuing their advance, Li Yifei and his group reached the mountain’s base, where they could hear voices and arguments from above. Just as they were about to move, gunfire erupted.

"Hmm?" Li Yifei listened intently, identifying the gunfire as coming from the summit, easing his concerns. If another path had been discovered, he would have had to storm upwards immediately.

Apparently, the people on the mountain were still internally conflicted, sealing their fate. The four teams continued advancing upward.

Ten minutes later, Li Yifei led his team to mid-mountain, having cleared over a dozen enemies along the way.

"As per the plan, launch the assault!" Li Yifei ordered through his earpiece. The other three teams confirmed and prepared their weapons, launching the attack up the mountain.

Although the terrorists were aware of Ayla’s situation, they never anticipated anyone daring to attack here. As one of the major organizations in the area, they were usually the aggressors, not the attacked, and certainly didn’t expect an assault here. Instead of retaliating immediately, they scattered in panic.

This granted Li Yifei’s team an excellent assault opportunity, pushing through the first defense line with only two minor injuries.

As per Sophia’s prior reconnaissance, the mountaintop had three defense lines. The first was the most fortified; the second was less so, and the last was practically unguarded. Most medium-sized defenses were located on the first line, at mid-mountain, requiring Li Yifei to exercise caution, or he would have charged forward earlier.

The enemies’ panic presented Li Yifei’s side with a perfect opportunity. Leading the charge through the first defense line, he seized several heavy machine guns, assigning personnel to fire suppressively.

These heavy machine guns, similar to those used by Rambo in the movie "First Blood," were exceptionally fast and powerful, capable of penetrating ordinary walls and shredding bodies into pieces, making their attack power extremely formidable.

An ample supply of ammunition was nearby, ensuring continuous firepower suppression.

Li Yifei didn’t expect such success; his side hadn’t lost a single life while pushing the enemy to the mountain peak, leaving them nowhere to retreat.

The opposition quickly rallied to retaliate, but by then, Li Yifei had reached the second defense line, switching his machine gun to semi-automatic, pouring deadly bullets one by one, taking out one terrorist after another.

Not only was Li Yifei’s marksmanship precise, but the mercenaries’ individual combat prowess was also formidable. Their coordination had improved over the recent days, with teams of three to five supporting each other, covering blind spots.

After reaching this point, Li Yifei slowed his pace, methodically advancing to prevent any escapes. Here was no mercy on the battlefield; every insurgent here had hands stained with blood, eliminating even one potentially granted safety to many others, as these individuals could infiltrate the civilian world, turning into human explosives.

In this battle, Li Yifei had only one order: leave no survivors.

The night was saturated with combat, fire illuminating the dark; those posted below brought up the armored vehicles, deploying the high-caliber machine guns and mortars to bombard the summit directly.

The destructive power of these weapons was astonishing, and despite low accuracy, combined with Li Yifei’s ground offensive, they proved effective.

This was a battle of several hundred people, rare worldwide, but possible in regions like Africa and the Middle East. Yifei felt as if he’d returned to the battlefield, with gunfire and cannon blasts roaring around him, his blood boiling. For a full half-hour, everyone remained intensely focused, relentlessly attacking. The enemy numbers dwindled, leaving their bodies everywhere; Li Yifei’s side suffered seven to eight casualties, but there was no time for sentiment. Li Yifei demanded that for each fallen comrade, ten enemies must pay.

Even then, the attackers remained anonymous to the enemies. Initially mistaken for Pakistani forces, their appearance and equipment disproved this, leaving the defenders in confusion.

Only twenty-plus terrorists holed up in the last fortification on the peak understood their dire situation. Normally arrogant and domineering, they now fantasized about strapping on explosives for a mutual demise with their opponents, but they couldn’t execute the plan; stepping outside meant instant death.

Li Yifei wasn’t in a hurry to assault this fort. Instead, he directed his men to clear the battlefield, leaving no survivors.

Amidst the smoke, blood, and mangled bodies, Li Yifei stayed unflinching. Based on intelligence, Muhan’s Revenge Organization comprised over a thousand members; eliminating three hundred-plus was just the beginning, not a moment for triumph.

After securing the battlefield, Li Yifei led his team to the summit, eyeing the defensive structure—a mountain-dug cavern unknown in-depth. He commanded Ayurhan to call out, giving them three minutes to surrender, or remain forever.
