Chapter 119 -114: Injustice on the Road

The men in black were ready, and immediately had men dealing with the camel caravan.

As more and more people surged forward, they were fortunate to only have one stairway to deal with. Facing the increasing numbers of men in black, they couldn’t block those who were continuously climbing up the stairs. Jiang Zhuge instructed his disciples behind him: “Tear down the stairs.”

“Swish swish…” A few beams of energy fired out and they dismantled the staircase.

Soon, the entire stairway was reduced to rubble.

The people in the inn had no choice but to frantically flee outside.

Upon seeing the stairway demolished, the men in black immediately produced large iron hooks with ropes. They threw the hooks upwards; they wouldn’t let any chance to climb up go idly by. Jiang Zhuge led people to fend them off.

But their numbers were too few. Arrows flew chaotically in every direction, making them difficult to combat. Especially the man in black at the front, whose martial arts skills were unnervingly high, matching Jiang Zhuge’s own.

Jiang Zhuge roared: “Do you know who we are? This is utter lawlessness!”

“It’s precisely because we know who you are, we are moving in. Hoping for the Third Demon’s man to rescue you? I’m afraid they’re not coming in time,” the man in black at the front roared back.

“You dare to capture her, do you know who this girl is?”

“It’s because we know who she is, we want to capture her.”

“Who gave you such audacity, aren’t you afraid that the Third Demon’s men will obliterate you?”

“Quit your posturing, the Third Demon has long been a mere shell of its former self, and you’re still trying to scare us with the name of the Third Demon, that would’ve worked in the past, but it’s outdated now.” The man in black then turned to his men, instructing them:

“Remember, we must capture that girl. She has to be captured.”

Those who heard him flooded forward again, completely disregarding if they were people of the Third Demon or not.

Jiang Zhuge murmured: “You are too audacious, the Third Demon won’t forgive you.”

“Stop scaring us. Now you can’t even take care of yourselves, let alone destroy us. If you could really obliterate us, would the Wastelands have been in this state in recent years?” The man in black continued: “Old thing, trying to stall, are you? You can’t protect that girl. Brothers, let’s go! Whoever captures that girl gets 100 taels of gold.”

Jiang Zhuge and his men were fighting desperately, making it difficult for the attackers to ascend. After tearing down the long staircase, it wasn’t so easy for them to go up.

The man in black commanded: “Climb up from the outside windows.”

Several men behind him nodded in agreement, leading more people to the rear, intending to climb up through the windows.

All this time, Jiang Zhuge had been fiercely battling those inside, but then a subordinate of Kong Sha ran up and said, “Not good, they are climbing up through the windows.”

Jiang Zhuge quickly delegated the defense here to his disciples and, accompanied by a group, rushed into Yiling’s room. By then, a few men had already entered through the window. Jiang Zhuge, along with Kong Sha, joined forces and kicked them down. However, more and more men in black climbed up, and due to their limited numbers, they were increasingly under pressure.

Kong Sha said, “It’s not good, we can’t hold them off. The caravan…they’re no match for them. We need to find a way to escape from here.”

Jiang Zhuge nodded.

Kong Sha continued, “Their target is Ling’er. She is the most important. We cannot let them capture her.”

Jiang Zhuge glanced around. More and more people were about to ascend while his own force was dwindling. They could not hold off the attackers much longer.

Kong Sha suggested, “If we continue like this, we will all be trapped here. We should leave with Ling’er as soon as possible. You take Ling’er and leave, I’ll cover our retreat.”

“We’re on the brink of being overwhelmed. We must leave immediately, or we’ll never make it.”

“What about you?”

“We are not their target. They have no reason to kill us. You must quickly take Ling’er and go. If you delay any longer, it may be impossible to get out.”

Kong Sha unleashed a few beams energy with a “swish” and “swish,” slashing down the men who were trying to climb up.

A disciple ran up from behind, “We can’t hold them back any longer. They’re all getting up.”

“There’s no way out at the front. Go out through the window and don’t hesitate!” Kong Sha ordered.

Jiang Zhuge hesitated for a moment, then said, “Alright, you all be careful. We’ll get in touch later.”

“Don’t worry, take care of Ling’er. Don’t be afraid, Ling’er.” Kong Sha then rushed towards the oncoming attackers in order to pave a path for Jiang Zhuge, buying them more time to escape.

They picked a relatively hidden spot, opened a window, and sent two disciples down first to ensure the safety of the escape route. Not long after, they helped Wei Yiling down. Once Ling’er was down, Jiang Zhuge followed suit.

More and more people were rushing towards them.

The news of Jiang Zhuge’s escape through the window quickly reached Yang Jing. Yang Jing ordered, “Quick, don’t let them escape. Capture that girl!” His determination was unwavering.

A large group of men in black burst out of the inn to confront Jiang Zhuge outside. Kong Sha, from above, saw many people running out and tying down Jiang Zhuge. He too jumped down. At this moment, people from the caravan heroically emerged to help. They seemed to understand that these people wanted to capture the little girl. The caravan folks often dealt with those from the Third Demon and knew they were allies of the Heavenly King. They were more than willing to lend a hand.

Although they could not contribute much, it seemed that the men in black were not particularly powerful. They wanted to help Kong Sha hold off the group of black-clad men.

Ye Chen, watching from the top, saw a crowd surrounding the people of the Third Demon and said, “It seems their target is the people of the Third Demon.”

“It’s that girl.” The Red Demonic Spirit said.

Ye Chen nodded in agreement and said, “They want to catch that girl. What for? To find a wife? She’s so young, it’ll take some time.”

“How would I know? But they certainly do want to capture that girl.”

The caravan’s people were also pouring out of the inn, which was by then engulfed in flames. More and more Winged Dragons were hovering in the sky.

Kong Sha, confronted by the scores of men in black and with his disciples diminishing in number, quickly released the Crystal Beast. He shouted to Jiang Zhuge, “Go, you must go. I’ll hold them off.”

However, Ye Chen, watching from above, said, “That’s not going to work, the surroundings are still circled by people. How can they escape?”

Indeed, there was still a blockade around the perimeter, and they were not yet aware of it.

“We should go down and take a look.” Ye Chen ran down.

At that moment, Kong Sha, along with around ten people, broke through with the help of the camel team and escaped the inn. However, before they could get far, in the pitch-black hills, over thirty men clad in black emerged out of nowhere, fierce and aggressive like hungry wolves, ensnaring them instantly.

They kept rushing in continuously.

Ye Chen asked, “What should we do?”

“You’re going soft on them!” commented the Red Demonic Spirit.

“Stop the jokes now. Those are bandits, unjust people. Can we just stand by and let them be? We should do something.”

“Aren’t you afraid we’ll be exposed, chased down by those from the Evil Domain and the Demon Domain?”

“I am afraid, but we should do something now.”

“I think you are restless because that girl is too pretty.”

“Hey, we should draw our weapons to aid those being bullied.”

“Haha, spare me your noble principles and aiding the bullied. Talking about your basic martial arts skill isn’t a tool of assistance. You can’t even save yourself, let alone others. So stop dragging me into this,” the Red Demonic Spirit said.

“Yes, you’re right. I am of no use.”

“Haha, I think you would only bring me trouble.” The Red Demonic Spirit emerged from Ye Chen’s body and instructed, “Hide out in the back and do not appear, run at any sign of danger.”

“Are you really going to take action?”

“Yes, you are so eager to save the beauty, even at the risk of being exposed. I will of course indulge you. How else would you say that I lack empathy? Let’s give it a shot, then, all for the sake of your future wife.”

“What if we get separated, how will you find me?”

“Don’t worry, I know your scent.”

“So you have a nose like a dog’s then.”

“Hurry up and find a place to hide.”

“You’re really a good friend. Don’t get caught. You still have to teach me martial arts.”

The people of the Third Demon were now surrounded. Even though Jiang Zhuge’s martial arts skills were advanced, when facing several times the number of people, they were less effective.

They were soon surrounded.

However, it being almost pitch-black outside might prove advantageous.

The Red Demonic Spirit had already emerged from Ye Chen’s body and had gone unnoticed.

The encirclement was tightening and they were on the brink of being caught.

Suddenly, from behind, an immense burst of energy erupted, taking everyone off guard and knocking down a large swath of men clad in black.

Jiang Zhuge was quite shocked, but the break in the encirclement gave them another chance.

Before they could react, the Red Demonic Spirit, like a giant python, unleashed a furious attack, taking down many more.

Jiang Zhuge yelled, led the people out of the circle of captors, and ran into the darkness.

Seeing them escape, the Red Demonic Spirit also took off, knowing that the men in black would soon regroup.

“Damn it, what the hell was that?” exclaimed Ci Ye.

“I don’t know, it appeared to be a python.”

“Bullshit, if it was a python, why didn’t it eat you?” Clearly agitated, Ci Ye had finally encircled them after much difficulty, only to let them escape. Unable to bear this turn of events, he yelled, “Chase them, I want that girl captured.”

A large number of men in black were hot on their trail. In particular, the mutant beasts were fast and they seemed unlikely to break away.

Jiang Zhuge told his two disciples, “Both of you should ensure Ling’er’s safety. I will hold them off.”

“Let us hold them off and you can escort Ling’er.”

However, Jiang Zhuge knew that even together, his two disciples wouldn’t be able to hold them off — it would have to be him. “Enough chatter, listen to me,” he ordered. “Both of you take Ling’er and run, escape from here, go as far as you can, and hide.”

The disciples had no choice but to obey.

Jiang Zhuge charged forward, positioning himself to block the men, to stop them from getting through.

Ci Ye and the men in black arrived in no time. They were stopped by Jiang Zhuge, who was coming at them head-on. Not seeing the girl, Ci Ye asked his men, “Where’s the girl?”

“Don’t know,” one of his underlings responded.

“Find her. Look for her now!” Ci Ye yelled.

As a large mutant beast lunged at them, two of the men protecting Ling’er started to fight it off, yelling, “Ling’er, run, hide somewhere.”

Ling’er continued to move forward.

The surroundings grew darker, pitch-black by now.

The sounds of the mutant beasts echoed from behind.

Unsure of where to go next, suddenly, a voice came from up ahead. In a corner of the mountaintop, a silhouette emerged – it was Ye Chen, a child.

“Come over here quickly.” Ye Chen called once again.
