Chapter 46: All part of his plan.

’Okay, hold on. Calm your horses and evaluate this well.’

Kai kept a calm look on the outside despite feeling way more excited than he thought he would.

The entire time, his mind had been on how he would gauge the strength of his summons when they were faced with an ambush.

Not once did he remember that from the players’ deaths, he was going to get his usual boosted EXP and loot from them.

He gulped down his saliva, more and more players meeting their ends as his monsters dominated the entire cult.

[Player RedKnight has been killed.]

[35,000 EXP has been obtained.]

[You have crossed the threshold of 100,000 EXP.]

[Multiple Dungeon Features have been unlocked for you.]

’This is genius.’

Kai leaned to the side on his makeshift throne of stairs.

’Why didn’t I think of that? If I keep luring more players into my dungeon, I can get more EXP. The more EXP I have, the stronger I get. I counted a total of forty-five players in here. That is without counting the White Light Party. One player of their level gave me more than 20,000 EXP. So if that is true, then forty-five deaths will be...’

At the sudden realization of the astronomical amount of EXP he was getting from the raid, he quickly shifted his gaze to the side, a bit overwhelmed after the mental calculation.

With such a huge amount of EXP, there were so many things he could accomplish.

Not to mention, the three artifacts he got from Thomas’s death immediately transferred to his inventory.

[Orion Ring (Third Grade)]

[The Leveler (Third Grade)]

[Health Merchant (Third Grade)]

They were all Third Grade, just as he predicted.

’Before I decide whether or not it was worth the trouble, I should first check if the artifacts in the Dungeon Shop could be any better. But first, the loose ends.’

Just when he wanted to open his interface—

"My Lord, all the humans have been eliminated just as you ordered."

Kai snapped from his thoughts, looking onwards at the massacre his people had caused.

He could see the piles of dead bodies on the ground, along with four of his Skeleton Warriors.

That was his only loss. Four skeletons for forty-five elites. A decisive victory.

Moving his gaze along, he picked up on the White Light Party. Like abused children from a broken home, they were huddled at the corner of the plaza, watching the entire battle from a safe distance, shivering.

’They didn’t even try to run away?’ Kai raised his brow a bit.

He could tell they were terrified and probably traumatized from what they had witnessed, but at least he expected them to make an effort to escape.

"Bring them to me." He pointed at the party.

He watched as the fear that had seemed to settle down on their faces soon picked back up to the surface.

Immediately after Kai gave that order, the monsters moved, stepping on the dead bodies of the players they had killed and grabbing them all roughly and forcing them to kneel before the stairs.

’I intended to kill them from the start. After all, they wished ill against me and hoped to sell me to the Red Players. But, I have better use for them. At least for a single task.’

[The Blessing: All Master has been activated.]

Kai’s eyes glowed a deep, mesmerizing red.

"From this moment forth, you will answer to me. I, the Shadow of Victims, will be your Master. Obey me."

The moment Kai’s eyes glowed and the blessing activated, every monster nearby averted their gazes, not wanting to be caught in the crossfire of such potent mental magic.

As for the party, who were completely oblivious to Kai’s power, they kept a keen eye on him. The blessing immediately seeped into their systems in an instant, rewriting their loyalty.

Not even a few moments later, their trembling stopped. They remained knelt on the ground, completely under Kai’s command as he had ordered.

’It can even work from this far distance? I am actually impressed.’

Kai opened his palm, and the three artifacts he had gotten from Thomas’s death appeared before him, floating in a small gravity field.

Using his wind magic, he safely and gently moved the artifacts from his palm to float directly in front of Alex and his teammates.

"You will go into Rambosa City and trade these at the Guild House. But you will not trade it quietly. You will let it be known to the public as well when asked."

Kai leaned forward, his voice absolute.

"Tell them that the Lord of the Nameless Dungeon, Kai Grayhart, the Shadow of victims slew over forty Red Players when they dared to attack him."

Silence settled as Alex stared at the floating artifacts, blood still dripping down the side of his face.

For starters, he was sure he and his friends should have been dead a long time ago. It was only a miracle that they were still alive.

And the other thing, something that truly shocked them all, was the name.

The Shadow of Victims called himself Kai Grayhart.

The very same name of the newbie that had chosen to reject their offer a while back.

Kai the Newbie was Kai the Boss.

The more Alex thought about it, the more he understood it was all part of a plan, and he had only foolishly gone along with it.

Why else would a Boss, known to be the Virus of the game, pose as a newbie adventurer?

Alex chuckled at how stupid everything was. He had assumed he was the one in control, but the entire time, Kai had been pulling the strings.

"Huh?!"

Lyra suddenly descended from the sky, landing with a heavy thud right in front of the group. She gave them a death stare that quickly caused the chuckle to die in Alex’s throat.

"My Lord has offered to spare your pitiful lives and instead grant you a chance to redeem yourselves, and you are choosing to repay him with silence and a laugh?!"

Carlotta also had a frown on her face, stepping forward.

"Lord Kai, I am afraid I agree with Lyra on this one. To have an outsider laugh at your words... I say we kill them and dispose of their bodies. We can always find better pawns later."

"N-no, please! He didn’t mean it! I beg you to spare us! I’ll do anything!" Sofia’s voice echoed throughout the entire place, her forehead pressed on the ground so hard it looked like she was trying to burrow through the stone.

The rest of the group members began to beg for their lives as well, their voices echoing over one another in a chorus of desperation.

"Enough."

Kai’s voice cut through the air, forcing the entire place to fall silent once again.

"These are the perfect pawns for us. You both need not worry about the extra details. They have seen the power of the Nameless Dungeon firsthand, and they witnessed the entire annihilation of the Red Players as well. I see no better messengers to use than them."

"Yes, my Lord. You are right." Lyra stepped back, admitting she surrendered the argument.

The same went for Carlotta, only she was still pissed at the audacity of the humans. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

With that settled, Kai looked at Alex.

"I trust you can handle this without failing. Correct? If you are to disappoint me in this, then death will be your only reward."

Alex bowed his head so low that his posture looked painful.

"I am but a humble servant. I will do my best."

’Well, that was rather quick. Then again, I don’t blame the guy, after all he has seen here.’

Kai seemed relaxed.

’If I can spread my name through the city, along with what happened here today, that should reduce the number of senseless weaklings that would be looking to kill me. That said, it is a double-edged sword. Those who are strong might want to come my way too. And for that, I must be ready for whatever this game has coming my way.’

With a single sigh, he stood to his feet.

’When I entered Summoner Guild Online, I started with a Level 999 Demon. But right now, that won’t cut it anymore. Yes, my authority stretches far... but I need to expand beyond the walls of this dungeon. Rule the entire world if i have to.’
