It was the deep of night and no one was around.
The three of them had no important belongings with them.
Peter spotted Helen’s dress on the ground, picked it up and handed it to her.
Helen quickly put on her dress, no longer daring to look at Peter.
“He is okay now.
Pray tell, what’s going on?” Peter asked, his curiosity piqued.
Helen stuttered as she disclosed the entire situation.
Her family was poor, which Roshan Evans had taken advantage of.
He had convinced his son to propose to Helen’s family, but after the marriage, they had discovered that Roshan’s son, who worked in another part of the country, was impotent.
The Evans family kept this a secret, with Roshan intending to father the child himself.
Helen vehemently refused upon discovering this, and the father and son duo began threatening and enticing her.
Helen fled to this place tonight to escape from the Evans family, but Roshan had secretly followed her and attempted to assault her.
Peter looked at Helen in shock, taken aback by the turn of events.
Helen sobbed, “When I was living with the Evans family, I even slept with a knife by my side.
Roshan didn’t get a chance to do anything, but tonight when I came here to bathe and was less vigilant, I didn’t expect Roshan to act on his intentions.
He was about to get into it but was hit by a stone or something on his back and then…he passed out.”
Although Helen’s account was unclear, Peter understood what had happened.
After picturing the scenario in his mind, he reconstructed the situation almost verbatim.
He assumed that Roshan had been aroused, and Peter’s soap bar had hit him in the back.
This incident was embarrassing for Roshan.
The taboo of forcefully making a move on Helen and the fear of being discovered intermingled, had caused a mental breakdown.
Peter scratched his head.
He looked at Roshan, then at Helen and said, “He will suffer from impotence as a side effect of this illness from now on.
So, you can safely return home.
He won’t be able to harm you anymore.”
“Really?”
“Yes, of course.”
Suddenly, Helen knelt in front of Peter and begged, “Peter, please, help me.
I can’t stand being the Evans family’s daughter-in-law anymore.” She started crying as she spoke.
Peter felt disgusted when he thought about the actions of the Evans family.
He asked, “What are your plans?”
“I don’t know what to do.
Roshan gave my father 10,000 dollars.
I can’t afford to pay it back.
Even if I go home, my father will still force me to go back to the Evans family!”
Sigh!
Peter looked at Helen crying under the moonlight and thought for a while.
“How about this?
In any case, I need some manual labor over here.
You can work here.
I can pay you 2,000 dollars a month.
You can start by helping out with cooking at the construction site, there’s accommodation in the workshop shed.
As for the 10,000 dollars, I can lend you that amount first.
You can pay me back gradually from your earnings.
How does that sound?”
Helen kneeled again and said with gratitude, “Thank you, thank you.
I will surely pay you back.”
Peter could have just given her the 10,000 dollars directly, but he understood the villagers’ customs.
If he did so, they would absolutely reject his money.
“You can go home for now.
I’ll handle things here.”
“Okay.”
Feeling as if she had found a savior in Peter, Helen wholeheartedly believed him and left.
Looking at Helen under the moonlight, her body partially exposed, Peter scratched his head, surprised that a soap bar could cause such an explosive situation.
Looking at the unconscious Roshan, Peter collected the items scattered around him under the moonlight and helped him get dressed.
After that, Peter quickly ran home, brought out a flask of wine and poured it over Roshan.
He fed Roshan some wine too, successfully making him appear drunk.
Having dealt with the situation, Peter went home to change his clothes.
Only then did he return to watch over Roshan, fearing that a venomous snake would approach during the night and bite Roshan.
Peter sat cross-legged and practiced ‘cultivation’ until dawn broke.
As dawn approached, Peter once again poured some wine over Roshan.
He also stimulated his acupoints and put him back to sleep before returning home.
Despite the chaotic night, Peter felt refreshed and didn’t feel sleepy at all.
Once he heard his parents awake, he rose from bed too.
“Peter, why are you up so early?”
His mother, seeing him up, asked with concern.
“I am checking on the wine.
It should be ready for another round of distribution today.”
“Peter, is the wine really that valuable?
I’ve been uneasy!”
Liza kept looking at the wine.
It could be said that the wine was now their family’s treasure, and its significance to them was indescribable.
“Don’t worry.
Once I make a phone call, they will come to collect the wine.”
“That’s good!”
After chatting with his parents for a while, they heard a commotion from the river.
When the family went out to check, they saw the villagers crowded around where Roshan was sprawled out.
Upon seeing this, Peter joined them and inquired in feigned ignorance, “What happened to Uncle Roshan?”
“Who knows?
He drank so much and ended up sleeping here all night.
By the looks of it, he has been here all night!”
“He drank a lot.
Look!
It seems Roshan must have urinated here!”
Everyone’s gaze landed on Roshan’s lower body.
At this point, everyone was stunned.
An elder curiously bent down to take a closer look and exclaimed, “Oh my, he’s done for!”
“What happened?” someone asked.
“His manhood has shrunk…
It’s practically gone!”
Everyone looked again and their expressions became peculiar.
“Sigh.
That’s what I’ve been saying.
What’s so good about drinking?”
“If it wasn’t good to drink, could Peter make so much money from it?”
Debate simmered among the people.
At this time, unbeknownst to others, Peter released Roshan’s acupoints.
As soon as Peter released them, Roshan woke up to see the crowd encircled around him.
Roshan opened his eyes in confusion and looked at everyone asking, “What’s wrong?”
“Ah well…”
“Sigh…”
“Roshan!”
The crowd simultaneously sighed, shaking their heads in pity at Roshan.
Roshan looked baffled, having forgotten the events of the previous night.
He looked around at everyone curiously.
