“I’m going to prepare medicine, do not disturb me.”
With these words to Kate, Peter then locked himself in a room he had prepared earlier—a room specially built by him for his cultivation.
It was quite rudimentary, a simple divider of wooden boards with some mats to cover any drafty areas, and electricity brought in by a hastily rigged wire.
The place was reminiscent of a small straw hut, and it seemed quite hazardous.
But Peter didn’t care.
After all, he planned to demolish these buildings to construct a new villa; this was just temporary.
Everyone in the Brown family understood that Peter had some secret recipes he guarded zealously.
On this matter, Raven was very strict.
He had told everyone in the household not to peek when Peter was preparing his medicine—not even he himself would do so.
For Raven, Peter’s recipes were the basis of their family’s prosperity.
Not even he could risk prying into them.
Seeing the changes his son had brought to their family time and time again, Raven now feels a sort of reverence towards him.
Thanks to these cautions, Peter’s actions seemed perfectly normal.
Upon entering the room, Peter turned on the electric stove and prepared all the tools he had bought—a pot, a spatula, and the like.
He turned on the electric stove and started to heat the water.
Given his existing conditions, Peter didn’t have a better way of doing this.
For now, he had to stick to this crude method for making his first batch of medicine.
The village’s electricity supply was quite reliable.
As long as you could afford to pay, everyone could use it.
Peter figured he was not short of money, so he went to town and bought a 2,000-watt electric stove.
As soon as he switched it on, it heated up the entire room.
Good firepower!
Decoction was all about firepower.
Now that he had this 2,000-watt stove, Peter had no more worries about firepower.
He didn’t know how powerful the True Fire used in the Cultivation World actually was, but he had a feeling that there wouldn’t be much difference between it and the firepower of this 2,000-watt electric stove.
Pretty soon, the water boiled.
Peter uses a vegetable knife to rapidly chop the herbs, one variety at a time, and added them into the large pot placed on the electric stove.
Immediately, a rich fragrance of the herbs fills the room.
Peter didn’t have much time to attend to this.
He continued to cut the herbs and added them to the large pot.
Once the herbs were properly added in the correct proportion, Peter just waited for the high heat to boil them, also constantly adding water into the pot.
The fragrance from the herbs became richer.
Peter was keenly observing the changes to the herbs.
Everything was in accordance with the instructions he had received from his inheritance, which comforted him greatly.
An hour later, after countless additions of water, the herbs start to merge with one another.
It was time to add the main ingredient!
At this point, Peter knew that the critical moment had arrived.
He quickly sliced the ginseng and added the slices to the pot.
With the addition of the ginseng, the ginseng acted like a catalyst, causing immediate changes to the contents of the pot.
Everything inside the pot started to melt swiftly.
Even the residual roots which hadn’t dissolved before were now dissolving.
A stronger fragrance from the herbs now permeated the entire room.
At this point, Peter didn’t add any more water.
Instead, he let the decoction evaporate under the high heat.
After half an hour, Peter saw the decoction in the pot now resembled an ointment.
It was done, and he switched off the heat.
With the heat switched off, Peter looked at the ointment simmering in the pot and finally broke into a smile.
It was just right.
Any more heat and it would burn.
Any less, and the curative effects wouldn’t be released.
All these factors indicate that his first attempt at making medicine was a success.
From what he knew about the decoction, this ointment should be the best possible outcome of the recipe.
If the ginseng wasn’t mature enough, it would only yield a medicinal solution.
This prepared solution still requires a distillation process.
This was easy, Peter poured white vinegar into the pot and stopped paying attention to it.
He had covered the pot and walked out of the room.
Once outside, Peter saw his father, Raven, standing guard at the door.
“Dad, what are you doing here?”
“Are you done?”
“Yes, just need to test the effectiveness of the medicine.”
“That’s good!”
Raven didn’t ask any further.
He never questioned his son about his current circumstances.
Peter didn’t say much either. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
Looking at his father, he said, “I won’t have dinner tonight.
This medicine I’ve made is for my consumption, and it has to be taken on an empty stomach.
You guys can eat without me.
I’ll take the medicine in due course.”
Raven glanced at his son, nodding his acknowledgment without saying anything more, and then he got up and walked to the front yard.
Though his father might have a multitude of questions, he never asked.
This indicated his complete trust in Peter!
Touched by his family’s concern, Peter feels a sense of gratitude.
‘Forget it, let’s equip myself first.
When I have the ability, I’ll help them!’
Peter quickly put these thoughts out of his mind, given that the path he now walked was completely different from theirs.
Taking medicine was not as simple as just swallowing it.
The inherited knowledge specified that one’s body must first be cleansed.
Therefore, for his first dose, Peter first took some laxatives and then started preparing himself for the task ahead.
He gulps down large mouthfuls of water while constantly rushing to relieve himself.
Sometimes Peter wondered whether his approach made sense.
But the medicine was now ready, and he had no choice but to steel himself and see it through.
A few hours later, when it was already dark, Peter almost fainted from the laxative.
Finally, when even drinking water led to an urgent need to relieve himself, Peter knew it’s time to consume the medicine.
At this point, as soon as Peter lifted the pot cover, the enticing aroma of the medicine became even more irresistible.
Without thinking, he scooped up the concoction with a spoon and started gulping it down.
Strangely, once the medicine hit his mouth, it transformed into a surge of heat that traveled straight to his bowels.
As the heat spread out, his entire body was engulfed in ecstasy.
Such good medicine!
At this point, Peter was certain that the first batch of medicine he had prepared was indeed effective.
Now, he even noticed that he was sweating out a greasy substance, visible even in the dim light.
His hands were coated in black.
Damn, it’s toxic!
Seeing this, Peter was glad as it was a clear sign that the medicine was working.
At this point, he also noticed that the feeling of weakness from the laxatives had disappeared.
His body was now full of a sense of great power.
